Paving the way for the future… …one boy and girl at a time. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
The Mission Men and Women of Action seeks to develop and cultivate the academic, social, spiritual, and ethical principles of young men and women so that they are equipped to fulfill their God-given purpose in life.
The History Started in 2005, God gave Arthur Hawkins a vision to reach out to troubled young men at Salem High School. Modeling after the Big Boys and Big Girls Club of Clarksville, TN which Mr. Hawkins founded before coming to Georgia, he had a plan to reach out to the young men at Salem to teach them about God and to reach out to the community. In 2007, this organization opened itself to young women.
The Objective The MWOA objective is to develop character in young men and women by having them provide assistance to the elderly, impoverished, and mentor to other youth in their communities.
The Goal Through weekly devotionals and monthly FUSE meetings, MWOA seeks to start and build a relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ in our young people. Without this foundation, nothing worthwhile can succeed.
The Goal Through monthly community service outreaches (i.e. homeless shelters and assisted living facilities) and mentoring, we teach young men and women to serve others and give back.
Weekly Devotionals These weekly devotionals are led by student leaders who have a desire to walk with God and to share the Bible and its teachings with their peers.
FUSE Meetings These once a month meetings are designed to teach the youth how to start and continue their walk with God and to teach manners/etiquette and moral responsibility. These meetings have Christian speakers from various churches and the community.
Community Service These outreaches serve the community by teaching the youth what it means to give of themselves. These projects are typically feeding and ministering to the homeless and the elderly.
Mentoring These outreaches also serve the community. These projects are typically mentoring and tutoring young people in the academic areas. This can be done in middle schools and grade schools.
The Structure
The Structure The structure is based on growth by multiplication. Each student leader and huddle leader is responsible to mentor and lead a small group and helping them to grow their team closer in their walk with God and building their relationships with one another, following the model of Jesus and His disciples. We team young men with young men and young women with young women. This is excellent training to use throughout their lives, teaching them leadership and role modeling.
The Support Through local businesses, local churches, and personal gifts, donations are received to purchase brochures, Bibles, gospel tracts, devotional and discipleship material, MWOA t-shirts, and other materials to grow the organization and to build up and strengthen its members. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit ministry.
Responsibilities of Student Leaders and Huddle Leaders To be at every meeting possible and to serve the students. To provide Godly role models for their peers to emulate. To teach the Bible to their peers in weekly devotionals. To remind and stay in contact with their peers on events and outreach opportunities.
Responsibilities of Adult Mentors and Parent Liaisons To be at every meeting possible and to serve the students. To provide Godly role models for the students to emulate. To share Biblical counsel when necessary to the students and be available to assist MWOA. To help with yearly banquet and chaperone at outreach functions and events. To keep student leaders and huddle leaders responsible for their roles.
