4. Objectives of the Fundamental Elements
Develop EGNOS and Galileo-enabled chipsets, receivers, user terminals
and other associated technologies that will:
Facilitate the adoption of the European GNSS Systems building on
innovative services and differentiators
Increase the EU industry competitiveness
Push through Close-to-market innovation actions
Address the user needs in priority market segments, maximising the
benefits for the citizens
Budget envelope
• 111,5 million Euro
• To be spent between 2014 and 2020
• Delegated to the GSA via Galileo & EGNOS Delegation Agreement
5. Fundamental Elements so far
• 11 projects in 8 different areas already running:
EU BUDGET committed: 32.6 M EUR
• 6 additional projects in 3 different areas already published or about to
start:
EU BUDGET published: 15 M EUR
• 7 projects upcoming in 2018 that will be presented further today
– Typically grants* + procurements
• Galileo multi frequency / purpose antenna
• Safety of life in train signalling
• Advanced Interference detection and robustness
• Commercial Service user terminal
• Enhanced RX for autonomous driving/navigation
• Enhanced GNSS user terminal (incl. OS-NMA , I/NAV improvements)
• Gap filler project for E-GNSS receivers/technologies
Additional EU BUDGET foreseen to be published : 27.5 M EUR

6. Fundamental Elements 2nd Info day
• Important place for dialogue with beneficiaries
- One of the main issues discussed at the first info day
was the level of financing.
- After this discussion we have now managed to raise
the level of grant financing to 70 % of the eligible total
cost
