3. Vampire Weekend- A-
Punk
• An Indie Rock song- Alternative
• Disjuncture focus as the lyrics are random
• A humorous approach incorporated from a random theme
to match the music
• Narrative and performance
4. Performance
• Very exaggerated body language and over the top acting
• For instance- excessive force on drum beats, headbanging
• Humour derived from spontaneity and randomness, for
example odd Clothing, instruments and mannerisms
5. Intro- performance
• 15- 30 seconds
• Initial establishing shot
• Pan as the artists walk in
• One enters on a bike and jumps off
6. Narrative
• 2 people stealing something unimportant and in-
expensive, for instance a chocolate bar or sweet
• This then triggers them running away (Humour from an
overreaction to this)
• Police on scene (more exaggeration of catching them)
• The two thieves panic and this prompts them running
over town
• Comedic effect on simple parkour e.g.. Jumping off a
bench while escaping and jumping from low heights etc.
7. Performance- Narrative
amalgamation
• During the narrative, the actors run past shots of the
performers making a cameo appearance; busking through
the streets
• Run past off camera, but walk back casually into shot
(Comedy from panic of escaping, but instantly forget this
when they notice the performer) and then run off again,
being chased by the policeman
8. Narrative ending/ song
outro
• Midway in the chase scene one of the actors falls down-
prompting a vey over the top reaction. When he falls down this
pauses the song playing and we can hear them talking/ crying
• After realising the policeman is nowhere near they simply run
off again
• Then when the song ends, they escape from the policeman
however to their dismay realise the chocolate/ sweet was
broken in the actors fall- annoyed reaction- the actors are more
down to Earth/ not idiots and it creates a contrast to the rest of
the narrative
• Camera upwards tilt matched with a fade to dark/ black
9. Special effects
• Use of pace, for instance speeding the shot up and
slowing/ slow mo during the chase scenes
• Stop- motion in the performance to enhance the
exaggeration of body language/ movements (Editing
would be in time with the beat of the song) and stop-
motion to speed up the narrative intro (The stealing
scene)
10. Location
• Multiple urban settings throughout
• Narrative- Taking place throughout a village/ town
setting. Would just be 1 town/ village as they are running
through it (But would incorporate different settings of this
e.g. Parks, shops, footpaths, back alleys)
• Performance starts in a dark subway underground- very
random matching the song
11. Logo
• Shown at start of the video, fades out to the performance
