An interactive process characterized by a unique
relationship between the counselor and client
that leads to change in one or more of the
following areas:
Behavior
Beliefs or emotional concerns relating to
perceptions
Level of emotional distress

DO’s
Keep the surrounding clean and neat to make
the client feel relaxed and interested in you.
Make the client comfortable by being friendly.
Ensure your client is relaxed and has confidence
in you.
Try to understand the psychology of the patient.

Speak in clear and audible tone and speak
in soft voice especially with children.
Dress soberly
Attentation is very important to client.

Do not begin the counseling immediately.
Do not stop your client from talking.
Do not dress against the dressing code of your
area.
Do not use exaggerated gesture.
Do not bring in personal biases in your views.
