The document describes the problems faced by the staff of a student publication called Infocus Publication in managing articles and files. It proposes developing a web-based information and management system to address these problems. Specifically, the proposed system would [1] sort files from published to unpublished articles, [2] provide staff accounts and security, and [3] allow for easy posting of issues online. It would allow adding new staff records, composing and sending articles between staff, and categorizing articles. The system would store, search, edit and mark articles as published or unpublished. However, it would not manage other departments' publications or financial information.
