2. CREATING A FILE
To create a file, we make a system call
specify file name.
To logical file system will create a new file
by
Allocating necessary disk storage space.
An entry mode in the directory.
3. WRITING A FILE
To write a file, we make a system all
specifying both the name of the file and the
information to be written to the file.
File system searches the directory to find the
location of the file, write the information and
update the write pointer.
4. READING A FILE
To read from a file, we make a system call
specify the name of the file and its location.
File system searches the directory to find the
location of the file, read the information and
update the read pointer.
5. REPOSITIONING WITHIN A FILE
This operation is also known as file “seek”
File system searches the directory to find the
location of the file and set the current file
position
6. DELETING A FILE
To delete a file, we make a system call
specifying name of the file.
File system searches the directory for the
named file and release all file space.
7. TRUNCATING A FILE
File system erase the particular file but keep
its attributes remain unchanged except for file
length attribute.
