Persuasive Essay On Suicide
In today's society, suicide can be a multifaceted issue, sometimes an act of heroism, selfishness,
love, or a brave choice. I am arguing against suicide because it is not a solution to a problem, it
should not even be included as an option. Suicide is simply defined as "the deliberate taking of
one's own life, usually the result of a psychiatric disorder, although sometimes deliberated in the face
of life–threatening physical illness, significant interpersonal stress, or when under the influence of
one or more substances of abuse" (Piotrowski). This topic interests me because of the fact that the
rates are increasing year after year and it can happen to someone close to me at any moment. This
topic should interest you too because someone close to you can show warning signs, which can be
subtle or more discernible. Also if you are reading this as a parent, you should know "suicide is the
third leading cause of death for those between the ages of ten and fourteen, and it is the second
leading cause of death for those ages fifteen to thirty–four" (Goff). Yet the factors that play into a
someone's decision is anything but simple. The most obvious and severe effect of suicide is the loss
of a meaningful, valuable human life. "In the United States in 2013, according to the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 41,149 individuals committed suicide and approximately
494,169 received medical treatment for self–inflicted injuries. The World Health Organization
(WHO) reported an estimated 800,000 suicides worldwide in 2016, and suicide is the second
leading cause of death among fifteen– to twenty–nine–year–olds worldwide. Women attempt suicide
more often than men, but men complete suicide more often than women because men tend to use
more lethal means, such as a firearm" (Piotrowski). With suicide rates on a continuous rise in
America, society must ask what can be done to save lives.
The main argument against suicide is that it is selfish, which is true. By you killing yourself, it
causes a lot of pain to those left behind, like your family, loved ones, friends, etc. They tend to
blame themselves for your death. Even if you feel like nobody in the whole world cares about you,
you are wrong. When you think

Persuasive Essay On Online Classes
Most people think highly of online classes; get to work from home, get to work on a flexible
schedule, and anyone can do it. Though no one has heard the cons of taking one. I personally took
three semesters of online classes in high school and had a horrible experience. Because of loose
scheduling, poor communication, and the focus needed, online classes are not suitable for
procrastinators. To give a better understanding, I will summarize my experience with the class. Me,
being a procrastinator, thought to myself: I'll just work on the weekends and if I don't finish the
class by the end of the school year, I can finish within the first few weeks of summer. This was a
god awful plan. Unsurprisingly, close to nothing was accomplished on the weekends. Friends would
ask me to hang out every weekend, and I did every time. Why would I want to work on my class on
the weekend when I could be having fun? I would later regret this decision. On the days I stayed
home and could have worked on the class, I completed nothing. On these days, I would tell myself:
I'll just complete what I didn't do this weekend next weekend. This rarely happened. Thus, the cycle
of getting nothing accomplished started. I disregarded my class for most of the first semester of
junior year. With only nine assignments out of eighty finished after the first semester of the school
year, I was immensely behind. I told myself to get my act together during second semester and grind
out these two semesters

Persuasive Essay On Lacrosse
A high intensity game that involves physical attributes and cognitive awareness describes the
sport lacrosse. People play lacrosse all over the world and the sport continues to grow in size. The
sport lacrosse dates all the way back to when Indians would play for land and resources. The word
lacrosse translates to "Little Brother of War". Men and women of all ages and levels play the game
lacrosse to this day. At the Eastern Cincinnati Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, the sport lacrosse
qualifies as a club rather than a sport. The sport lacrosse should qualify as a sport because it would
reduce costs, more players would join, it offers benefits, and people would consider lacrosse as a
more serious sport.
In the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, male and female high schoolers who have an interest in
playing the sport lacrosse, have an expensive bill to pay. The cost to have a spot on the team
alone estimates to about 300 dollars. The cost covers renting the field, transportation, and the use
of the weight room. Due to the fact that lacrosse does not fall under the category of qualifying as
a sport, players are charged more money to cover the fees that the school does not cover. On top
of the 300 dollars, a requirement for all players involves the purchasing of equipment for playing.
Players are required to acquire a stick, a mouthguard, a pair of cleats, spandex, and an eyepiece.
Purchasing a stick alone ranges from 50 dollars to close to 300 hundred dollars. Since the fee for

Ar 15 Persuasive Speech
Lately everyone is seeing school shootings and robberies on the news and how most of these crimes
are done with the the gun known as the ar–15 also known as an assault rifle.A lot of people jumped
on board to ban these guns. But will that really fix our shooting problem? A strong majority of
vote in 2017 voted for the banning of the ar 15 after the school shooting in florida killing multiply
students.61 percent of the adults in Florida say that the ar 15 should be banned.39 percent of the
adults say that background checks and looking into there history is necessary to buy in gun.The
reasons for banning ar's are not to get the weapons away from normal and mentally stable people but
to keep the guns of the streets and out of the reach of the kids that are capable and mentally unstable.

Persuasive Essay On School Shootings
Unfortunately, the notion of schools being a safe place is no longer a trend across American
schools. Disturbing mass shootings in the U.S continue to shock the media. A school shooting is
when someone attacks a school using a gun. The Secret Service says these shootings are
"deliberately selected as the location for the attack". The reasons massacres occur in schools is
because of poor security, violence in video games/media, and bullying. Shockingly the U.S. has the
most school shootings than any other country in the world. According to the FBI, mass shootings
occur, on average, every 2 weeks in the U.S. While the cause of school shootings are sometimes
unpredictable, it is a growing issue and they need to be prevented. Most shooters don't have mental
issues, they have a plan to kill, so there is no singular cause that creates violent people. On April
16th, 2007, the most deadly school massacre occurred. Seung–Hui Cho killed thirty–two students at
Virginia–Tech. As Americans, we no longer should turn on the news and witness these gruesome
murders. We try to make sense of these murders, but it's ineffectual. There are measures we can
take as a society to help. The number one question in a school massacre is, "why would a person
that has a capable sense of mind even do that?" It is our moral responsibility to fix these issues. In
order to stop this problem, we need to find its roots. Society has been scared throughout the
generations due to American school shootings.

Persuasive Essay On Sports
Competitive sports
Do you have a passion, something you love to do more than anything? Imagine people trying to
stop you from doing what you love because they think it's not useful or a waste. Some people say
competitive sports cost too much and they are way too dangerous for young kids to participate in.
However, for many youth, competitive sports play a positive role. When kids play competitive
sports, they are happier and they learn how to be healthy. Also, they learn life lessons that they will
need for the future.
One thing that is a positive outcome in sports is the overflowing happiness people get when they
participate in competitive sports. One example is that "children who were involved in sports
were more assertive, had greater confidence in their skills and physical appearance, and reported
more positive feelings than those who didn't participate. (Merkal, Donna, Youth sport: positive
and negative impact on young athletes, 201, May 31)." If children hold an extreme love for the
sport they play, most children use that sport as an escape. Playing sports blows off steam and
helps people relax. "Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you
feeling happier and more relaxed. (Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research
,Exercise: 7 benefits of regular physical activity, 1998)." Playing sports can help bring families or
other kids together to build strong bonds. "It appears that US children are healthy and happy as
they engage in this traditional pastime, and families report higher levels of satisfaction if their
children participate. (Macdonald, Brian, Kids in Sports, Part 5: Can sports help shy kids to
make friends?, 2009)." A pat on the back from a parental figure is enough to keep kids going and
doing their best. Because sports make children happier, they are more prone to keep playing which
all in all makes children happier and it teaches kids to do what makes them happy. With suicide
being the second biggest fatality for adolescents doing what makes them happy can be a life or death
situation.
Correspondingly, fitness is a huge plus side of competitive sports. Diabetes is affecting around 8.6%
of America's population. "More than 29 million American

Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection
Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale In my revision, I decided to incorporate
actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The feedback I received was that my essay
needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed,
I wanted to create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as
well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical thinking to help work through the
weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these
suggestions because they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive
essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do not believe my essay
would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not
being able to pin down my argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that
wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not necessarily have to be
persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the
experiences of the characters is the outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your
readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why you are arguing
your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument
was not central and a little vague. I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why
I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my essay and this
helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would
have reduced my challenges. This question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but
one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the issue was more
clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my
clarification because it is one of the main elements, that is needed when you are writing a
persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your readers
can have a full understanding of your

How To Write A Persuasive Essay
Writing essay is one of the things that I used to dislike before. For me, writing an essay was a
difficult and boring thing. However, I change my mind when I was doing the assignment,
"Persuasive Essay". This essay is my first English essay, and it was a quite challenging task for me.
In this assignment , I learned a lot. For example, to use the transition words to connect each
paragraph. Also, to use other writer's words to make my idea be more powerful. Thus, this
assignment improves my writing skills a lot. Before, I didn't know that I have to use the transition
words in an essay. For me, an essay is constituted by many single paragraphs. However, everything
is different when I was doing this assignment, Persuasive Essay. I noticed that every paragraph
should support theme to make an essay stronger. Also, after Ms. Weller marked this assignment, I
learned that using transition words can create a powerful link between my ideas. For example,
using the word, "in addition" , can make two paragraphs connect to each other. It also can make
readers understand the logic of an essay. Therefore, I' ve learned the writing skill which can make
each paragraph be connected from this assignment....show more content...
I really enjoyed it. As I was researching, I also could read other writer's literature. I notice that
using the quote or data can make the theme of an essay be stronger and more persuasive. For
example, I use the quote from Steven Crowder, the author of "TheTop 5 Reasons College May Be
Waste Of Time In 2015", to support my idea, going to college is unnecessary. The quote not only
can make an essay more cogent but also can make readers agree with writer's thinking. Thus, I've
learned to use the quote to make my essay to more

Writing A Persuasive Essay
It's a simple enough idea, write an essay about a topic for credit. I'll admit I've written good
essays in the past, I just have one issue with this topic; I am not a persuasive person. I don't have a
passion to write about, or an idea in my head. Even if I was passionate about something, I doubt I
have the skill to convince you. My arguments would consist of why I like the topic (or hate it) with
an extreme bias, and I doubt that you would be moved. I couldn't convince you that the long hours of
school take a toll on the students. Even if others agree with me, the way I word things, the lack of
passion and my lack of being able to be assertive is the reason why I can't write this essay. First
things first, the way I word my thoughts. Regardless...show more content...
You'll get this definition: "The writer takes a stand on an issue–either "for" or "against"–and builds
the strongest possible argument to win over the reader. In a persuasive essay, it's the writer's job
to convince the reader to accept a particular point of view or take a specific action." Along with a
bunch of How Tos. I've have taken a stand that is very passive–aggressive, on why I can't write this
essay. I know what you're thinking, this is ridiculous. Just think of it like this, as you sit there
reading me ramble on and give excuses. You're starting to listen. Yes, you have been in my spot
before, lack of passion words don't form right and you're just not clear enough. I see the irony here,
this very essay, it contradicts itself. A persuasive essay on why I can't write a persuasive essay. In
the end it's genius, I'm not faking an opinion or sing someone's thoughts. You might have considered
this option before but it seemed too stupid. You looked up prompt after prompt. Nothing. When you
finally settle you know it's not your best work and the grade shows. Or you did it last minute,
reworded someone else's essay. You've even considered turning in nothing, I mean what's the point

Persuasive Essay On Success
Goals, something every human being on this planet has and to reach those goals you must be
successful. We set goals to fulfill our purpose in life, but to do that, you must be successful in
meeting and completing those goals. "How Bad Do You Want It?" is a motivational speech that
highlights the requirements of being successful. This speech is important to study because success
is so vital and important for our survival as human beings, it changes the world. No matter your race,
religion, culture, etc., you want to be successful and that will have a different definition for
everyone, because only you can define what success means to you. "How Bad Do You Want It"
encourages its audience to think differently about wanting to be successful and how to make it
happen. This speech holds all the components Aristotle says a speech needs to be effective which
include, persuasive, decorative, and informational, also meaning motivational, actionable, and fun
(Morgan, 2016). While watching the football player perform each exercise repeatedly, I witnessed
the effort and dedication he exerted through each set – this commitment resonated with me, as I am
also an athlete who is expected to elicit these qualities. Not only hay, the video serves as
confirmation that success is only attainable for those who want it bad enough and are willing to
work for it. Even the background music playing provoked an internal motivation to be proactive.

Have you ever had one of those days where you never wanted it to end? All the joy comes spilling
out of you and you don't want it to stop? Well, that was the day I didn't know I had. As I roused
out of my sleep, I heard somebody rushing up the stairs and opening my door. " Arlene, wake up we
have to leave soon!" My mom bellowed as I started to lift the blue blanket off myself. We were going
to California today and I couldn't wait! I went and packed my toothbrush, glasses, contacts, and
whatever else I needed. As I rushed downstairs, I smelled the eggs my mom was making us as I
gave my luggage to my dad. I couldn't wait for this adventure to begin, but I didn't know how
much fun I would really have! "Please fasten your seatbelt the plane is about to land," the flight
attendant addressed over the loudspeaker. I squealed as I put my headphones away and turned my
phone off. "Ahhhh, I can't believe we're about to land!" I told Armaan. While the plane was
landing, we saw the Hollywood Sign, buildings, many hills, and not to mention palm trees! "Wow,
look at this view!" I exclaimed as the plane started to dart down at full speed. Finally, we were here.
As soon as I got out I felt a nice breeze, and I started to make my way out of the plane and to the
baggage area. "I can't believe we're here!" Armaan beamed while my dad went to go pick up a car.
We found our bags and headed outside when the hot sun blazed right at me. "Mom, Dad can we go
to The Grove first I really want to go?"

Love is a beautiful thing. It makes people happy. It can change a person, and show someone
things that they never knew about themselves. It lifts one up, knowing there is always someone
who will stand by their side through anything. It brings people together, and makes the world a
better place. Some people may disagree; they might think love is just a fantasy. Either way, it is a
fantasy that everyone deserves to dream of and experience in all its glory, whether straight, lesbian,
gay, bisexual, or transgender. However, not all people are so accepting of love when it is not in the
form that they are familiar with, or is not demonstrated in ways that they think are proper. This can

Yes, the legal definition ofmarriage includes that it is between one man and one woman. This
definition is not fair. Marriage should be about powerful love and support, despite the genders of the
two recipients.
Minnesota republican Wheelock Whitney, who ran for governor and senator in past years, wrote an
editorial on his support for gay marriage in the Star Tribune last month. He said: "Gay men and
lesbians are among the most talented people out there. Needless and hurtful laws [banning same–sex
marriage] drive them away. They also drive away innovative people of any sexual orientation who
simply want to live in a place that respects and celebrates the diversity of life." He continued by
saying: "my happiness has never depended on depriving others of their happiness. My marriage
has never needed the exclusion of others from marriage. I am not threatened by seeing others find
love and celebrate it." Gays are normal people just like anyone else, who struggle with their
identities and live in search of success, love, and happiness. Prejudiced laws banning same–sex
marriage needlessly keep these people from natural human desires. No damage is done to society by
letting same–sex couple marry and lead more content, loving lives. If anything, it makes our country
a better, happier place.
While adult non–heterosexuals are regularly discriminated against via their denied access from legal
marriage, those much younger face constant discrimination

Persuasive Lying Essay
People often say that honesty is the best policy. You should listen to them they know what they're
talking about. Lying. In the dictionary the definition of lying is an "intentionally told false
statement" but the dictionary doesn't list the consequences of a lie or why said false statements
were used. So, I'll have to do it.
I know that no one wants to hear that they look fat or grotesque , or that the ugly sweater they gave
someone for Christmas will never see anything but the inside of a closet. We as humans believe that
telling a lie will avoid unnecessary conflict. Does it though? They also think lying could gain
themselves attention. But would they want the attention after a while? Some people also believe

Or to you having a boyfriend or girlfriend before they think your old enough? Each parent in the
world is different but they all have some form of punishment. One other example would be lying
to a teacher, someone with a position of authority in a school. A student can lie about the reason
they were late to class to the old "my dog ate my homework" excuse. This kind of lying is very
difficult for the person telling the lie, because it involves telling someone who is in a position of
authority what he or she wants to hear. The student lying doesn't tell the truth to avoid
unnecessary conflict and it is studied that always telling the truth leads to more bad than good.
Another example would be those who lie to a police officer or any person related to the law. You
could tell him or her you didn't murder your algebra teacher just because you hate math but you
actually did or you could be selling drugs and telling them you aren't. If you do it once whose to
say you won't do it again? These things are very serious as well as having serious consequences. So
just tell them the truth. At the very least you'll feel better without the heavy burden of knowing that
you've lied. Lying to avoid conflict will only result in an even bigger confrontation of what it
could've been if you had told the truth in the first place.
Another reason someone might lie is to gain attention. It can be from parents, strangers, and even
your friends. Children. From the day they're born

Persuasive Essay On Choices In Life
I believe that everyone in this life has choices. The choices we make define who we are as people
and what we stand for. Choosing one path over another may be the best or worst decision you
could ever make. However, once you have chosen, stick to your decision because you made that
choice for a reason. Even if it is to have lunch at a certain restaurant over another, or a bigger
decision like choosing your major. Something in your life helped you make that decision, and the
worst thing you can do is live your life with the regret of a choice. If your decision ends up badly,
simply make another choice. Choose a new path. In the words of my oh so wise History teacher,
"Never second guess yourself because that's worse than making the wrong choice in the end."
One of the best examples that comes to mind is a story I heard a few weeks ago, based on a real
event. In 1979, a man named Lee Strobel and his family went to a restaurant one evening and he
gave his 7 year old daughter a nickel to get a gumball from the machine and a few moments later,
she came back to the table choking on the gum. They didn't know what to do and if they waited
for an ambulance they feared it would be too late. All of a sudden, a woman came up and said
that she is a nurse and can help. The woman, after getting the gumball out of the little girl, told her
parents that her and her husband were headed to another restaurant when all of a sudden she made
a last minute choice to go here. Because of her choice, a little girl's life was saved. Hearing stories
such as this one, reminds me of all of the choices I have made, and how they have affected me.
When I was 6, my family up and moved to a new school called Knox County. I loved it there for I
had so many friends and nothing bad ever happened. Then at the end of 5th grade, my dad got a
new job so we moved schools again. This time I was 11 and starting middle school at a small
school called Pilot Grove, and I've been here ever since. There are times I catch myself wondering
what would've happened if we had stayed in Knox or the first town I ever lived in, Philadelphia (no

"Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be
graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics," announced Mr.
Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously
groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and
about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose
and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already
rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death

making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line.
I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a

Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. "What is your topic Cindy?" As usual in such

Persuasive Essay On Daycare
Leaving your child with someone else as you head off to work every day is not easy: As a parent,
chances are, you long to be with your child 24/7. This is especially true for new parents. However,
once maternity leave has ended, even mom must return to work. While there are several child care
options available, one of the best options available is daycare. That said, choosing the daycare center
that suits the needs of your family best will require a bit of research.
Choosing a Daycare Provider: What Parents Need to Know
Some daycare providers have licensed caregivers. These licensed caregivers receive special training
to ensure the children are given exceptional care.
10 Signs of a Good Daycare Provider
1. A Stimulating Environment
When you...show more content...
Are the toys provided age–appropriate and in good shape? Ask about daily activities: These
activities should include talking, singing, dancing, reading and on–the–floor playtime.
2. Security
Any daycare that you choose should have a locked door policy. This ensures that your child cannot
just roam around the neighborhood. Ideally, only staff members, individuals touring the facility and
adults who are dropping off or picking up their children should be allowed in the center. All adult
visitors need to be closely monitored, including you!
3. Age–Group Separation
Toddlers and older children should not be mingling with babies who are under the age of
12–months. Toddlers can be highly–spirited and somewhat unsteady on their feet. In addition, they
have yet to master the art of being gentle with infants.
4. A Clean, Healthy Setting
Look for a health and sanitation rules sign. This sign should address hand washing procedures
related to food preparation and diaper changes. Additionally, it should outline the steps taken to wash
and sanitize toys, feeding utensils, and pacifiers, etc.
5. A Safe Setting
Make sure there are:

Persuasive Essay On The Art Of Art
Art declares many things. It's a way for people to articulate their views, express their emotions, and
communicate to the world in a way that gives them creative release. This ability to exhibit one's
views in a imaginative and safe manner is exceptionally important to society's growth, and to border
this freedom to articulate is detrimental. Art should not be hidden and concealed permanently from
the public eye because some see it as vulgar due to the fact that many people have varying
definitions as to what is crossing the line. Only certain, obvious things can be noted as truly indecent.
Censorship is not an easy subject. As an artist, there is often a lot of tolerance for the obscene,
from appreciation to detail on the human figure or the unique renditions of animalistic
interaction. However, the majority of the public might find the same things that the artists see as
a unique interpretation as vulgar. It is easy to see that such a standpoint must be taken into more
consideration, as the point of indecency can differ greatly for a conservative Christian compared
to a liberal atheist. The two images of what each group considers unseemly would most likely
range in their obscenity, and so it would be difficult to put a line where one should be crossed. "If
an image offends very many people, sooner or later someone will invoke the law, and along with
it judges, legislators, policymakers, and the police," quotes Melinda Hinkson in Australia's Bill
Henson scandal: notes on the new cultural attitude to images. Here we have a majority rule, where
an image should only have action dealt upon it if enough people want change. Such censorship is
easy to determine when there are pieces depicting derogatory themes, such as child pornography or
racial notions. But there are multiple cases where there are two sides of the story, and it is not as
simple.
A statue named Truth is Beauty by Marco Cochrane has recently been constructed in the city of San
Leandro, here in the bay area. This statue depicts a nude woman dancing, her body semi–geometric,
and although you can not vividly see the all of the womans body parts, it is not difficult to know
that she is supposed to be depicted as naked. A completely naked figure,

Schools have been using the same learning techniques for a long time. Since technology has been
evolving, there are changes that have made schooling harder, and some changes that have made
schooling easier. For example, instead of using paper and pencil students now have iPads and their
own laptops to do their school work on. Are these more advanced changes for the better, and make
learning more convenient, or are they unfavorable and make schooling complicated and more
problematic? Most examples lead to the conclusion that laptops are more convenient. for the reason,
that they make school work easier and generate easy access to sites for research.
During the beginning of my Highschool career everybody was given an iPad; grade six to grade
twelve. However not everybody is fond of the iPads. Many students, throughout the long school
days, have come up to the library to check out a laptop because they either "lost" their iPad, or they
just don't want to use it. Many students have tried to check out laptops even when they have their
fully functioning iPads, so now whenever you want to check out a laptop you have to leave your
phone for collaboration. In almost every class teachers use the iPads, but not all teachers are fond of
the iPads either. Some teachers continue to use paper and pencil because it's more of a convenience
to them.
Laptops are more convenient for me to use because of the classes I'm currently taking. Such as my

Persuasive Essay On The Benefits Of Competitive Sports For Youth

  • 1. Persuasive Essay On Suicide In today's society, suicide can be a multifaceted issue, sometimes an act of heroism, selfishness, love, or a brave choice. I am arguing against suicide because it is not a solution to a problem, it should not even be included as an option. Suicide is simply defined as "the deliberate taking of one's own life, usually the result of a psychiatric disorder, although sometimes deliberated in the face of life–threatening physical illness, significant interpersonal stress, or when under the influence of one or more substances of abuse" (Piotrowski). This topic interests me because of the fact that the rates are increasing year after year and it can happen to someone close to me at any moment. This topic should interest you too because someone close to you can show warning signs, which can be subtle or more discernible. Also if you are reading this as a parent, you should know "suicide is the third leading cause of death for those between the ages of ten and fourteen, and it is the second leading cause of death for those ages fifteen to thirty–four" (Goff). Yet the factors that play into a someone's decision is anything but simple. The most obvious and severe effect of suicide is the loss of a meaningful, valuable human life. "In the United States in 2013, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 41,149 individuals committed suicide and approximately 494,169 received medical treatment for self–inflicted injuries. The World Health Organization (WHO) reported an estimated 800,000 suicides worldwide in 2016, and suicide is the second leading cause of death among fifteen– to twenty–nine–year–olds worldwide. Women attempt suicide more often than men, but men complete suicide more often than women because men tend to use more lethal means, such as a firearm" (Piotrowski). With suicide rates on a continuous rise in America, society must ask what can be done to save lives. The main argument against suicide is that it is selfish, which is true. By you killing yourself, it causes a lot of pain to those left behind, like your family, loved ones, friends, etc. They tend to blame themselves for your death. Even if you feel like nobody in the whole world cares about you, you are wrong. When you think Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Online Classes Most people think highly of online classes; get to work from home, get to work on a flexible schedule, and anyone can do it. Though no one has heard the cons of taking one. I personally took three semesters of online classes in high school and had a horrible experience. Because of loose scheduling, poor communication, and the focus needed, online classes are not suitable for procrastinators. To give a better understanding, I will summarize my experience with the class. Me, being a procrastinator, thought to myself: I'll just work on the weekends and if I don't finish the class by the end of the school year, I can finish within the first few weeks of summer. This was a god awful plan. Unsurprisingly, close to nothing was accomplished on the weekends. Friends would ask me to hang out every weekend, and I did every time. Why would I want to work on my class on the weekend when I could be having fun? I would later regret this decision. On the days I stayed home and could have worked on the class, I completed nothing. On these days, I would tell myself: I'll just complete what I didn't do this weekend next weekend. This rarely happened. Thus, the cycle of getting nothing accomplished started. I disregarded my class for most of the first semester of junior year. With only nine assignments out of eighty finished after the first semester of the school year, I was immensely behind. I told myself to get my act together during second semester and grind out these two semesters Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Lacrosse A high intensity game that involves physical attributes and cognitive awareness describes the sport lacrosse. People play lacrosse all over the world and the sport continues to grow in size. The sport lacrosse dates all the way back to when Indians would play for land and resources. The word lacrosse translates to "Little Brother of War". Men and women of all ages and levels play the game lacrosse to this day. At the Eastern Cincinnati Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, the sport lacrosse qualifies as a club rather than a sport. The sport lacrosse should qualify as a sport because it would reduce costs, more players would join, it offers benefits, and people would consider lacrosse as a more serious sport. In the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, male and female high schoolers who have an interest in playing the sport lacrosse, have an expensive bill to pay. The cost to have a spot on the team alone estimates to about 300 dollars. The cost covers renting the field, transportation, and the use of the weight room. Due to the fact that lacrosse does not fall under the category of qualifying as a sport, players are charged more money to cover the fees that the school does not cover. On top of the 300 dollars, a requirement for all players involves the purchasing of equipment for playing. Players are required to acquire a stick, a mouthguard, a pair of cleats, spandex, and an eyepiece. Purchasing a stick alone ranges from 50 dollars to close to 300 hundred dollars. Since the fee for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Ar 15 Persuasive Speech Lately everyone is seeing school shootings and robberies on the news and how most of these crimes are done with the the gun known as the ar–15 also known as an assault rifle.A lot of people jumped on board to ban these guns. But will that really fix our shooting problem? A strong majority of vote in 2017 voted for the banning of the ar 15 after the school shooting in florida killing multiply students.61 percent of the adults in Florida say that the ar 15 should be banned.39 percent of the adults say that background checks and looking into there history is necessary to buy in gun.The reasons for banning ar's are not to get the weapons away from normal and mentally stable people but to keep the guns of the streets and out of the reach of the kids that are capable and mentally unstable. • 5. Persuasive Essay On School Shootings Unfortunately, the notion of schools being a safe place is no longer a trend across American schools. Disturbing mass shootings in the U.S continue to shock the media. A school shooting is when someone attacks a school using a gun. The Secret Service says these shootings are "deliberately selected as the location for the attack". The reasons massacres occur in schools is because of poor security, violence in video games/media, and bullying. Shockingly the U.S. has the most school shootings than any other country in the world. According to the FBI, mass shootings occur, on average, every 2 weeks in the U.S. While the cause of school shootings are sometimes unpredictable, it is a growing issue and they need to be prevented. Most shooters don't have mental issues, they have a plan to kill, so there is no singular cause that creates violent people. On April 16th, 2007, the most deadly school massacre occurred. Seung–Hui Cho killed thirty–two students at Virginia–Tech. As Americans, we no longer should turn on the news and witness these gruesome murders. We try to make sense of these murders, but it's ineffectual. There are measures we can take as a society to help. The number one question in a school massacre is, "why would a person that has a capable sense of mind even do that?" It is our moral responsibility to fix these issues. In order to stop this problem, we need to find its roots. Society has been scared throughout the generations due to American school shootings. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Persuasive Essay On Sports Competitive sports Do you have a passion, something you love to do more than anything? Imagine people trying to stop you from doing what you love because they think it's not useful or a waste. Some people say competitive sports cost too much and they are way too dangerous for young kids to participate in. However, for many youth, competitive sports play a positive role. When kids play competitive sports, they are happier and they learn how to be healthy. Also, they learn life lessons that they will need for the future. One thing that is a positive outcome in sports is the overflowing happiness people get when they participate in competitive sports. One example is that "children who were involved in sports were more assertive, had greater confidence in their skills and physical appearance, and reported more positive feelings than those who didn't participate. (Merkal, Donna, Youth sport: positive and negative impact on young athletes, 201, May 31)." If children hold an extreme love for the sport they play, most children use that sport as an escape. Playing sports blows off steam and helps people relax. "Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed. (Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research ,Exercise: 7 benefits of regular physical activity, 1998)." Playing sports can help bring families or other kids together to build strong bonds. "It appears that US children are healthy and happy as they engage in this traditional pastime, and families report higher levels of satisfaction if their children participate. (Macdonald, Brian, Kids in Sports, Part 5: Can sports help shy kids to make friends?, 2009)." A pat on the back from a parental figure is enough to keep kids going and doing their best. Because sports make children happier, they are more prone to keep playing which all in all makes children happier and it teaches kids to do what makes them happy. With suicide being the second biggest fatality for adolescents doing what makes them happy can be a life or death situation. Correspondingly, fitness is a huge plus side of competitive sports. Diabetes is affecting around 8.6% of America's population. "More than 29 million American Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale In my revision, I decided to incorporate actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The feedback I received was that my essay needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed, I wanted to create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical thinking to help work through the weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these suggestions because they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do not believe my essay would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not being able to pin down my argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not necessarily have to be persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the experiences of the characters is the outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why you are arguing your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument was not central and a little vague. I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my essay and this helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would have reduced my challenges. This question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the issue was more clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my clarification because it is one of the main elements, that is needed when you are writing a persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your readers can have a full understanding of your Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. How To Write A Persuasive Essay Writing essay is one of the things that I used to dislike before. For me, writing an essay was a difficult and boring thing. However, I change my mind when I was doing the assignment, "Persuasive Essay". This essay is my first English essay, and it was a quite challenging task for me. In this assignment , I learned a lot. For example, to use the transition words to connect each paragraph. Also, to use other writer's words to make my idea be more powerful. Thus, this assignment improves my writing skills a lot. Before, I didn't know that I have to use the transition words in an essay. For me, an essay is constituted by many single paragraphs. However, everything is different when I was doing this assignment, Persuasive Essay. I noticed that every paragraph should support theme to make an essay stronger. Also, after Ms. Weller marked this assignment, I learned that using transition words can create a powerful link between my ideas. For example, using the word, "in addition" , can make two paragraphs connect to each other. It also can make readers understand the logic of an essay. Therefore, I' ve learned the writing skill which can make each paragraph be connected from this assignment....show more content... I really enjoyed it. As I was researching, I also could read other writer's literature. I notice that using the quote or data can make the theme of an essay be stronger and more persuasive. For example, I use the quote from Steven Crowder, the author of "TheTop 5 Reasons College May Be Waste Of Time In 2015", to support my idea, going to college is unnecessary. The quote not only can make an essay more cogent but also can make readers agree with writer's thinking. Thus, I've learned to use the quote to make my essay to more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Writing A Persuasive Essay It's a simple enough idea, write an essay about a topic for credit. I'll admit I've written good essays in the past, I just have one issue with this topic; I am not a persuasive person. I don't have a passion to write about, or an idea in my head. Even if I was passionate about something, I doubt I have the skill to convince you. My arguments would consist of why I like the topic (or hate it) with an extreme bias, and I doubt that you would be moved. I couldn't convince you that the long hours of school take a toll on the students. Even if others agree with me, the way I word things, the lack of passion and my lack of being able to be assertive is the reason why I can't write this essay. First things first, the way I word my thoughts. Regardless...show more content... You'll get this definition: "The writer takes a stand on an issue–either "for" or "against"–and builds the strongest possible argument to win over the reader. In a persuasive essay, it's the writer's job to convince the reader to accept a particular point of view or take a specific action." Along with a bunch of How Tos. I've have taken a stand that is very passive–aggressive, on why I can't write this essay. I know what you're thinking, this is ridiculous. Just think of it like this, as you sit there reading me ramble on and give excuses. You're starting to listen. Yes, you have been in my spot before, lack of passion words don't form right and you're just not clear enough. I see the irony here, this very essay, it contradicts itself. A persuasive essay on why I can't write a persuasive essay. In the end it's genius, I'm not faking an opinion or sing someone's thoughts. You might have considered this option before but it seemed too stupid. You looked up prompt after prompt. Nothing. When you finally settle you know it's not your best work and the grade shows. Or you did it last minute, reworded someone else's essay. You've even considered turning in nothing, I mean what's the point Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Persuasive Essay On Success Goals, something every human being on this planet has and to reach those goals you must be successful. We set goals to fulfill our purpose in life, but to do that, you must be successful in meeting and completing those goals. "How Bad Do You Want It?" is a motivational speech that highlights the requirements of being successful. This speech is important to study because success is so vital and important for our survival as human beings, it changes the world. No matter your race, religion, culture, etc., you want to be successful and that will have a different definition for everyone, because only you can define what success means to you. "How Bad Do You Want It" encourages its audience to think differently about wanting to be successful and how to make it happen. This speech holds all the components Aristotle says a speech needs to be effective which include, persuasive, decorative, and informational, also meaning motivational, actionable, and fun (Morgan, 2016). While watching the football player perform each exercise repeatedly, I witnessed the effort and dedication he exerted through each set – this commitment resonated with me, as I am also an athlete who is expected to elicit these qualities. Not only hay, the video serves as confirmation that success is only attainable for those who want it bad enough and are willing to work for it. Even the background music playing provoked an internal motivation to be proactive. By delivering Eric Thomas's speech in his unique hip Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Persuasive Narrative Essay Have you ever had one of those days where you never wanted it to end? All the joy comes spilling out of you and you don't want it to stop? Well, that was the day I didn't know I had. As I roused out of my sleep, I heard somebody rushing up the stairs and opening my door. " Arlene, wake up we have to leave soon!" My mom bellowed as I started to lift the blue blanket off myself. We were going to California today and I couldn't wait! I went and packed my toothbrush, glasses, contacts, and whatever else I needed. As I rushed downstairs, I smelled the eggs my mom was making us as I gave my luggage to my dad. I couldn't wait for this adventure to begin, but I didn't know how much fun I would really have! "Please fasten your seatbelt the plane is about to land," the flight attendant addressed over the loudspeaker. I squealed as I put my headphones away and turned my phone off. "Ahhhh, I can't believe we're about to land!" I told Armaan. While the plane was landing, we saw the Hollywood Sign, buildings, many hills, and not to mention palm trees! "Wow, look at this view!" I exclaimed as the plane started to dart down at full speed. Finally, we were here. As soon as I got out I felt a nice breeze, and I started to make my way out of the plane and to the baggage area. "I can't believe we're here!" Armaan beamed while my dad went to go pick up a car. We found our bags and headed outside when the hot sun blazed right at me. • 12. Persuasive essay Love is a beautiful thing. It makes people happy. It can change a person, and show someone things that they never knew about themselves. It lifts one up, knowing there is always someone who will stand by their side through anything. It brings people together, and makes the world a better place. Some people may disagree; they might think love is just a fantasy. Either way, it is a fantasy that everyone deserves to dream of and experience in all its glory, whether straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. However, not all people are so accepting of love when it is not in the form that they are familiar with, or is not demonstrated in ways that they think are proper. He said: "Gay men and lesbians are among the most talented people out there. Needless and hurtful laws [banning same–sex marriage] drive them away. They also drive away innovative people of any sexual orientation who simply want to live in a place that respects and celebrates the diversity of life." He continued by saying: "my happiness has never depended on depriving others of their happiness. My marriage has never needed the exclusion of others from marriage. I am not threatened by seeing others find love and celebrate it." Gays are normal people just like anyone else, who struggle with their identities and live in search of success, love, and happiness. Prejudiced laws banning same–sex marriage needlessly keep these people from natural human desires. No damage is done to society by letting same–sex couple marry and lead more content, loving lives. If anything, it makes our country a better, happier place. While adult non–heterosexuals are regularly discriminated against via their denied access from legal marriage, those much younger face constant discrimination Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Persuasive Lying Essay Persuasive Lying Essay People often say that honesty is the best policy. You should listen to them they know what they're talking about. Lying. In the dictionary the definition of lying is an "intentionally told false statement" but the dictionary doesn't list the consequences of a lie or why said false statements were used. So, I'll have to do it. I know that no one wants to hear that they look fat or grotesque , or that the ugly sweater they gave someone for Christmas will never see anything but the inside of a closet. We as humans believe that telling a lie will avoid unnecessary conflict. Does it though? They also think lying could gain themselves attention. But would they want the attention after a while? Some people also believe ...show more content... Or to you having a boyfriend or girlfriend before they think your old enough? Each parent in the world is different but they all have some form of punishment. One other example would be lying to a teacher, someone with a position of authority in a school. A student can lie about the reason they were late to class to the old "my dog ate my homework" excuse. This kind of lying is very difficult for the person telling the lie, because it involves telling someone who is in a position of authority what he or she wants to hear. The student lying doesn't tell the truth to avoid unnecessary conflict and it is studied that always telling the truth leads to more bad than good. Another example would be those who lie to a police officer or any person related to the law. You could tell him or her you didn't murder your algebra teacher just because you hate math but you actually did or you could be selling drugs and telling them you aren't. If you do it once whose to say you won't do it again? These things are very serious as well as having serious consequences. So just tell them the truth. At the very least you'll feel better without the heavy burden of knowing that you've lied. Lying to avoid conflict will only result in an even bigger confrontation of what it could've been if you had told the truth in the first place. Another reason someone might lie is to gain attention. It can be from parents, strangers, and even your friends. Children. From the day they're born Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Persuasive Essay On Choices In Life I believe that everyone in this life has choices. The choices we make define who we are as people and what we stand for. Choosing one path over another may be the best or worst decision you could ever make. However, once you have chosen, stick to your decision because you made that choice for a reason. Even if it is to have lunch at a certain restaurant over another, or a bigger decision like choosing your major. Something in your life helped you make that decision, and the worst thing you can do is live your life with the regret of a choice. If your decision ends up badly, simply make another choice. Choose a new path. In the words of my oh so wise History teacher, "Never second guess yourself because that's worse than making the wrong choice in the end." One of the best examples that comes to mind is a story I heard a few weeks ago, based on a real event. In 1979, a man named Lee Strobel and his family went to a restaurant one evening and he gave his 7 year old daughter a nickel to get a gumball from the machine and a few moments later, she came back to the table choking on the gum. They didn't know what to do and if they waited for an ambulance they feared it would be too late. All of a sudden, a woman came up and said that she is a nurse and can help. The woman, after getting the gumball out of the little girl, told her parents that her and her husband were headed to another restaurant when all of a sudden she made a last minute choice to go here. Because of her choice, a little girl's life was saved. Hearing stories such as this one, reminds me of all of the choices I have made, and how they have affected me. When I was 6, my family up and moved to a new school called Knox County. I loved it there for I had so many friends and nothing bad ever happened. Then at the end of 5th grade, my dad got a new job so we moved schools again. This time I was 11 and starting middle school at a small school called Pilot Grove, and I've been here ever since. There are times I catch myself wondering what would've happened if we had stayed in Knox or the first town I ever lived in, Philadelphia (no not the one in Pennsylvania). Sometimes I even believe that things would be a lot better if we had stayed there. There are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Persuasive Essay "Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics," announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. "What is your topic Cindy?" As usual in such desperate times, my mind turned to food. "Waffles are better than pancakes." I figured that awaffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. "Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!" I survived to live yet another day. As I walked to lunch, I went around and asked everyone the age old question: "Do you like Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 20. Persuasive Essay On The Art Of Art Art declares many things. It's a way for people to articulate their views, express their emotions, and communicate to the world in a way that gives them creative release. This ability to exhibit one's views in a imaginative and safe manner is exceptionally important to society's growth, and to border this freedom to articulate is detrimental. Art should not be hidden and concealed permanently from the public eye because some see it as vulgar due to the fact that many people have varying definitions as to what is crossing the line. Only certain, obvious things can be noted as truly indecent. Censorship is not an easy subject. As an artist, there is often a lot of tolerance for the obscene, from appreciation to detail on the human figure or the unique renditions of animalistic interaction. However, the majority of the public might find the same things that the artists see as a unique interpretation as vulgar. It is easy to see that such a standpoint must be taken into more consideration, as the point of indecency can differ greatly for a conservative Christian compared to a liberal atheist. The two images of what each group considers unseemly would most likely range in their obscenity, and so it would be difficult to put a line where one should be crossed. "If an image offends very many people, sooner or later someone will invoke the law, and along with it judges, legislators, policymakers, and the police," quotes Melinda Hinkson in Australia's Bill Henson scandal: notes on the new cultural attitude to images. Here we have a majority rule, where an image should only have action dealt upon it if enough people want change. Such censorship is easy to determine when there are pieces depicting derogatory themes, such as child pornography or racial notions. But there are multiple cases where there are two sides of the story, and it is not as simple. A statue named Truth is Beauty by Marco Cochrane has recently been constructed in the city of San Leandro, here in the bay area. This statue depicts a nude woman dancing, her body semi–geometric, and although you can not vividly see the all of the womans body parts, it is not difficult to know that she is supposed to be depicted as naked. A completely naked figure, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 21. Persuasive Essay Schools have been using the same learning techniques for a long time. Since technology has been evolving, there are changes that have made schooling harder, and some changes that have made schooling easier. For example, instead of using paper and pencil students now have iPads and their own laptops to do their school work on. Are these more advanced changes for the better, and make learning more convenient, or are they unfavorable and make schooling complicated and more problematic? Most examples lead to the conclusion that laptops are more convenient. for the reason, that they make school work easier and generate easy access to sites for research. During the beginning of my Highschool career everybody was given an iPad; grade six to grade twelve. However not everybody is fond of the iPads. Many students, throughout the long school days, have come up to the library to check out a laptop because they either "lost" their iPad, or they just don't want to use it. Many students have tried to check out laptops even when they have their fully functioning iPads, so now whenever you want to check out a laptop you have to leave your phone for collaboration. In almost every class teachers use the iPads, but not all teachers are fond of the iPads either. Some teachers continue to use paper and pencil because it's more of a convenience to them. Laptops are more convenient for me to use because of the classes I'm currently taking. Such as my CIS comp, CIS world history, and my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
