1. Degna Horton Biography
Degna Horton is passionate about unity, collaborative relationships, connecting and
networking leaders globally, and helping people of all ages discover their gifts and achieve
their goals as they pursue the fulfillment of their life purpose. Everything she does, she does
with intentionality, compassion, and vision for the future.
Degna is a gifted teacher, counselor, school administrator, seminar presenter, conference
speaker, writer, and leader. For the past 19 years she has served in Christian education,
including her service as a Commissioner on the Southern California ACSI/WASC
Accreditation Commission, and has a wealth of experience in corporate management, non-
profit development and leadership, communications, events, marketing and public relations.
She currently serves on staff at Lighthouse Church, Newbury Park, CA as the Director of
the Lighthouse Interns School of Ministry (a program for emerging leaders) and as the
Director of Advance (adult education and discipleship).
Though she loves serving the local church, Degna is committed to serving para-church
ministries in leadership roles. She currently serves as Corporate Secretary on the board of
directors for Kim Maas Ministries, Inc. and as Vice President/Secretary for Buyamba
Uganda, Inc., a ministry that offers love, care, and support, through education, for the
orphaned and destitute children of Uganda. No doubt, a huge part of her heart remains in
Uganda. She is committed to international missions and global transformation.
Degna holds a B.A. in the Behavioral Sciences, with a minor in Adaptive Physical
Education, from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, as well as certifications in
College Admissions Counseling, Education Administration, and Customer Service
Management. She is currently enrolled in a M.A/PhD program in Biblical Counseling at
Trinity Theological Seminary, IN. She and her husband have been married for 25 years and
they have two grown daughters.
