1. Reverend Wayne Edwards is founder and leader of Why Not Now Ministries
which equips, empowers and encourages individuals to begin and grow in their
relationship with God for purposeful living.
Wayne has served in various areas of ministry for over 25 years at the Church of
God of East Flatbush, including deacon, trustee, and Director of Christian
Education. He has been a pioneer of Youth Ministries serving as youth pastor
and initiated various outreach ministries aimed at addressing the needs of youth
and young adults within the church and community. He was instrumental in
organizing and directing a sports ministry for young men, Men's Assembly, an
open forum for young men and S.A.L.T., a weekly youth bible studies program.
He continues to pursue his passion for the holistic development of young men
through a mentorship initiative, Boys to Men. With a Kingdom agenda and
mindset, Wayne has never been afraid to “do ministry differently.” The
ministry’s current structure includes a free basketball program for boys on
Sundays that leads into worship; weekly prayer and BibleTalk sessions via
teleconference.
Wayne holds a Bachelor's of Arts in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Math
Education. For more than 18 years, he has served as a middle & high school
math teacher and Director of Mathematics in Nassau County. His passion for
education led to the birth of Back-to-School Empowerment Conference, an
annual education-based weekend rally that motivates students towards
achieving academic excellence, and equipping parents and guardians with the
tools necessary for ensuring student success. This desire to teach and learn
continues and has evolved into the forming of Deeway Educational Services, Inc.,
an educational consulting company. He is happily married to his partner in
ministry, Deon; and the Lord has blessed them with three children – Asher,
Whitney, and Melodie.
Wayne is deeply committed to leading this generation to an understanding of
God’s Kingdom principles. He does not waver from the belief that when
individuals become armed with the truth of God’s word and the power of the
Holy Spirit, they will truly become agents of change positioned to turn the world
upside down!
