1. Hello. My name is Daniela Martins and this year I’m a student of the third grade
from the Tourism Professional Course. I’m here to tell you what I think about
Peace.
Let’s start by saying the meaning of the word Peace ...a long time ago
the concept of Peace was simply the absence of war, then it became an
absence of violence and now is understood as a culture of peace.
Nowadays, the concept of Peace has a huge weight in our daily life,
since it’s a matter of public interest.
As currently the concept of Peace is considered as a culture of peace, it
leads us to consider the ways of life, behaviors, habits and attitudes that foster
it. However, when the culture, in its various aspects - economic, political, social,
emotional, moral - retains values of violence, domination and conflict, peace
becomes only the interval between wars or situations of violence.
Based on this, more and more people come to understand that peace is
not an absence of conflict or a condition of passivity. Peace is a kind of
mentality, a way of acting daily, that the countries, communities, political parties
and individuals are supposed to take into consideration to solve their
differences through agreements, negotiations and concessions.
However, although peace isn’t recognized by the international spheres as
a human right, it is recognized as a universal value. Just like freedom and
equality, peace should be recognized as a human right, so that the actions at
the national, international and even world level can try to guarantee and
preserve it.
Moreover, we have only to say, that half way to Peace, is already being
implemented, since from a very young age, children hear about this and are
induced to cultivate it by the family, school and social environment ...
Let’s hope, that in a near future the world really lives in PEACE.
