Man tries to rape
8-yr-old sleeping
with her mother

Jaipur: A case of ab-
ducting an 8-year-old girl
sleeping with her mother
and committing a shame-
ful act has come to light.
The accused youth used
to come to give food pack-
ets to the labour families.
The accused took her in
her lap while she was
sleeping on Wednesday
night. After taking to
some distance, he started
trying to rape by doing
obscene acts.
Hearing the cries and
screams of the girl, the
family members rushed
to the spot and the ac-
cused fled away
. The girl’s
mother has filed a case
under the POCSO Act at
Chitrakoot police station.
The family lives tempo-
rarily in Nemi Nagar.
The victim said that
Amit Bhaiya had just
come and took her away
while she was asleep. He
started doing dirty
things with her. When
the girl started crying
and screaming, he threat-
ened her and asked her to
keep quiet. When the girl
started crying more out
of fear, he left her near
the gate and ran away
.
MAN ATTEMPTS
RAPE ON WOMAN
SLEEPING WITH KID
Jaipur: A man attempted
to rape a woman sleeping
with her child in an area
under Kalwar police sta-
tion. The accused jumped
the wall and entered the
house on the night of Sep-
tember 21. He started rap-
ing by pressing the mouth
of the woman. Her hus-
band woke up after hear-
ing her screaming. When
the husband defended the
wife, the accused attacked
him with a knife. Other
family members slept in
the rooms while she was
sleeping outside. They
sent a complaint by post
to the commissioner of
police after which a case
of rape and assault with a
knife has been filed at the
Kalwar police station.

Mother, two
sons drown in a
well in Bhilwara

Bhilwara: In a heart-
wrenching incident on
Thursday in Ratanpura
village area, a three-and-a-
half-year-old boy fell into
an 80-foot-deep well while
playing. To save him, the
mother also jumped with
her ten-month-old son. All
three died due to drown-
ing. Their bodies were
fished out of the well after
five hours. The bodies of
were taken out by police.

tea, which police sus-
pect could be food
poisoning. Four
siblings of a
family and

grandmother’s
health deteriorated

Thursday morning in
the Galta Gate area.
The four children

Lon Hospital in Jaipur
and the maternal
grandmother to SMS

Rly min Vaishnaw to visit
hometown Jodh on Oct 2

Minister Ashwini
Vaishnaw will be in his
hometown, Jodhpur,
on October 2 for the
first time after assum-
ing the charge of the
Ministry of Railways.
He would be meeting
his relatives and par-
ents and attend vari-
ous programmes after
visiting the Ganesh
temple.
He will attend some
programmes at the
Raikabagh railway sta-
tion. He will dedicate
the station building,
lift and foot overbridge
here to the people. He
will then go to the Ma-
heshwari Bhawan, to

the postal department.

nation camp in the city
and pay tributes to Ma-

Preeti Shaktawat is

Such colonies will also be regularized in Prashashan Sharon ke Sang for which an order was issued after approv- al of UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal. A 40 feet wide ap- proach road is neces- sary for regularization in normal cases. A plan of providing basic facilities will also be made for such colo- nies where leases for 60 percent plots have been given. Under this, if the sector / zonal plan have also been technically approved and more leases have been issued for more than 60 per- cent of the plots, the plan for providing fa- cilities will be made. The government has also decided to regular- ize the colony even if the provision of reser- vation plots for EWS and LIG category has not been followed by de- velopers. For this, the plot holders will have to pay Rs.25 per sq.m. In another decision, the government has au- thorized the Empow- ered committees of the local bodies to change location of facility are- as and roads. Relaxation of 60 per- cent in lease amount and 100 percent in inter- est will be given if the amount is outstanding in the matters related to old settlement, densely populated areas and un- cultivated wasteland having population. In his order, Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati asked him to be released from the jail. Gurjar was arrested on June 29, along with BVG company’s pro- ject head Omkar Sapre, for demanding a bribe or Rs 20 crore to clear the firm’s out- standing payment of Rs 276 crore to the mu- nicipal corporation. Sapre was, however, released on bail on September 4. It singles out Pakistan by name in the section that calls for a report on “entities providing sup- port for the Taliban”. Senator Jim Risch, the rep- resentative for the state of Idaho and a ranking member of the US Senate Foreign Re- lations Committee, has pi- loted the legislation. It has also been co-sponsored by some prominent senators, including Mitt Romney, who had ran against former pres- ident Barack Obama during his re-election bid, and Mar- co Rubio, who lost out in the prima- ries for the 2016 US presidential election. The Secre- tary of State, in consultation with the Secretary of Defence and the Director of National Intelligence, shall submit to the appropriate Congression- al committees a report on en- tities providing support to the Taliban. The proposed bill has caused heated debate in the Pakistani media, because it asks for a detailed report about Pakistan’s support, both its state and non- state actors, for the Taliban be- tween 2001 and 2020, includ- ing the provision of sanctu- ary space, financial support, intelligence support, logis- tics and medical support, training, equipping, and tac- tical, operational, or strate- gic direction; an assessment of support by state and non- state actors, including the Government of Pakistan, for the 2021 offensive of the Tali- ban that toppled the Govern- ment of Afghanistan. The surprise factor at Pathak’s repatria- tion matched the sur- prise factor when he was brought to the Centre as MD, Nation- al Highways and Infra- structure Development Corporation Limited in October 2019. Many wondered then why he was put in charge of a capital-intensive infra- structure venture, con- sidering he has a zero- tolerance level for wheeling deals. Known among his colleagues for his pro- fessional integrity topped by competence, it is surmised that his brusque straightfor- wardness might not have been appreciated. Or, is the NDA admin- istration planning a major operation in Bi- har where governance is said to have lost all meaning because of perpetual politicking? His cleanliness is vouched particularly by NE officials who had seen how roads and highways were constructed in the re- gion in one season and they disappeared completely in the next season. Pathak is known for his own personal style of doing things right and doing things speed- ily. In the NHIDCL, he ensured that the EDs and GMs are located at ground-zero and visit- ed their sites regularly and inspected the op- eration assigned to them so that in case of a problem, they could be held accountable. There has been a sudden increase in the prices of veg- etables in the state’s largest fruit vegetable market at Muhana in Jaipur. For the last four days, the wholesale price of tomatoes was Rs 25 to 30 per kg, but have now increased to Rs 35 to 40 per kg. When the local people chased the container but driver fled the scene leaving the container. In the accident, 3-year-old girl Divisha died on the spot while two siblings, including a 9-month-old boy were injured. Govt converts RTDC’s `57.5 cr loan into share capital Nirmal Tiwari Jaipur: In a major re- lief to the Tourism In- dustry of the state, the State Government has converted Rs 57.5 crore loan it had given to Ra- jasthan Tourism Devel- opment Corporation (RTDC) into its share capital. The Tourism Department issued a notification of finan- cial approval to this ef- fect on Thursday . The State Govern- ment has decided to merge Rs 54.52 crore given to RTDC on ac- count of capital expend- iture, Rs 1.90 crore on account of public ex- penses and Rs 60 lakh in other heads into the corporation’s share capital. Another loan of Rs 4 lakh will also be merged into the share capital of RTDC, which has already has Rs 40 crore on that account. That apart, a grant of Rs 10 crore has also been approved. This in effect, has reduced RTDC’s liabilities to Rs 108 crore from Rs 175 crore. This will in- fuse new zeal in the sector which is reeling under the impact of the pandemic. There, legend says the goat herder Kaldi first discovered the potential of these beloved beans. The story goes that Kaldi discovered coffee after he no- ticed that after eating the berries from a certain tree, his goats became so energetic that they did not want to sleep at night. Kaldi reported his findings to the abbot of the local mon- astery, who made a drink with the berries and found that it kept him alert through the long hours of evening prayer. The abbot shared his discovery with the other monks at the monastery, and knowledge of the energizing berries began to spread. As word moved east and coffee reached the Arabian peninsula, it began a journey that would bring these beans across the globe. THE ARABIAN PENINSULA Coffee cultivation and trade began on the Arabian Penin- sula. By the 15th century , cof- fee was being grown in the Yemeni district of Arabia and by the 16th century, it was known in Persia, Egypt, Syria, and Turkey.Coffee was not only enjoyed in homes, but also in the many public coffee houses — called qah- veh khaneh — which began to appear in cities across the Near East. The popularity of the coffee houses was une- qualled and people frequent- ed them for all kinds of social activity. Not only did the patrons drink coffee and engage in conversation, but they also listened to music, watched performers, played chess and kept current on the news. Coffee houses quickly be- came such an important cen- tre for the exchange of infor- mation that they were often referred to as “Schools of the Wise.” With thousands of pil- grims visiting the holy city of Mecca each year from all over the world, knowledge of this “wine of Araby” began to spread. COFFEE COMES TO EUROPE European travellers to the Near East brought back sto- ries of an unusual dark black beverage. By the 17th centu- ry, coffee had made its way to Europe and was becoming popular across the continent. Some people reacted to this new beverage with suspicion or fear, calling it the “bitter invention of Satan.” The lo- cal clergy condemned coffee when it came to Venice in 1615. The controversy was so great that Pope Clement VIII was asked to intervene. He decided to taste the beverage for himself before making a decision and found the drink so satisfying that he gave it papal approval. Despite such controversy, coffee houses were quickly becoming centres of social activity and communication in the major cities of Eng- land, Austria, France, Ger- many and Holland. In Eng- land “penny universities” sprang up, so-called because for the price of a penny one could purchase a cup of cof- fee and engage in stimulating conversation. Coffee began to replace the common breakfast drink bev- erages of the time — beer and wine. Those who drank cof- fee instead of alcohol began the day alert and energized, and not surprisingly, the quality of their work was greatly improved. (We like to think of this as a pre- cursor to the modern office coffee service.) By the mid-17th century , there were over 300 coffee houses in London, many of which attracted like- minded patrons, including mer- chants, ship- pers, brokers and artists. Many businesses grew out of these s p e - cialized coffee houses. Lloyd’s of London, for example, came into existence at Edward Lloyd’s Coffee House. THE NEW WORLD In the mid-1600s, coffee was brought to New Amsterdam, later called New York by the British. Coffee houses rapid- ly began to appear, tea con- tinued to be the favoured drink in the New World until 1773, when the colonists re- volted against a heavy tax on tea imposed by King George III. The revolt, called the Bos- ton Tea Party, would forever change the American drink- ing preference for coffee.
