Myth Of Zachariah
The Myth of Zachariah
There once was a young man named Zachariah Kellerhoff. A rather skinny, small, and weak young
man that has never been athletic or paid attention to. Always in the dark or in the corner with no
friends and avoided by almost everyone, except for his mother. His mother cared for him in all
ways.
They lived together in a tribe full of great warriors. The tribe's name, The Comanche. Zachariah was
obviously an outcast, but a skilled one. Every open time he had he was shooting his bow or
throwing his javelin. He became very skilled at archery and javelin while everyone else worked with
swords, horses, or slingshots.
Zachariah had a big thing to look forward to, his mom's birthday! He always loved his mom's
birthday, his mom's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
'Ahhh!!!!!", Zachariah screamed in agony. "You shouldn't have messed with me you scrawny boy!"
Thou shout walked towards Zachariah, as Zachariah crawled frantically away. It was helpless
though, his bow was dragging him down and there was an edge 2 ft away from him. Thou Shout
stood over him, looked him in the eyes and took a deep breath and looked down, about to blast
flames, and right as flames started to form in the back of Thou shouts mouth, Zachariah notched his
bow, closed his eyes and said,"This is for you mom" And

Hyrra Lardsen: A Narrative Fiction
Hyrra woke up to Calder looming over her, poking her forehead, "What?" Why is he in my room?
Then she looked around, oh, I must have fallen asleep in the stables... gross. Stormbreaker abruptly
woke up with her stirring and stared at Calder distrustfully. Three days of 'quality time' and he's not
getting better.
"Sleeping in the stables now? What's next eating raw fish?" Calder joked.
"Haha," She laughed dryly "... what time is it?" She yawned, stretching her arms overhead.
"Almost noon."
She gaped at him, "Ah! I missed class!" Korinta's going to be angry.
Calder chuckled, "You'll be fine it was an obstacle course from what I heard, which we all know you
two are good enough at."
"Still... Korinta's going to chew me out." She sighed, leaning back ... Show more content on

His eyes seemed panicked and his wings were tucked close to his body, very reminiscent of the
dragon she had met in the cage. Hyrra ignored him and went to move around him, and he lit up. She
jumped back, "Woah!" He's using his lightning against me?! "What is wrong with you?! Stop that!"
The lightning along his spine fizzled out, maybe it was just an accident? This time, instead of
walking around him, she walked at him, hoping he would move. He didn't. He stood fast in one
spot, snarling. She snorted back at him and went to push his nose out of the way with her right hand.
She saw the flash of blue too

The Existence Of A Lie-Destructive Dragon
In this world, in the presence of a lie–consuming dragon, lies take the form of monsters. The size of
said monsters depend on the severity of the lie being told, and how badly the liar doesn't want to be
found out. But this doesn't apply to all dragons, however. Dragons come into existence to fulfill the
need or a strong wish of a human. A human who has seen all of their loved ones die and firmly
wishes for solace will bring about an immortal dragon. A human who has been trapped all their life
will bring about a dragon with powers of intangibility. It's not a hard concept to grasp, really.
About a year and a half ago, as I was walking from town to town, I came across a dragon egg that
later hatched into who I now know as Efina, a short, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Standing in the unusually silent and coffee shop, I examined the corpse laying in the middle of the
tiled floor.
"Hmm..."
I must have been so lost in thought that I didn't notice when Susan Brande, the chief detective in the
area, walked in the room. Susan walks past the both of us and stares intently at the body. Her
partner, a younger girl by the name of Daira Reagan, happily follows, eyeing the body curiously as
well.
Susan's gaze on the body does not falter. "Brandon Miller, Age 24. Death by deliberate
strangulation," the older woman said plainly. "The red eyes and dark marks on his neck show that
much. And by the shape of the marks, he was most likely strangled with that pink tie that's hanging
from his neck." She looked at me and her expression turns gentle. "Joshua Trotwood, right? It's nice
to see you again."
Chief Detective Susan Brande has been in the force for at least 10 years. She's highly envied for her
great resilience, and her ability to be conspicuous when she wants to be. She is a child prodigy; the
first case she solved was at the age of 14, and she's solved all the ones she was put in charge of after
that. Her incredible talent has gotten her pretty famous around these parts. I met her once before
when I was buying information, which explains how she knew my

My Family Monologue
I took a deep sigh as mom said I had to help clean out her closet. I started by the neon colored shirts
and worked my way to the buttoned blouses. Mom decided it was time we take a break. So my mom
and I went downstairs and each had a bowl of pretzels and a glass of orange juice, boy was I
hungry!
We went back upstairs and immediately got back to work. Mom couldn 't get inside the closet to the
hard–to–reach places, but sadly I could. I plopped myself inside my mom 's dark and dusty closet.
Mom said she was running downstairs to get some garbage bags for old clothes. After she left, I
looked inside the closet and saw a little shining light. I reached for the light and found this old dusty
journal like book. I took the book with me and saw ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I heard something sneaking up behind me. I turned around and looked up above...almost 50 feet tall.
I had seen my first dragon! The dragon was kind of orange and had grey speckled spots on it. It
changed color as fast as a pin dropping. It had 4 horns on its head, and tremendously magnificent
wings. The dragon saw me and unhinged its jaw. Out came a fiery mist of heat, it was red with
strands of blue. When I screamed for help the dragon froze.
The dragon bowed down to my ankles and said "My name is Garonie and I promise to not harm
you. What is your name human creature?"
"Rihanna Lucc..." I murmured quietly.
"Well it is a pleasure to meet–––" exclaimed Garonie.
Before he could finish I asked "Where am I?"
He refused to tell me what the amazing land was called. Garonie said I would have to figure that one
out by myself. I was confused and startled, I decided it was time for me to hustle on back to the
human world. But I was lost, had no shelter, and not a single clue about anything.
"Rise and shine sunshine," roared Garonie.
Garonie had waken me up in dragon hours which basically for me means waking up at 3 in the
morning. Garonie said that he was going to introduce me to his other dragon friends. I rejected and
explained how I need to find my way back to the human world. But when Garonie told me the
names of all the dragons, I heard the one that was written in the journal before. "syfbu" and "kgbus"
were two of the names that were in the journal, and

The Dragons Of Legend : The Epic Of Gilgamesh
"The dragons of legend are strangely like actual creatures that have lived in the past. They are much
like the great reptiles which inhabited the earth long before man is supposed to have appeared on
earth. Dragons were generally evil and destructive. Every country had them in its mythology."
(Knox, Wilson, "Dragon," The World Book Encyclopedia, 1973) Dragons are told in almost every
culture known to man. Descriptions of the Dragon have been written, drawn, and told in culture that
could have never met. From the North American Native tribes to the great civilization of China,
Dragons have been told. Why is that? Through my research on this, I have concluded many theories,
but all these theories still don't answer my question. In order to get the answer to my question, we
will have to re–explore all my research.
The first civilization to have recorded a dragon like creature is the ancient Assyria in form of a poem
called "Epic of Gilgamesh". In this poem, Enkidu and Gilgamesh goes to slay a monster called
Humbaba. Humbaba is describe to have scale–like skin, horns, a serpent tail, and was able to breath
fire. This was around 2100 BC and this could have been the starting point of myths surrounding
Dragons in the middle east.
However, a little after this time, a great civilization had brewed up north of ancient Assyria. We
known them as the Greeks, in which surrounded themselves in mythology, that their myths can still
be told today. In fact, one of the Greeks most popular

The royal wizard, sitting next to Titus, jumped to his feet and called to the king, "But sire, he is but a

his head, his hand wide open, his palm facing the wizard In loud and clear voice, the king said, "I

Book Report On Becoming The Dragon By Alex Sapegin
Becoming the Dragon by Alex Sapegin, the first installment in a series called The Dragon Inside,
follows the story of a teenager named Andy who goes through a series of drastic life changes.
Before the events of the novel, Andy is struck by lightning on a class field trip. He survives the
strike but is sentenced to never cross paths with computers because of the electrical charges he gives
off causing computers to freeze and shut down. Even though Andy loves computer games, this
forces him to find alternatives for entertainment, such as learning to cook and even taking up
archery from a neighbor. He seemed to be doing well in his life until his sister gives him the task of
taking documents to their father's office.
Andy accidentally stumbles into the middle of a science experiment, and the results are "out of this
world". He is taken through a portal to the planet Ilanta, full of both magical creatures and other
humans, and little did he know that his skills in archery would need to come in handy for his
survival. While searching for a way home, Andy meets a number of characters (some human and
others not–so–human) who either want to help him or kill him. He ultimately has to turn himself
into a dragon in order to live, and it seems as though he was born to become one. ... Show more

Dragons In J. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit
What does the word "dragon" mean to us? Generally, if one is asked this question, the response
would be "unintelligent dangerous weapons of destruction". However, this is not the case in J.R.R
Tolkien's "The Hobbit", nor is it true for the early mythology of dragons. Instead, this modern
definition is replaced with one of, "greedy, intelligent beings with human characteristics". Hence, a
question arises as to why the image of dragons has been drastically downgraded throughout
literature? To answer this question, I will first begin by isolating passages from Tolkien's "The
Hobbit" in an attempt to describe certain features of Smaug the magnificent. Afterwards, I will
partake in exemplifying the written style of dragons in the history of literature ... Show more content

Traditional dragons were portrayed when the certain writers have been able to preserve the wonder
of the creatures. Whereas, modern dragons are illustrated when select stories have implemented new
components that have served as counter–productive as depicted by the Harry Potter series which
relegates the true plot potential of these beasts. Additionally, these modern dragons tend to be
obstacles for the main hero to overcome, which is a stark contrast from the traditional dragons.
Therefore, for what reason have writers decided to downgrade the beasts? Unerman (2002) puts
forth the belief that "fictional evil is more convincing and more frightening when people, not
dragons, are the true enemy" (pg. 100). In addition, another argument could be made in that dragons
such as Smaug will overshadow the main human villain, therefore, by downgrading the beasts to
simple plot obstacles, it allows for the dragons not to overshadow the main villain, and I cannot
accept either argument. Suggesting that "humanity" allows for more engaging villains is absurd,
considering that the simple task of personifying a dragon in Smaug made for one of the greatest,
psychologically complicated, and utmost captivating villain in all of literature. Nonetheless, one
may argue that Tolkien's Smaug serves as the same purpose as a dragon in the Harry Potter series; a
plot obstacle that cause destruction. Granted that this notion may appear plausible, it proves false in
terms of characteristics of the dragons individually. In other words, the dragon in Harry Potter
happens to be illustrated as regular animal that features no unique qualities, whereas Smaug is
categorized as a complex and unique character, in terms of his motives, intelligence, and the threat
he poses to those who dare challenge

How To Train Your Dragon Analysis
'How To Train Your Dragon', a 2010 film directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, uses the film
codes to enhance the audience's understanding of the film. 'How To Train Your Dragon' tells the tale
of a hapless young Viking named Hiccup, who befriends a dragon named Toothless. Together, they
teach the island of Berk about acceptance and overcoming differences. While producing the
directors used the film codes to add interest and understanding to the film, enhancing the overall
enjoyment of the film. The character code allows to better understand the personality of and have a
deeper connection with the characters. Representational code benefits the audience by letting them
decipher what the character represents. Meanwhile, the technical code uses film–making equipment
to give more information about the characters, scenes and the film in its entirety. The character code
enables the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the characters.
The character code enables the audience to better understand the characters by offering insight into
the personalities of the characters. The character code requires the audience to analyse the
character's speech to better understand the character's personality, actions and behaviour. This is
done through the examination of the accent, tone, pitch, pace and volume of the character/s
speaking. This is evident in the Hiccup Initiation Ceremony Confession Scene in which Hiccup spits
out, "I'm not one of them.". He states this loudly, in a low pitch, slowly spitting out the words in a
chilling manner with a cold and harsh tone. Therefore, the audience interprets this as Hiccup
displaying himself as being different to the other Vikings in the manner of behaving in an amiable
fashion towards dragons. The audience subsequently comes to the conclusion that Hiccup has a
compassionate, understanding and altruistic personality, denoting his willingness to overcome bias
and promote difference. The character code is also apparent in the Opening Scene where Stoick
harshly declares, "What are you doing out? Get inside!". Stoick speedily demanded this
thunderingly, in a low pitch with an accusing and demanding tone. As a result of this, the audience

A Summary On The Book ' Leonidas ' Essay
Chapter One
Leonidas needed a way to die.
He ran straight at the cave wall, head first, and bashed himself senseless. At least, he vaguely
remembered doing that when he woke up with his scaly dragon face flat on the floor. It was stupid,
but it was worth a try. His wyvern form was even tougher than his normal bullet–proof skin and
inherent dragon healing powers. He'd tried slashing his wrists, but his fae runes just scurried to heal
them. He could keep re–cutting, but when he passed out from the blood loss, the wounds would
heal, and he'd wake up still very much alive. Repeated attempts just kept him out longer while his
blood regenerated.
It was fucking hard to kill a dragon.
He dragged his sorry wyvern ass up to front of the cave–ti was a pocket of mountain he'd carved out
over a decade ago, once he got close to the end of his days. At least he'd made it to his tomb before
he lost his mind entirely, which meant Rosalyn was safe from his wyvern's savage need to take her
by force, seal her with his dragonfire, and then rape her until he impregnated her with his child. A
shudder ran through him with that horrifying thought. He'd flown away from the keep as fast as he
could, then he'd thrown up the protection runes around his tomb that would forever lock his beast
inside. His wyvern, with its beastly mindlessness, would be trapped, unable to open the magic cage
he'd summoned.
The only problem? Half a day had passed, and he was still in his right mind.
Leonidas sat at the lip

Theme Of Greed In The Hobbit
Greed is a common, yet detrimental factor in society today. All around the world people experience
this type of attribute, whether it is for power or for the simple concept of desiring more in life. In
order to further this prevalent theme, Peter Jackson created the film The Hobbit–Desolation of
Smaug, in 2013. In this film, he continued the adventure of Bilbo Baggins and the dwarves and set
them off to reclaim their ancient dwarven city guarded by the dragon, Smaug. Throughout the entire
movie, the characters face many tough obstacles, those being orcs, elves and most importantly the
evil dragon. Those elves actually came to their rescue later on in the movie, proving their loyalty.
Those noble elves were Tauriel and Legolas. Also, a major character in the movie was Gandalf,
which was the powerful wizard. In the movie, he aided in their adventure by leading them to the
proper trail while also providing them with many struggles they may encounter on the way. While
all of the characters and setting play a key role in shaping the movie as a whole, the theme of greed
is a much greater aspect throughout the film. Peter Jackson implements personification, symbolism,
and foreshadowing in his movie in order to point his audience towards the bigger message, greed is
the root of all evil.
To provide his message with further reasoning, Jackson employed the rhetorical device of
personification. This device is prevalent throughout the entire movie as he gives human
characteristics to animals and also different species. By doing so he not only added another
rhetorical device to his film but he most importantly, furthered his theme by showing how it is
thought about by different characters in the movie, along with their own perspectives on the matter.
For example, in the movie the dragon is a prime representation of greed. During one scene in the
movie you see this characteristic come into play when all that is surrounding the dragon is gold and
many treasures, far more than you could ever imagine. The dragon simply kills for treasure, collects
treasure, and does nothing but lie upon it and prove his worth to those surrounding him. This
technique showed the audience how characters and creatures in a certain film exhibit

While communication and dialog are key to the story with the characters and the story line, it also
helps with the imagery of the story and helping it develop the image of the story. "'In case you do , I
feel sure it could help Firedrake.'" (pg 762) This is one of the characters in the book describing how
she feels while talking assisting the audience. Cornelia Funke uses references to different and
relatable sounds for the reader. Using relatable or well known sounds can make it more relatable for
the reader to picture the sound in their head. To give an illustration, Funke describes a scene as,
"screeches sounding desperate...cawing horsley." Since there is mythical creatures in the story she
has to make it familiar to the reader to know that it is going on and to describe the creature. She also
using resonance in the story to help describe the sound going on; also to help the reader understand
a powerful and important message she is trying to get by in the story. "Feed the story with patience,
passion and time to have an impact on the message." (Funke) as she describes in an interview with

American Dragon Research Paper
What is the first thing that comes into your mind when you think of the word dragon? Myth?
Conspiracy? Well, there's a lot more to dragons then you may think. According to legend, there are
many kinds: European, Asian, sea serpent, fire drake, great earth dragon, water dragon, golden
dragon. The list goes on. Those were the ones that will be discussed now. The prehistoric dragon
was the root of the whole family(documentary). First appearing in the late Jurassic, it was an
unknown threat to most other dinosaurs who dared to cross its path. It was mostly black, with a
variety of different colored eye spots on it's wings, usually being yellow or red. Unlike most dragons
later in the paper, it had only legs and wings, no arms. It had two short, curly horns protruding from
the back of it's head. A fully–grown prehistoric dragon could be ... Show more content on

The fire drake would usually be depicted as a European dragon, with some minor ultications. It
could talk, and reason. It would deceive men, drawing them to their deaths(ciruel o43). It is even
popular today, in movies and books. In the book and the movie trilogies, Smaug has to be the most
famous. Smaug is an enormous fire drace, twice the size of a jumbo–jet. With a low, persuading
voice and personality, he holds an entire hour and a half of the second movie, with Bilbo and the
dwarves. There is a common folk tale called " The Dragon and The Gypsy." It suggests that fire
drakes could shape shift, too. It tells of a poor gypsy who tries to trick the dragon. The dragon takes
him to his lair to converse and eat with him. Showing off his fake feets of strength, the man fools
him into transforming into a man. Both ride horses back to the gypsy's home where he has six sons
to help him slay the dragon. He transforms back into the beast and flies off just in time to

Cornelia Funke's Dragon Rider
A work of fiction from my youth that established the best sense of place had to be Dragon Rider by
Cornelia Funke. The book was originally published in 1997 but was in German. The novel was
translated into English and published in 2004. I selected this book because I consider it to be the
first chapter book I read just for the sake of reading. The length of the book was intimidating at first,
but it allowed the author to describe many different places and tell a grand story. Although I enjoyed
the book, I never sought out more books by the same author. The author makes good use of imagery
to help readers get a sense of what these mystical characters look like and locations are in the real
world so you do not have to try very hard to visualize them. The book begins by describing a valley
outside of London where silver dragons live. The author uses imagery to paint a picture of a
sprawling land capable of holding a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inside they find a young orphan boy named Ben. The author describes Ben as a typical boy who has
been living in the warehouse for a considerable length of time. He cannot be older than twelve.
Firedrake tells Ben of his story and why they are in London. Ben offers a disguise so that Sorrel
may find the map maker. Begrudgingly, she accepts and sets off to find the map maker. Sorrel
arrives at the map maker's house. The map maker is a rat named Gilbert Graytail. His house is
described as having maps and other charts pinned to his walls and scattered about his floor. Sorrel
asks if he knows where to find The Rim of Heaven but he unfortunately does not know the exact
location. He instead gives her a map of the Himalayas where he thinks it is located and marks a few
trouble spots on the way. Sorrel returns to find that Firedrake and Ben have become friends while
she was away. She tells the two what she learned, and it is decided they should leave now while the
moon is still

Justifiable Inequality In How To Train Your Dragon
How to train your dragon is not a traditional children's movie. Hiccup may be the hero of the story,
but he is the very anthesis of a Viking; a bright but twiggy boy in a village plagued by dragons and
populated by muscle–bound barbarians who value brute strength and battle–prowess above all else.
In addition to being scrawny, Hiccup is very intelligent which has left him alienated from the
community, even by his father Stoic; chief of Berk. Hiccup may see himself as worthless, but he is
not by any means; in fact, his intellect is the sole voice of reason in the sea of bullheadedness that
surrounds him. He sees himself as such due to his clansmen's prejudice because he does not meet
their standard of masculinity. This specific type of discrimination is a concept called "justifiable
inequality" in Professor Douglas C. Baynton's article, "Disability and the Justification of Inequality
in American History," helps the audience see just how rich and complex the story of How to train
your dragon is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Applying justifiable inequality to the movie reveals that it is a staple of Viking culture. In addition,
an essay by Olivia Chung, "Finding my Eye–density," helps shed light on similar cultural
expectations found in Berk and how Hiccup works up the courage to reject his forced identity as a
traditional Viking and take confidence in standing up for who he is despite constant criticism and
scorn. How to train your dragon is not only a story about authentic manhood but is also about
Hiccup overcoming marginalization through

Personal Narrative : Dragon Quest
Dragon Quest Returning home late and tired, Nathan plops himself on his couch while thinking out
loud, "Phew, it has been a long day and I'm so glad I can finally relax and play some video games.
Oh yeah! Now which one should I play?" Nathan looked over and saw his favorite game, Dragon
Conquest 3 laying on the table. He reached over and popped the game into the console and as he did
so, heard a loud boom. It sounded like the boom of a cannon. Then, out of nowhere, there is a flash
of lightning which illuminated the room that was followed by a deafening crash of thunder. Startled
and thinking out loud, "Wow, that is one loud storm, I hope the power doesn't go out." Suddenly, he
hears the howling of the wind and the rustling of the leaves on the trees outside. As the lightening
flashed and the thunder roared, a bolt of lightning strikes his house and Nathan becomes temporarily
blind. After a half–hour, his sight returns, but he does not recognize where he is. "Uhh, where am
I?" It seems as if out of nowhere a deep voice replies, "You are in Yorkshire, the English province."
Scared and voice trembling, Nathan replies, "Oh, ok. Who are you?" "I am Sir Gordon of the
Knightly Realm. Who might you be?" "I am, I am," stuttered Nathan as he tries to remember his
name. "Nathan," he yelled with a look of confusion on his face. "What region are you from,
Nathan?" "I am from London. Where are you from Sir Gordon?" Nathan said in a low weak voice,
while still trying to understand what is happening to him. He takes a moment to look around and
sees a small village surrounded by woods and large plowed fields. There are cattle and sheep
grazing in the fields and clusters of small houses lined up in rows. To his left there is a large castle
on the top of a hill overlooking the village surrounded trees. The air is thick and clammy, and the
ground is wet, soggy, and cold. He looks up and closes his eyes, hoping that when he opens them, he
will be back home, but, no luck, he could still hear Sir Gordon talking to him. "I am from Yorkshire.
Sent by the Queen herself," said Sir Gordon looking straight pass Nathan with a perplexed look on
his face. Nathan turned around to see what he was looking at. If things could not get

Epic Of Beowulf Essay: An Analysis Of The Dragon
The dragon is one of the first characters who adheres to a philosophical idea and one of the first
characters who is not human, similar to Grendel. Grendel encounters the dragon after being treated
brutally by humans. Grendels first encounter with the Humans occurs when Grendel is caught in a
trap and hangs from a tree. The Humans surround Grendel and postulate that the thing in the tree
[Grendel] must be a spirit. However, when Grendel makes noise, a horse neighs and rears up. The
Humans take that for a sign and label Grendel as a monster. This labelling causes Grendel to attack
the Humans but is not a major factor. After being labelled as a monster and forced to run away,
Grendel, a youthful teenager in all sense encounters the dragon. The dragon is one of the first non
human character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grendel knew that the Shaper was making up stories to entertain the thanes at Heorot but after the
statement from the dragon Grendel understands it to be true. The shaper merely would talk about the
the past and the present while never knowing the future. The dragon mentions how susceptible the
humans are as "they [shapers] work with the same old atoms but spun together with a harp and
[humans] think what they think is alive"(65). This also has significant meaning on Grendel as he
realizes that the Shaper is a shaper. The Shaper shapes the stories for the taste of the thanes and not
for accurate historical recreations. This is the philosophy that Grendel was being taught by meeting
the dragon. The dragon furthermore mentions that everything alive, including Grendel, will reach
"Death, transfiguration. Ashes to ashes and slime to slime"(73). This statement alone can be used to
summarize the nihilist philosophy, nothing in the world matters as everything will be returned to
dust and individual atoms. Additionally, this sentence can be attributed to the reason behind
Grendels' continued

Myth Of Zachariah

  • 1. Myth Of Zachariah The Myth of Zachariah There once was a young man named Zachariah Kellerhoff. A rather skinny, small, and weak young man that has never been athletic or paid attention to. Always in the dark or in the corner with no friends and avoided by almost everyone, except for his mother. His mother cared for him in all ways. They lived together in a tribe full of great warriors. The tribe's name, The Comanche. Zachariah was obviously an outcast, but a skilled one. Every open time he had he was shooting his bow or throwing his javelin. He became very skilled at archery and javelin while everyone else worked with swords, horses, or slingshots. Zachariah had a big thing to look forward to, his mom's birthday! He always loved his mom's birthday, his mom's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 'Ahhh!!!!!", Zachariah screamed in agony. "You shouldn't have messed with me you scrawny boy!" Thou Shout stood over him, looked him in the eyes and took a deep breath and looked down, about to blast flames, and right as flames started to form in the back of Thou shouts mouth, Zachariah notched his bow, closed his eyes and said,"This is for you mom" And ... Then she looked around, oh, I must have fallen asleep in the stables... gross. Stormbreaker abruptly woke up with her stirring and stared at Calder distrustfully. Three days of 'quality time' and he's not getting better. "Sleeping in the stables now? What's next eating raw fish?" Calder joked. "Haha," She laughed dryly "... what time is it?" She yawned, stretching her arms overhead. "Almost noon." She gaped at him, "Ah! I missed class!" Korinta's going to be angry. Calder chuckled, "You'll be fine it was an obstacle course from what I heard, which we all know you two are good enough at." "Still... Korinta's going to chew me out." She sighed, leaning back ... The lightning along his spine fizzled out, maybe it was just an accident? This time, instead of walking around him, she walked at him, hoping he would move. He didn't. He stood fast in one spot, snarling. She snorted back at him and went to push his nose out of the way with her right hand. She saw the flash of blue too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Existence Of A Lie-Destructive Dragon In this world, in the presence of a lie–consuming dragon, lies take the form of monsters. The size of said monsters depend on the severity of the lie being told, and how badly the liar doesn't want to be found out. But this doesn't apply to all dragons, however. Dragons come into existence to fulfill the need or a strong wish of a human. A human who has seen all of their loved ones die and firmly wishes for solace will bring about an immortal dragon. A human who has been trapped all their life will bring about a dragon with powers of intangibility. It's not a hard concept to grasp, really. About a year and a half ago, as I was walking from town to town, I came across a dragon egg that later hatched into who I now know as Efina, a short, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Standing in the unusually silent and coffee shop, I examined the corpse laying in the middle of the tiled floor. "Hmm..." I must have been so lost in thought that I didn't notice when Susan Brande, the chief detective in the area, walked in the room. Susan walks past the both of us and stares intently at the body. Her partner, a younger girl by the name of Daira Reagan, happily follows, eyeing the body curiously as well. Susan's gaze on the body does not falter. "Brandon Miller, Age 24. Death by deliberate strangulation," the older woman said plainly. "The red eyes and dark marks on his neck show that much. And by the shape of the marks, he was most likely strangled with that pink tie that's hanging from his neck." She looked at me and her expression turns gentle. "Joshua Trotwood, right? It's nice to see you again." Chief Detective Susan Brande has been in the force for at least 10 years. She's highly envied for her great resilience, and her ability to be conspicuous when she wants to be. She is a child prodigy; the first case she solved was at the age of 14, and she's solved all the ones she was put in charge of after that. Her incredible talent has gotten her pretty famous around these parts. I met her once before when I was buying information, which explains how she knew my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. My Family Monologue I took a deep sigh as mom said I had to help clean out her closet. I started by the neon colored shirts and worked my way to the buttoned blouses. Mom decided it was time we take a break. So my mom and I went downstairs and each had a bowl of pretzels and a glass of orange juice, boy was I hungry! We went back upstairs and immediately got back to work. Mom couldn 't get inside the closet to the hard–to–reach places, but sadly I could. I plopped myself inside my mom 's dark and dusty closet. • 5. The Dragons Of Legend : The Epic Of Gilgamesh "The dragons of legend are strangely like actual creatures that have lived in the past. They are much like the great reptiles which inhabited the earth long before man is supposed to have appeared on earth. Dragons were generally evil and destructive. Every country had them in its mythology." (Knox, Wilson, "Dragon," The World Book Encyclopedia, 1973) Dragons are told in almost every culture known to man. Descriptions of the Dragon have been written, drawn, and told in culture that could have never met. From the North American Native tribes to the great civilization of China, Dragons have been told. Why is that? Through my research on this, I have concluded many theories, but all these theories still don't answer my question. In order to get the answer to my question, we will have to re–explore all my research. The first civilization to have recorded a dragon like creature is the ancient Assyria in form of a poem called "Epic of Gilgamesh". In this poem, Enkidu and Gilgamesh goes to slay a monster called Humbaba. Humbaba is describe to have scale–like skin, horns, a serpent tail, and was able to breath fire. This was around 2100 BC and this could have been the starting point of myths surrounding Dragons in the middle east. However, a little after this time, a great civilization had brewed up north of ancient Assyria. We known them as the Greeks, in which surrounded themselves in mythology, that their myths can still be told today. In fact, one of the Greeks most popular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Dragons In J. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit What does the word "dragon" mean to us? Generally, if one is asked this question, the response would be "unintelligent dangerous weapons of destruction". However, this is not the case in J.R.R Tolkien's "The Hobbit", nor is it true for the early mythology of dragons. Instead, this modern definition is replaced with one of, "greedy, intelligent beings with human characteristics". Hence, a question arises as to why the image of dragons has been drastically downgraded throughout literature? To answer this question, I will first begin by isolating passages from Tolkien's "The Hobbit" in an attempt to describe certain features of Smaug the magnificent. Afterwards, I will partake in exemplifying the written style of dragons in the history of literature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Traditional dragons were portrayed when the certain writers have been able to preserve the wonder of the creatures. Whereas, modern dragons are illustrated when select stories have implemented new components that have served as counter–productive as depicted by the Harry Potter series which relegates the true plot potential of these beasts. Additionally, these modern dragons tend to be obstacles for the main hero to overcome, which is a stark contrast from the traditional dragons. Therefore, for what reason have writers decided to downgrade the beasts? Unerman (2002) puts forth the belief that "fictional evil is more convincing and more frightening when people, not dragons, are the true enemy" (pg. 100). In addition, another argument could be made in that dragons such as Smaug will overshadow the main human villain, therefore, by downgrading the beasts to simple plot obstacles, it allows for the dragons not to overshadow the main villain, and I cannot accept either argument. Suggesting that "humanity" allows for more engaging villains is absurd, considering that the simple task of personifying a dragon in Smaug made for one of the greatest, psychologically complicated, and utmost captivating villain in all of literature. Nonetheless, one may argue that Tolkien's Smaug serves as the same purpose as a dragon in the Harry Potter series; a plot obstacle that cause destruction. Granted that this notion may appear plausible, it proves false in terms of characteristics of the dragons individually. In other words, the dragon in Harry Potter happens to be illustrated as regular animal that features no unique qualities, whereas Smaug is categorized as a complex and unique character, in terms of his motives, intelligence, and the threat he poses to those who dare challenge ... • 19. How To Train Your Dragon Analysis 'How To Train Your Dragon', a 2010 film directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, uses the film codes to enhance the audience's understanding of the film. 'How To Train Your Dragon' tells the tale of a hapless young Viking named Hiccup, who befriends a dragon named Toothless. Together, they teach the island of Berk about acceptance and overcoming differences. While producing the directors used the film codes to add interest and understanding to the film, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the film. The character code allows to better understand the personality of and have a deeper connection with the characters. Representational code benefits the audience by letting them decipher what the character represents. Meanwhile, the technical code uses film–making equipment to give more information about the characters, scenes and the film in its entirety. The character code enables the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the characters. The character code enables the audience to better understand the characters by offering insight into the personalities of the characters. The character code requires the audience to analyse the character's speech to better understand the character's personality, actions and behaviour. This is done through the examination of the accent, tone, pitch, pace and volume of the character/s speaking. This is evident in the Hiccup Initiation Ceremony Confession Scene in which Hiccup spits out, "I'm not one of them.". He states this loudly, in a low pitch, slowly spitting out the words in a chilling manner with a cold and harsh tone. Therefore, the audience interprets this as Hiccup displaying himself as being different to the other Vikings in the manner of behaving in an amiable fashion towards dragons. The audience subsequently comes to the conclusion that Hiccup has a compassionate, understanding and altruistic personality, denoting his willingness to overcome bias and promote difference. The character code is also apparent in the Opening Scene where Stoick harshly declares, "What are you doing out? Get inside!". Stoick speedily demanded this thunderingly, in a low pitch with an accusing and demanding tone. As a result of this, the audience understands Stoick to be tough, powerful ... At least, he vaguely remembered doing that when he woke up with his scaly dragon face flat on the floor. It was stupid, but it was worth a try. His wyvern form was even tougher than his normal bullet–proof skin and inherent dragon healing powers. He'd tried slashing his wrists, but his fae runes just scurried to heal them. He could keep re–cutting, but when he passed out from the blood loss, the wounds would heal, and he'd wake up still very much alive. Repeated attempts just kept him out longer while his blood regenerated. It was fucking hard to kill a dragon. At least he'd made it to his tomb before he lost his mind entirely, which meant Rosalyn was safe from his wyvern's savage need to take her by force, seal her with his dragonfire, and then rape her until he impregnated her with his child. A shudder ran through him with that horrifying thought. He'd flown away from the keep as fast as he could, then he'd thrown up the protection runes around his tomb that would forever lock his beast inside. • 22. Theme Of Greed In The Hobbit Greed is a common, yet detrimental factor in society today. All around the world people experience this type of attribute, whether it is for power or for the simple concept of desiring more in life. In order to further this prevalent theme, Peter Jackson created the film The Hobbit–Desolation of Smaug, in 2013. In this film, he continued the adventure of Bilbo Baggins and the dwarves and set them off to reclaim their ancient dwarven city guarded by the dragon, Smaug. Throughout the entire movie, the characters face many tough obstacles, those being orcs, elves and most importantly the evil dragon. Those elves actually came to their rescue later on in the movie, proving their loyalty. Those noble elves were Tauriel and Legolas. Also, a major character in the movie was Gandalf, which was the powerful wizard. In the movie, he aided in their adventure by leading them to the proper trail while also providing them with many struggles they may encounter on the way. While all of the characters and setting play a key role in shaping the movie as a whole, the theme of greed is a much greater aspect throughout the film. Peter Jackson implements personification, symbolism, and foreshadowing in his movie in order to point his audience towards the bigger message, greed is the root of all evil. To provide his message with further reasoning, Jackson employed the rhetorical device of personification. This device is prevalent throughout the entire movie as he gives human characteristics to animals and also different species. By doing so he not only added another rhetorical device to his film but he most importantly, furthered his theme by showing how it is thought about by different characters in the movie, along with their own perspectives on the matter. For example, in the movie the dragon is a prime representation of greed. During one scene in the movie you see this characteristic come into play when all that is surrounding the dragon is gold and many treasures, far more than you could ever imagine. The dragon simply kills for treasure, collects treasure, and does nothing but lie upon it and prove his worth to those surrounding him. This technique showed the audience how characters and creatures in a certain film exhibit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
