8. What Will We Do With This
Info?
Ultimate goal: to have a true inventory and be good
stewards of our blessings and resources
Separate consumables and non-consumables (order
form vs. inventory)
Bar coding of all non-consumable curriculum items for
all grades
Accurate accounting and accountability
Uniformity in our inventory system
Inventory should be pain-free and easy in the future!
Editor's Notes
3 new columns which I call the “I” columns b/c they make “I” statements. The info from these columns will be very helpful in knowing what is and is not on hand.
We want there to be communication between the teachers of each grade level. This will provide more accuracy on the inventory. And it never hurts when teachers of the same curriculum talk to each other! We have eliminated the “Cost” column from last year’s inventory. It was severely out of date and inaccurate. We want you to base your inventory decisions on what you need, not on what it costs. We want to have an accurate account of what is truly on hand not just what is in teachers’ classrooms. This means we want you to check the Curriculum Room. Last summer…An inventory tells us what is on hand not just what we need. An order form simply tells us what is needed for next year.
We want to know everything about each item. The more information we have about what we use in the classrooms, the better we can plan and spend our money wisely.“I” columns need a yes or no marking and # columns require a number. For our purposes, zero is a number! When filling out the # to Order column, base your numbers on two full-sized classes in your grade level. Full 1st Grade Class + Full 1st Grade Class = ???
Please do not put question marks in boxes. If you don’t know something, please find out. Ask your partner teacher in your grade level, ask Chris, and if all else fails, ask me! Please do not make generalized statements or markings. Statements written across the columns do not tell us what is on hand, even if you are not currently using those items.
The second page is for items that are not on the current inventory list:Anything (and I mean ANYTHING) that TCCS has purchased for your classroom that aids in the teaching of your curriculum. It might be supplemental or it might be part of what was originally purchased with the current curriculum. It looks like we have a good start with our reading curriculum but the inventory list might be missing a lot of things for the other subject areas. Please include all TEs, too.If there is something you need that you don’t have and it’s not on the inventory list, please list it with title, publisher, ISBN, etc. As much info as possible is greatly appreciated.Whatever is in the Curriculum Room that is not on the inventory list (and it pertains to your curriculum) should be listed here.
We are asking for these sheets to be turned in back to Jennifer on Friday, February 21st. Firstly, because it is going to take time to put together a comprehensive list. Secondly, we might be able to order things early and get a better deal rather than waiting until the summer when everyone is ordering. This is an ongoing process and we will do our best to not ask you too much more. However, please be patient as we try to make this a better process in the future.
This is a list of what we would like to do with the information that is on these forms. The ultimate goal is to be good stewards of what we have been given.
