Customer Experience: A Catalyst for Digital TransformationCloudera, Inc.
Customer experience is a catalyst in many digital transformation projects. It is why many businesses invest in new technologies and processes to more effectively engage customers, constituents, or employees. The goal of putting digital tools to work in a transformative way is to ensure that data and insights connect people with information and processes that ultimately lead to a better experience for customers. Yet, it demands a modern approach that considers all of the platforms, processes, and data across the customer journey. The goal for many organizations is dynamically maintaining a single source of truth about each customer to drive personalized experiences based on individual preferences and behaviors.
However, businesses today have primarily invested in systems of record. While these systems are critical for managing internal operational processes, they are typically not effective for today's pace of business change. Insight-driven experiences require customer intelligence platforms that can finally create a customer 360. The deeper data and improved algorithms now available let users factor in individual affinity, segment, and a myriad of growing data sources. The result is greater relevance and effectiveness to deliver a differentiated experience that in today’s competitive landscape is not a luxury, but a necessity for survival.
In this session we will address:
3 things to learn:
•Leaders and Laggards of digital transformation
•How to create data-driven customer insights
•The importance of machine learning to uncover hidden insights

Big Data in Financial Services: How to Improve Performance with Data-Driven D...Perficient, Inc.
Most banking and financial services organizations have only scratched the surface of leveraging customer data to transform their business, realize new revenue opportunities, manage risk and address customer loyalty. Yet a business’s digital footprint continues to evolve as automated payments, location-based purchases, and unstructured customer communications continue to influence the technology landscape for financial services.
IBM Watson Content Analytics: Discover Hidden Value in Your Unstructured DataPerficient, Inc.
Healthcare organizations create a massive amount of digital data. Some is stored in structured fields within electronic medical records (EMR), claims or financial systems and is readily accessible with traditional analytics. Other information, such as physician notes, patient surveys, call center recordings and diagnosis reports is often saved in a free-form text format and is rarely used for analytics. In fact, experts suggest that up to 80% of enterprise data exists in this unstructured format, which means a majority of critical data isn’t being considered or analyzed!
Our webinar demonstrated how to extract insights from unstructured data to increase the accuracy of healthcare decisions with IBM Watson Content Analytics. Leveraging years of experience from hundreds of physicians, IBM has developed tools and healthcare accelerators that allow you to quickly gain insights from this “new” data source and correlate it with the structured data to provide a more complete picture.

1. Getting to the right questions
2. Setting expectations with the executive team
3. The unintentional consequence of suddenly having lots of data
4. Framing the boundaries of our data science
5. Pragmatic data governance
6. Looking outside your data to 3rd party data

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

With the emerging front-office transformation underway (mobile commerce, call center operations, etc.), big data and analytics is being used to deepen customer engagement and find entirely new sources of revenue by combining data from both inside and outside the enterprise.
The transformation extends even further to the optimization of existing operations and infrastructure assets due to the aggressive instrumentation of infrastructure and systems using sensors in cities, transportation, healthcare and power grids, and technology areas such as IT operational analytics and security intelligence.
Big Data & Analytics makes every decision every interaction and business process, no matter how big or small, provide insight on the next course of action. It does this by infusing, extending and integrating big data & analytics everywhere.
Neither the systems of engagement nor systems of record work in isolation, they work together to deliver more value. Add to this mix the power of analytics using big data from inside and outside your organization--enterprise content, social media, enterprise data and machine data, you have the power to transform not only interactions but entire industries.
The ability to connect your systems of record and new workloads, either on premise or in the cloud offers hybrid cloud choices to clients.
