1. Belial – The wicked ruler

2. Background
• He is the ruling spirit of wickedness. There are a host of demons that operate
under his command.
• Belial is mentioned 27 times in the Old Testament and once in the New
Testament.
• Belial from the Hebrew word is translated as wicked, ungodly and naughty.
• Strong’s definition of Belial is without profit, worthless, destruction, wickedness,
evil. The most common used in the word of God is worthlessness.
• Webster’s definition of worthless is valueless, useless, despicable(veragtelik).
Despicable is defined as to rouse moral indignation.
• Therefore Belial’s work is to cause men to commit sins that are vile and that it
rouses moral indignation(verontwaardiging).

3. The works of Belial
• Belial works with Jezebel to seduce the servants of the Lord into fornication and
idolatry. Jezebel can manifest through false teachings and it is a seducing spirit,
not just seducing sexually as most interpretations but seducing causing
confusion! Jezebel influences people by manipulation and intimidation.
• Belial causes men to act without conscience – go read the story of Naboth in 1
Kings 21:9,10,13,14. Therefore Apostle Paul writes to Timothy saying that there
would be those having their conscience seared/cauterized (means deaden),
read 1 Tim 4:2.
• Think of gangsters who kill and rape – they have been bound by the Spirit of
Belial. Men without a conscience are capable of committing acts without feeling
remorse(berou).
• Every person is born with a conscience. When the conscience is seared
(deaden) men and woman are open to all kinds of unclean spirits and capable of
all sorts of unclean acts.

4. The works of Belial
• Belial was at work when a Levite’s concubine was degraded, read Judges
19:22-25 – Belial’s work of rape & sexual abuse!
• Watch victims of rape or sexual abuse have a spirit of death that came in them
during the violation – the concubine died after these vile acts against her!
• Belial also operates through alcohol & drunkenness. Drunkenness is the way to
break down the morals and open people up to lust and perversion. The spirit of
alcohol & drunkenness operates under the strongman of Belial. The spirits of
perversion including homosexuality and lesbianism operate under the
strongman of Belial.
• Belial works also to bring uncleanness to the temple of God. The ministry/church
is the target of this spirit. Belial desires to draw the servant of the Lord, His
anointed, into sin (especially sexual sin) to bring reproach(verwyt) to the church.
Think about this….so many men of God had fallen into this sin.
• Belial works to cause men to get involved in sins that are abominable and bring
the curse of God.

5. The works of Belial
• Another manifestation of Belial is to REJECT the Lord’s anointed! This is the
spirit of irreverence and disrespect for the ones that are sent by God. Belial
hates the anointed of the Lord!
• Belial will cause individuals to not support men and woman sent by God.
• Belial hates the Lord’s anointed. Preachers and teachers anointed by God are
hindrances to Belial’s work! Team think about this…..we have had many people
who left this ministry because of this Spirit that disrespect the anointed and
appointed servants of God! TAKE NOTE.
• Anointed and appointed servants of God brings deliverance and restoration in
the Kingdom and that retrains and influence Belial’s work!
• Read 1 Sam 25:10 – an example of how the Spirit of Belial causes disrespect to
the Lord’s anointed – Nabal said who is David? …team again think of this kind
of behavior even in our own team recently! You have a spirit of Belial working in
you if you disrespect and or question the anointed one of the Lord….. Think
about this and repent

6. The works of Belial
• Belial also works by cursing God’s anointed! Read 2 Sam 16:5-7, Shimei was angry at
the fact that David has succeeded Saul as king.
• A curse is an evil word spoken against a person or a thing. Words spoken against the
servants of God are SPIRITUAL ARROWS sent to destroy and hurt the servants of
God. They are what the Word refers to as the “fiery darts of the wicked” (Eph 6:16).
• These words are witchcraft attacks against the servants of the Lord. They are spiritual
missiles directed towards the Lord’s anointed. Life & death are in the power of the
tongue (Prov 18:21). This is one of the methods Belial used to direct his assault against
the servants of the Lord.
• Belial causes men to be selfish and unconcerned about others. Belial is only
concerned about himself. This was the attitude manifested by Nabal – read 1 Sam
30:22. He was greedy and selfish and manifested an attitude that was worthless.
• Team think about how many times you had “worthless” things to say against an
anointed servant of God. How many times we disrespected instructions by the anointed
servant of God….here I am not just talking about PBM……but within your church as
well.

7. The works of Belial
• By now I am sure like me you can identify people with this spirit. Even
things will come to mind when you had this spirit of was influenced by this
spirit.
• Remember guard against spiritual jealously/dislikeness towards the
appointed/anointed servants of God.
