2. Daintree Rainforest
Daintree rainforest is the largest rainforest in Australia. It
was named after Richard Daintree. The Daintree covers
over 3000 square kilometers. That’s nearly the size of
Adelade! It is packed with vegetation. People call this place
the lungs of the earth. These lungs are being destructed by
the same token. We are losing this rainforest rapidly, and
we need to make an action.
3. Threats
There are two major threats that humankind are causing to
the forest. There are trees cut every day in the Daintree
rainforest. When this happens, habitats of other creatures
that live within the forest are getting effected. One of the
animals that are suffering the most would be the
cassowary. Daintree contains a major population of these
spectacular animals. There is also a constancy of building
roads straight through the forest. This causes more animals
hit by cars.
4. Why is This Happening?
This total destruction is happening because nobody stops
for a minute to think what will happen to the forest later in
the line. This could potentially cause other generations not
seeing a tree or the animals that use it as a habitat.
5. How can we solve this?
Paper is a major cause of trees needing to be cut down. We
can not stop it completely stop it, but use double-sided
paper. If everybody did this, that would be half the trees
cut down. We can also simply stop making roads in the
middle of a forest. It’s not a tourist attraction.
