Introducing Geography
into English Classroom

Why do we dislike teaching geography?
 Too many facts.
 Scattered all over the course.
 We do not like/ understand it 
How can we build it into language teaching?
 Any topic has to be built on categories.
 These categories have to promote speaking and thinking skills.
Advantages of knowing geography:
 Broadens horizons,
 Is perfect for Cause-and – Effect.
How?
 Start with continents and oceans, but do it in categories – then you can talk
about them.
1.World Map – Revision. Study the map and fill in the gaps:
Equator
Teach nationalities – over all years.
Learn climate zones and biomes –
systematically:
2. Complete the gaps with the names for climate.
