3. PLASMA THERAPY TO CURE COVID 19
Convalescent plasma (CP) therapy, a classic adaptive immunotherapy, has
been applied to the prevention and treatment of many infectious
diseases for more than one century. Over the past two decades, CP
therapy was successfully used in the treatment of SARS, MERS, and
2009 H1N1 pandemic with satisfactory efficacy and safety.
Dr. Shiv Kumar Sarin & Dr. Minu bajpai (AIIMS, DELHI) is trying to
implement it in Delhi hospital. Four patients teste already.
Important Note:
If you think you have been exposed to novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and have developed any
symptoms (cough, fever or difficulty breathing), call the Govt. of India helpline 1075 or
the state helpline numbers for assistance.

6. RESEARCH GAP
It is not yet clear whether this mutation is common in Group 4 viral
isolates from different geographical regions.
whether this mutation enhances host cell entry.
Viral isolation from field samples is rarely successful.
Reverse genetics recovery of recombinant virus is labour intensive and
expensive.
Development diagnostic-test kits
Development of potential drugs.

7. COMMON THINGS TO KNOW
People may be sick with the virus for 1 to 14 days before developing symptoms. The
most common symptoms of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) are fever, tiredness, and
dry cough.
Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment.
More rarely, the disease can be serious and even fatal. Older people, and people with
other medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease), may be more
vulnerable to becoming severely ill.
People may experience:
cough
fever
tiredness
difficulty breathing (severe cases)
