2. Northern Philippines Group
(also known as the Cordilleran languages) are one of the few established large groups
within Philippine languages. These are mostly located in and around the Cordillera
Central of northern Luzon in the Philippines. Among its major languages are Ilokano,
Pangasinan and Ibanag.
This is divided into two subgroups: Northern Luzon and Bashic -Central Luzon-
Northern Mindoro. The Northern Luzon subgroup is composed of Southern
Cordilleran, Ilokano, and South-Central Cordilleran; The second subgroup is composed
of Bashic, Central Luzon, and Northern Mindoro languages.
