SITUATION#09
Your superior has appointed you to head a taskforce that is far overdue in
making requested recommendations for change. The group is not clear
about its goals. Attendance at sessions has been poor; the meetings have
turned into social gatherings. Potentially, the group has the skills to help.
Identify Problem:
The case clearly explains how serious the problems are with the group. The working
conditions are not conducive to productivity. The organization’s goals and objectives are
severely demoted and obfuscated. These goals need meticulous instructing. Moreover,
there’s lack of motivation among group members and the morale is very low this is why
they don’t attend sessions to discuss and track the performance and over all progress of
the organization.
Generating alternatives solution:
 Let the group work it out.
 Incorporate group recommendations, but see that objectives are met.
 Redefine goals and supervise carefully.
 Allow group involvement in setting goals, but do not push.
Evaluating Alternatives:
 Let the group work it out
This alternative suggests leaving the grave conditions to the group which is still not clear
over its goals. The group needs redirecting by the supervisor, therefore the alternative is
not going to work for now.
 Incorporate group recommendations, but see
that objectives are met
The supervisor may also hold meeting and bring the heads together to incorporate their
valuable opinions and motivate them to work potentially well.
 Redefine goals and supervise carefully.
Redefining goals is most essential to emphasize the importance of the goals which are
obscure and not clear .The alternative will maximize the competence and caliber and
eliminate all bungling of internal affairs. The supervisor ought to set tasks and assign
responsibilities to each specific individual capitalize their potential and achieve
organizational goals and objectives.
 Allow group involvement in setting goals, but do
not push
The group shouldn’t be forced to take interest in setting goals unless they desire for it.
Listen to their recommendations and coordinate with one another.
******MAKING A CHOICE *******
 Redefine goals and supervise carefully
The reason why this choice is made, because the group needed most comprehensive
knowledge and clear understanding of the organizational goals which were not clear to
the group before. Once the goals are understood the group will peruse in systematic way
to achieve them. In the mean time the supervisor must ensure to motivate and develop
their enthusiasm to attend the session on regular basis.
IMPLEMENTING THE DECISION:
In order to implement the alternative, call a meeting with the whole staff and discuss the
poor performance and level of motivation to peruse the goals. If there are any private
matters or problem that is reflecting the work ethic of the company, have a meeting and
discuss about what is it that is not helping with the work place as it should reflect on the
safety of the work area.
EVALUATING THE DECISION:
The supervisor must emphasize each one of the group member to report back the progress
individually and evaluate his performances and involvement in discussion sessions.

Attendance at sessions has been poor; the meetings have turned into social gatherings. Potentially, the group has the skills to help. Identify Problem: The case clearly explains how serious the problems are with the group. The working conditions are not conducive to productivity. The organization’s goals and objectives are severely demoted and obfuscated. These goals need meticulous instructing. Moreover, there’s lack of motivation among group members and the morale is very low this is why they don’t attend sessions to discuss and track the performance and over all progress of the organization. Generating alternatives solution:  Let the group work it out.  Incorporate group recommendations, but see that objectives are met.  Redefine goals and supervise carefully.  Allow group involvement in setting goals, but do not push. Evaluating Alternatives:  Let the group work it out This alternative suggests leaving the grave conditions to the group which is still not clear over its goals. The group needs redirecting by the supervisor, therefore the alternative is not going to work for now.  Incorporate group recommendations, but see that objectives are met The supervisor may also hold meeting and bring the heads together to incorporate their valuable opinions and motivate them to work potentially well.  Redefine goals and supervise carefully. Redefining goals is most essential to emphasize the importance of the goals which are obscure and not clear .The alternative will maximize the competence and caliber and eliminate all bungling of internal affairs. The supervisor ought to set tasks and assign responsibilities to each specific individual capitalize their potential and achieve organizational goals and objectives.  Allow group involvement in setting goals, but do not push The group shouldn’t be forced to take interest in setting goals unless they desire for it. Listen to their recommendations and coordinate with one another. ******MAKING A CHOICE *******  Redefine goals and supervise carefully The reason why this choice is made, because the group needed most comprehensive knowledge and clear understanding of the organizational goals which were not clear to the group before. Once the goals are understood the group will peruse in systematic way

IMPLEMENTING THE DECISION: In order to implement the alternative, call a meeting with the whole staff and discuss the poor performance and level of motivation to peruse the goals. If there are any private matters or problem that is reflecting the work ethic of the company, have a meeting and discuss about what is it that is not helping with the work place as it should reflect on the safety of the work area. EVALUATING THE DECISION: The supervisor must emphasize each one of the group member to report back the progress individually and evaluate his performances and involvement in discussion sessions.
