This document provides an overview of physics concepts including units of measurement in the MKS system, Newton's laws of motion, examples of forces, and other foundational topics. Key points covered include that physics links concepts to quantitative measurements using units; Newton's 2nd law states that force equals mass times acceleration; and his 3rd law that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Gravity and its acceleration at the Earth's surface are also explained. Assignments given are to read the first two chapters and submit the first homework and questions/observations.
