Potholes cause significant damage to vehicles in South Africa, costing owners money for repairs. They are widespread across roads, making them difficult for municipalities to identify and fix quickly. An app that allows users to report pothole locations would help governments prioritize repairs, and help drivers avoid roads with potholes or drive carefully where they exist, saving on vehicle damage costs.

3. • Potholes can cause a lot of damage to vehicles, as seen in
Image 1, this is extremely frustrating for vehicle owners as
they have to now pay money to get the damages to their
vehicle repaired while the causes for the damage is out of
their hands.
• Potholes are found everywhere in our country and it generally
takes quite a while for the municipality to fix these potholes.
The government is also not fully aware of every pothole that
are on our roads so it is difficult for them to spot every one
of them to fix.
• Potholes are a danger to users of the roads and no one wants
to incur extra expenses from something that is not their fault

4. Why will our app be
successful?
• It helps the government/municipality to easily identify and
locate potholes all over the country making it easier for the
government to have these potholes fixed as there is a logical
ordering system on identifying and locating the potholes
• It helps the users of the road to identify and locate potholes
that could damage their car and therefore the users can
decide on a different route with no/less potholes or decide to
drive more cautiously as they are aware of the potholes
