2. Water
Our planet is called Earth
although it could be called
Water, because it is more
than 30% covered by land.
From other 70% of the
water 2.7% is fresh water,
and most of it is in ice and
icebergs.
3. Use water
We use water for
different purposes:
drinking and hygiene,
recreation, tourism,
plants and animals (their
habitats are in water),
transport.
9. Water supply
• The water we drink comes from water
supply. Before the water let in the water
supply, must to go trough cetrain
procedures.
10. Raw water
The water pumped
from underground is
called raw water and in
that water there is
ammonia and bacteria
and chlorine and
oxygen are added to
purify it.
12. Chlorine in water
• If you wonder why your wyter is
sometimes white like this it doesn’t mean
tt is chlorine but air under pressure.
13. Sand filters
•All waste water
goes into the sand
filters, dirt stays
there and clean
water goes into
the pool of clean
water and later in
the reuse.
14. Waste water
•Every factory has its
own waste waters. So,
the sugar factory
Šećerana in Virovitica
also has its own waste
waters which are refined
to biological waste water
treatment plants and than
released into nature.
15. 24 hours
•If somewhere in the water
mains a pipe is dammaged,
it can be immediately closed
by hand or by computer.
17. Water pollution
• The republic of Croatia is rich with natural sources of
•
water and according to the cleanness it occupies fifth
place in Europe.
The causes of pollution are:
- water pollution from industrial sources
- adverse substances from the chimnies
- an unorganized disposal of waste
- waste waters
- exhaust fumes of cars, ships and airplanes
23. Sweden
Water pollution also
affects the extincion of
plants and animals, for
example:
In Sweden, from 85 000
lakes, 16 000 lakes
became acidic, and
5 000 lakes lost fish.
24. South America
In South America
due to the oil spill in
the ocean a spicies
of whale became
endengered.
