CSH Compact Screw Compressors for HFO
CSH/CSW Series
HFO ReadyCSH95113-320Y
Extensive qualification program completed
Released for HFO’s and HFO/HFC blends
HFO’s implementation in BITZER software
35 different models (HFO – READY)
Displacement: 137m³/h -1120m³/h @50Hz
CSH series optimized for high SDT
CSW series optimized for low SDT
Infinite or 4-Step capacity control: 25%-100%
Highest energy efficiency in its class
Lowest sound levels in its class

Performance level of compact screw compressors
with R1234yf and R1234ze(E)
/ R1234yf for medium-temperature refrigeration and air-conditioning
/ R1234ze(E) for medium-temperature refrigeration, air-conditioning and
high-temperature heat pumps

Performance level of compact screw compressors
with R1234yf and R1234ze(E)
R1234yf
Cooling capacity and efficiency (full and part load) very similar to R134a
R1234ze(E)
Efficiency very similar to R134a
Cooling capacity about 25% less than with R134a
R1234yf slightly better in case of low condensing temperature
R1234ze(E) slightly better in case of high condensing temperature
Both refrigerants match very well with screw compressors!

Lubricant choice
CHEMICAL STABILITY OF REFRIGERANT AND OIL
/ No long-term experience with HFO refrigerants
/ Water content increases oil acidity (POE). To be done as good
engineering practice.

SAFE SYSTEMS WITH HFO REFRIGERANTS
/ Differences between R1234yf and R1234ze(E)
Higher requirements for transport and storage for R1234yf
according to safety data sheet
R1234yf is flammable and special requirements apply (e.g.
special driving license), while R1234ze(E) is non-flammable
Higher requirements for design and production of pipework and
heat exchangers for R1234yf in the PED 2014/68/EU
R1234yf is classified in fluid group 1 (dangerous substances),
while R1234ze(E) is in fluid group 2 (all other substances)

SAFE SYSTEMS WITH HFO REFRIGERANTS
/ For all refrigeration systems, R1234ze(E) is flammable
(R1234yf is also flammable)
Industrial standards (e.g. prEN 378-1:2013) are applied
Test temperature of the flammability test (60°C) is higher than
the one considered for the safety data sheet (20°C) and
PED 2014/68/EU
/ It is highly recommended to do an individual risk assessment of
the system with help of certified bodies and experts
