Persuasive Speech On Vaccines
In this speech, I will explore how vaccines relate to increased health issues, how the vaccination industry has failed to ensure vaccine safety protocols,
and what we can do to create a safer and healthier environment in the future for all of us. Ultimately, the goal is to open a space in which people can
decide to accept the message shared, which is that vaccination could be a serious issue that truly exists, affects us directly, and needs to be resolved.
First, I introduce the problem by providing factual information that supports the proposition that vaccines could be the reason for serious health issues.
The first example from Dr. William Torch gives official study results which show that two
–thirds of the babies who received the DPT vaccine died
shortly after from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (Miller). The second example of the pilot study report in the Journal of Translational Science
comparing unvaccinated and fully–vaccinated children shows how vaccines negatively influenced the health of the vaccinated children (Bigtree
13–14). For the third example, Dr. Harris Coulter explains that the military accepts only diabetes–free people. Since many US Navy individuals contract
Diabetes I after enlistment, the numerous vaccines these individuals are required to take during their service are considered responsible for the
autoimmune disease (Coulter). The last example reveals that, according to a study conducted by Harvard Medical School, the Vaccine Adverse Events

Rhetorical Analysis Of Speech By Dr. Martin Luther King
The date and time for the speech was 28 August 1963. The speaker was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The audience were a massive group of civil rights
marchers approximately two hundred fifty thousand. The topic the speaker addressed was for an end to racism in the United States, and economic and
civil rights. I had minimum knowledge that it would be about addressing the end to discrimination of the negroes. Yes,the speaker was introduced as a
great man of this nation. The speaker had a couple qualifications for speaking on this subject since he had a dream, and was a negro wanting an end
to racist behavior. My initial impression of the speaker was a brave man to stand in front of thousands of people, and mention a matter that was serious.
I personally would rate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another type of supporting material used would be narration as stated, "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true
meaning of its creed". Yes, the support is relevant and adequate. Yes, the speaker made good use of transitions briefly pausing after each statement;
speaking in an understandable fashion. Yes, I found the appeals that were made compelling, a few examples from the speech, "ThankGod Almighty, we
are free at last!", I have a dream that one day... crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all the flesh shall
see it together." and "From every mountainside, let freedom ring". Yes, there was an adequate summary since the speaker used a call to action,
"and when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet...will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old
Negro spiritual." The type of closing device would be the song, Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are all free at

Drinking Coke vs Drinking Warter
J Calhoun June 21, 2012 COM 123 Persuasive Speech Drink Less Coke, More Water. Purpose: To persuade the audience to drink less coke and
more water. Thesis: Drinking coke and other sodas are harmful to the body. Drinking less soda (especially coke) and more water will help you to
become an overall healthier person with less health problems in the long run. Organizational Pattern: Monroe's Motivated Sequence
IntroductionAttention Getting Device: What would it take to clean off an old, rusted coin? Many of you might believe any simple cleaning product
would get the job done but, this is not so. The answer I'm looking for is coke. That's right, coke. Coke is so strong that it can remove dirt, rust and

a.To achieve overall better health you will need to limit your soda consumption. It is necessary. b.There are three steps you will need to make in
order to rid your body of hazardous chemicals and health issues caused by soda. I.First, you will need to identify that you have a soda consumption
problem. If you only drink a few cups of soda a week you won't actually need to rid your body of soda. A good way to determine if you need to make
changes is if your urine is on a normal basis darker than the color of lemonade. If it is leaning towards a medium yellow and gold color you need to
drink more water. II.Second, after you have identified that you have a problem or need to drink less you will need to pick one of the two methods
I previously stated. Either the day by day method or the cold turkey method. III.Third, after you have chosen a method you can now begin your
process of drinking less coke and drinking more water. Try your best to keep a record of how many glasses of soda and water you are drinking each
day. Transition– Once you have done the necessary actions, there are a few results you should expect to see. III. Main Point#3 – Finally, after about a
few days or a week take a look at your progress and determine if that method really worked for you or if you need to alter things. A.After you have
taken the proper steps necessary you should be drinking more

Speech: Monroe's Motivated Sequence
After preparing for this speech, I believe that it was a speech that was developed. The speech was very appropriate for the audience and occasion.
This speech was appropriate because I discussed the reasons why higher education should receive higher funds for school. I created a clear specific
purpose that I could accomplish in the allotted time. I believe I did a great job with the timing because the time required was six to seven minutes and
I finished in six minutes and nineteen seconds. I believe the speech was well organized because I have used Monroe's Motivated Sequence. This
sequence showed me how to organize my speech into a sequential order. I have fulfilled the major functions of the speech introduction. I have tried my
best to create a great opening to get the audience's attention. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I searched many different programs that would help higher education students receiving more funding. My ideas were well supported and
explained. I even used great citations to summarized what I was pertaining to. While speaking on a question of policy, I have demonstrated a need
to change the current policy. Reason being is because there are many necessities that are required of students. I have presented a clear plan and
gave many suggestions to solve the need. I provided these suggestions in the "take action" paragraph. I have proved the practicality of my plan.
While doing so, I have used the criteria in my textbook for the effective use of supporting the materials. I have made an outline that was very similar
to the example in the book. I have identified the target audience for my speech. The target audience were students who were suffering from the state
not providing enough funds to cover their expenses for school. I used significant evidence to answer the potential objections of my target audience. I
have presented my ideas in a clear, vivid, accurate, and appropriate language towards my

Informative Speech
When I was preparing for this speech, I knew I wanted to do this with a partner. Emily Struewing was the perfect partner to work with. Our goal was
to pick a topic that appealed to our audience and how it would benefit our audience. Emily and I thought about issues we faced as college students and
we came up with limited closet space. We did research and a survey and found out that multiple other students felt the same way. (Q.1.) The specific
purpose of our speech was by the end of this speech, the audience will agree that the TechnoCloset would be a great investment for college students. I
think Emily and I did well teaching the audience about our new innovation of the TechnoCloset because we gained attention, stated the needs, stated the
satisfaction, and how it will benefit your future. (Q.2.) Working with a partner made the speech–making process much easier. In the demonstration and
the informative speech, I struggled with creating an outline and writing the speech. Working with a partner made creating an outline easier. We sat
down together Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and wrote the whole entire speech together and completed the outline. It felt like the speech
making process was not as stressful and I felt more confident about the process because I had someone else helping me and brainstorming ideas.
Another example of how the speech making process was easier was because we created the speech on google documents. This allowed both of us
to look at what we had and edit the speech. We would alternate with one telling what to type and the other one typing what the partner was saying.
We used the same document to practice our speech together too. We could continue to edit when we were practicing which allowed us to create an
amazing speech. (Q.3.) During my presentation, I supported Emily while she was presenting. To show my support when she was talking, I would nod
my head in agreement with what she said. An example would be when she said, "Now you have to wash your favorite sweatshirt and take the time
and energy to fold it and out it away again for the possibility of the same cycle occurring again." When Emily stated this, I was nodding my head in
agreement. Another example

Most Significant Learning Moment Analysis
My Most Significant Learning Moment(s) in Professor Walsh's Class I have to begin starting off saying when I made my schedule for the semester and
realized I had to take English 222 Effective Speech course I was very hesitant, public speaking was not something I wasn't too keen on doing I will
admit. My degree calls for this course so I course my professor and off I went very skeptical that I would do well, get much from this class or even
enjoy any of it. Boy was I wrong, not only did I enjoy every aspect of the class, I learned quite about public speaking, persuasive speech, Monroe's
Motivated Sequence, the communication model and how we use it, the importance of listening, working in a group as well as group thinking, how
conflict is not always verbal. People tend to use passive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We also had several group participation projects during this course, which I enjoyed very much, this is something very new to me and something that I
had not done since high school. I honestly feel something that more professors should engage in along with group participation. The projects were
great because they represented what we were learning and gave us a better understanding of how we were using not only writing skills but body
language, creative skills, interpersonal skills, logic, behavioral skills, communication, mindfulness, listening, conflict, as well as presentational
skills. As for myself, I do believe I could add more enhancement to my future group participation if I learn powerpoint, I have learned that this is a
big presentation piece to displaying visuals, along with possibly being a bit more verbal with my opinions but not demanding just so I am heard.
This is something that remains very true to my personal, family, and friends as well when speaking for myself. I think because of English 222

Identifying Perils Of Indifference 'And The Children's Era'
Identifying Persuasive and informative Speeches
For this week's assignment, I decided to analyze "The Perils of Indifference" by Elie Wiesel, and "The Children's Era" by Margaret Sanger.
In 1999, Wiesel delivers an informative speech at the White House. In the beginning of Wiesel's speech he mentions his gratitude to the American
people, as well as the president's wife for their actions, and concerns for (humanity) people in distress. Meanwhile, the speaker elaborates on the
history of bloodshed and indifference, and its effect over the years in society. During this point of the outline, a chronological pattern is revealed. As
the speaker describes indifference, he increases the audience understanding of a familiar topic. Nevertheless, depending on the audience, or era, the
information within the message may be new to some people. The speaker explains the advantages and disadvantages of indifference; "my friends, good
things have also happened in this traumatic century: the defeat of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"There is only one way out. We have to fight for the health of and happiness of the unborn child. As a speaker, Sanger's persuasive pattern includes,
describing the problem, offering a solution, as well as, Monroe's motivated techniques. Although, Monroe's motivated sequence was developed after
Sanger's speech "The Children's Era", she utilized the strategy during the speech, by including this passage "Just try for a moment to picture the
possibilities of such and examination". Within the body Sanger's ask the audience to consider how they make inquiries about a maid, or a cook. After,
the speaker asked the audience to image an unborn child to interviewing the parent, to see if they have good qualifications to be a parent. This passage
is where the speaker creates the need of an unborn

Animals are being mistreated by people not giving the right amount of food, water or housing, which is causing the animals to dehydrate or starve.
Animals are also being mistreated by humans committing violence toward them. Some people leave their animals outside all winter long without

a persuasive speech they cannot be answered accurately. For example: Who will win the the Super Bowl? One cannot give a clear response to this
question that is being deliberately asked. The questions of value are worth, rightness and morality. The aim of an informative speech is to give
information as impartially as possible, not to argue a particular point of view. An example is to persuade my audience that William Shakespeare did
not write the plays attributed to him. The questions of policy are whether a specific course of action should be taken. In a persuasive speech, one

Persuasive Speeches
There are three types of persuasive speeches. There are speeches of Value, Fact, and Policy. The first one speeches of Value are when speaker tries
to convince listeners that their personal value judgment is true through the way they use their words or tone. In speeches of value, we argue about
whether something is right or wrong and moral or immoral. Just like you would do with questions of fact, you can create your main points by asking
a strategic question in your thesis of "Why is this good?" or "Why is this moral?" The answers to this question will give you the speech's main points.

For example, in a "Euthanization is inhumane" speech, you might make your first main point to define when an it can be considered inhumane or what
makes it inhumane. In most cases though it would be made clear what you mean by inhumane or moral or good. But in cases where it isn't you can
include what you mean by it, or saying inhumane, in your introduction or in your first main point. You will want to take in consideration what type of
audience you're speaking to. Whether it be a animal rights group, PETA, people who don't even know what euthanization means, approach this subject
with some sensitivity. You as the speaker are not asking the audience to do anything about it but just to believe that it's not a humane thing to do. The
next type of persuasive speech is the speech of fact. With any of these speeches you will need a thesis. Begin with a thesis that states that something
can be proven, that it happened or didn't happen. Usually the material used in the speech should be and will be presented with an organization of
topical order. It's very important to consider the evidence being presented cautiously. Ask if it is even possible that the observations actually happened or

The Black Lives Matter Movement
The titles of both songs are different, as is their composition. The 2003 version of the song has the title Where is the love, whereas the 2016 version is
titled #WheresTheLove. The use of the hashtag in the title symbolizes the digital mindset that people in 2016 currently live in. The internet had not yet
taken off in 2003 and there wasn't an obsession with social media at this point. In 2016 everything is focused around the concept of instant information.
When something significant happens in the U.S., the majority of people have that information in hand instantly through their handheld technologies.
The increased use of technology has sparked a surge of social movement. This can be seen through multiple campaigns, one example would be the
Black Lives Matter movement. The Black Lives Matter movement first began following the death of Trayvon Martin and the acquittal of the officer
who shot him. This movement began with a simple hashtag. Now in 2003 the hashtag was better known as a pound sign whereas in 2016 it is a
classic trademark of social media platforms. The hashtag allows one's beliefs to be categorized into a short statement. Supporters of the statement will
then begin using the hashtag, thus causing a snowball effect. As the hashtag #blacklivesmatter began to swarm platforms such as Facebook, Twitter
and Instagram, awareness grew of the movement. "Social media has allowed its members to share documentary evidence of police abuse, spread
activist messages, and

Monroe's Motivated Sequence Analysis
Based on the information that I have gathered I can say Monroe's Motivated Sequence is for the speaker to be more organized and to convince his/her
audience to take action. There are five steps the speaker needs to have in his/her speech. This system is developed for persuasive speeches. The sole
purpose of this system is to inform the audience what they can do. Not just giving information but involving the audience, getting in touch with their
emotions and to let them know their choice of action can make a difference. Furthermore, in Monroe's Motivated Sequenced I had said there is five
steps to it. The five steps include attention, satisfaction, visualization, and action. Attention is used by explaining a dramatic statistic related to your

The Speech-Making Process In Monroe's Motivated Sequence
The group speech was a learning experience, but also turned out to be one of my favorite speeches I have done so far. Alan and I's specific
purpose was, for by the end of our speech, our audience would know the need of NeverWet, how this product can help them, its functions, and where
they can purchase this item. I think Alan and I did a nice job at making sure the specific purpose was achieved. We made sure that the steps in
Monroe's Motivated Sequence came across clearly. This helped us accomplish the goal of making sure the audience comprehended our specific
purpose. (Q1) Alan really helped make the working in a group make the speech–making process go extremely smoothly. We both had goals and stuck to

Professor Workm Speech Analysis
Coming into this semester, I was scared that I was taking a speech class. The thought of speaking in front of a group of people did not fit well with
me. I knew in order to earn the grade I wanted, I had to do speeches. I did not know the class would only be about 25 kids, so that made it easier.
Professor Workman did her best to make sure we weren't nervous or had any anxiety before our speeches which helped a lot. Throughout the semester
we had to do a total of 2 speeches. One speech was an informative speech and the other was persuasive. The first speech was the informative speech.
I believe this speech was a bit easier due to the fact we had a PowerPoint to somewhat help us. I believed I developed my points and supported each

greatest improvement overall is that I am now confident in my public speaking abilities and yes there will always be a little nervousness but no
anxiety. I have become a more confident speaker compared to what I was before I took this class. Although the progress is not huge, it is progress
and I am very satisfied with the progress I have made throughout this semester. I cannot wait to use the skills I have learned throughout this course in

My Speech With The Step Of Monroe's Motivated Sequence
Well, the speech was really fun to prepare for it, even though the grade is not what I expected. It pretty awesome too when giving the speech because I
can see the audiences inner desire. And their laugh and some smile, it shows it all. I got their attention when I first open up the slide because that was
the moment when our generation mostly looking for. And that was love, but that not what they expected. I was laughing inside because of that. While
giving the speech, I notice I made too many mistakes and know what my weakness, strength is. I can see my strength in organizing my speech with the
step of Monroe's Motivated Sequence because of that my speech went a lot smoother. In addition to that, I was able to get my points across the audience
. The thesis of my topic was easily understood by the audience because my earlier slide about finding love caught their attention. That was brilliant, but
I can see that my transition is not smooth on every slide. And that is my weakness I have to work on. It's still not as bad as my communication

actually understand. As well as my posture, even though my intention is purposeful. Sometimes it seems out of reflex for no reason and I got to
work on that. So I set a goal to speak more and more. I also vow to read more to help me with my vocab and speaking skill. With this, I can say that I'm
still learning. I still got a long way to go for me to be able to deliver my speech in public formally and

Martin Luther King's I Have a Dream Speech
Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born into a society that treated him inferior to white people just
because he was African–American. As a bright young boy in a diminishing culture, his father reassured him that he was just as good as anyone else.
He was determined to work hard, and demonstrate his equality regardless of race. He set out to be the best he could be and graduated high school at
the early age of fifteen. Martin Luther King Jr. then went to the distinguished school; Morehouse College, where he received a B.A. in 1948. After that
he ended up enrolled in graduate studies at Boston University, completing his residence for the doctorate in 1953. In 1957, Dr. Martin Luther... Show

Ethos is defined as "the trustworthiness or credibility of the writer or speaker."
"Aristotle tells us that three things "Inspire confidence in the rhetor's [speaker's/writer's] own character–the three, namely, that induce us to believe a
thing apart from any proof of it: good sense, good moral character, and goodwill."
Martin Luther King establishes all three concepts that Aristotle reveals to us, and in King's speech he uses good morals frequently because he is apart
of the African–American society and relates to everything that is happening. Martin Luther King Jr. establishes ethos throughout his famous "I Have A
Dream" speech and we can see this through his first statement that says "I am happy to join with you today," this quotation shows that he is not just
another speaker, he is a man that is feeling and has felt what the people are going through. He then later goes on and states that
"We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our
bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long
as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one."
Martin Luther King Jr. uses the word "we" in his speech thirty–two times and this proves that he is using ethos by connecting with the audience, and
showing them that

1.According to the California Department of Public Health, in 2010, from 4461 cases, at least 217 of them resulted in hospitalization and 9 ended with

Rhetorical Analysis
In order to create a persuasive essay, the author must take into consideration the following points: the audience attitude, the organization of the speech
and the appropriate use of the ethical guidelines. The audience attitude towards a topic is very important, given that is the general feeling about the
issue or person; according to the book Speak, people express their attitudes when they give their opinions. However, there are different type of
audiences such as: opposed, no opinion and in favor. When the audience has an opposed posture, the speaker is seeking for an incremental change. In
other words, he/she begins with a small change in order to make the listeners to move into the orator's direction. The second category of audience is the
no opinion, that is to say they are neutral, apathetic or uninformed with the topic. If the audience is apathetic, this means they are uninterested or
indifferent; the orator's goal is to show how the topic relates with the audience. When the audience is does not know enough about the topic... Show

The next thing to consider is the preposition. A preposition is a declarative sentence that identifies the orator's position. There are three types of
prepositions such as: proposition of fact, proposition of value and proposition of policy. In the following paragraph, the three classifications will be
explained. The proposition of fact has the goal to convince the audience about three different things, the first one is that it did or did not probably
occur or exist; the second one is that probably is or not true; and the third one is that it will or will not probably occur. The proposition of value is used
to convince the audience that something has more value than something else. The proposition of policy is used to convince the audience about a
particular action; uses words such as "should/shouldn't" or "do/don't" or "mus/must

How Schools Should Limit Food
In the beginning of her speech Kelly did not tell the audience exactly what she would be persuading them to want to do, instead you had to rely on
the PowerPoint slide and read what her topic was about. The first time I watched this I had no idea what she was talking about; I thought she was
trying to persuade her audience to make healthy choices by not eating such sugary based foods. This was similar to what her topic was about but the
second time through when I was watching I read the PowerPoint slide and realized it was something totally different. She failed to say that her topic
was about how schools should limit food in the cafeteria to only healthy choices, including the snack bar, but instead had her audience read it without
giving any information about what she would be speaking about. I believe it is important to include this even if it says what your talking about on a
slide. This high school student does include the main points she would be talking about, but I didn 't pick up on it the first time she doesn 't say clearly
that she will be talking about these things, but instead just lists how schools will help with these problems and goes right into talking about them. In
the first part of her speech she talks about weight gain. She includes facts and numbers talking about how school lunches can affect students in the long
run with failure of nutritious lunches. She tells us that we could be giving up years of our lives due to death from obesity. She then goes

MMS Reflection : Elephant Endangerment
MMS Reflection Finding my topic for this speech took some effort. My topic selection was narrowed down to something related to my service
learning at the Indianapolis zoo. I ultimately chose elephant endangerment and captivity that linked well with the zoo. I had to gain my audience's
attention by telling them a story about an elephant who was captured and taken away from his family. He was used as a show elephant and tortured
until he was eventually murdered. I accumulated pathos in the attention step to show emotional appeal. Through a survey I conducted, majority of
people knew somewhat of the need. I had to ensure the need was very real and acquire information to support my assertions. I gave my audience real
insight based on the need of elephant endangerment and captivity. During the visualization step, I had my audience imagine what they could gain by
helping elephants that cannot help themselves. I put it into perspective and had the audience think about if they noticed a missing person sign. They
had a chance to save that person but didn't have the courage. I then had them imagine what if they did save the person. The would've been considered a
hero and gained great praise for doing such an amazing thing. I put them into that state of mind to ultimately later want to do the same and help these
elephants in need. During my satisfaction step, I had to let the audience know what are some ways that they could help the elephants. Letting them

Evaluating A Persuasive Speech: Putting The Brak On...
Evaluating a Persuasive Speech After reviewing the sample persuasive speech titled "Putting the Brakes on Teenage Driving." I have concluded that
the speaker is attempting to persuade the audience to agree with her in regards to the importance of increasing the minimum age for drivers to 18 or
older. The speaker utilizes the Problem–Cause–Solution pattern and very closely mimicked the Monroe Motivated Sequence. However, she did not
make a call for action which is the last step in Monroe's model, and that would have probably made a better presentation and also been more effective
if she had requested that the audience sign a petition to demand change or give them the contact information of local legislation. Using the

A Lecture On Teachers Are Paid By Public Schools, And...
On April 28 of 2016, English professor at Diablo Valley, College Laury Fischer gave a lecture called "Whiteboard Jungle: Teacher in the Movies, TV,
and other Places We've Never Seen." Mr. Fischer, a professor himself, acted as an advocate for real teaching. He wanted to persuade the audience on
how Hollywood's portrayal of a teacher has shaped the teaching profession. Also, compared it with his experience as a teacher for 42 years and
experiences from his colleagues, emphasizing on how important is for teachers to leave a long lasting impression on their students.
All the way through the lecture, Mr. Fischer argued that the movies represent a different environment, where sometimes teachers have to "civilize"
students, and that in reality there is more thinking involved in the teaching process. Also challenges the idea that on films, teachers have to be either
incompetent or inspiring, in the real world, "teachers are paid by the public to do public good". Nowadays education has become more competitive, and
we discourage people from going into teaching, movies give us reasons to get dispirited and sort of conspire to keep students to become teachers. As a
consequence, we are facing a shortage of teachers in the United States. Solutions to address this problem had been unsuccessful like programs that
focus on training teachers like Teach For America which have not work. Mr. Fischer exposed that none of the actual presidential candidates had a
proposal that will demand the

Rhetorical Analysis Of Monroe's Motivated Sequence
DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF ANDREW JACKSON'S SPEECH
American colonists and the Native Americans of North America have had challenges getting along with each other ever since they encountered early in
the 17th century. During the American Revolutionary war they were allies but once the white settlers gained freedom, they started to seek more land,
which happened to be the land Native Americans occupied. After a long ferocious thirty year war, PresidentAndrew Jackson issued The first annual
address to congress, this article fulfills Monroe's Motivated Sequence, contains bias and assertion which marginalize and silence the voice of Native
Americans.

Jackson takes an ethical approach and asks a question when he illustrates this technique. "..And is it supposed that the wandering savage has a stronger
attachment to his home than the settled, civilized Christian?..." Jackson questions congress, which are all representatives of the settled people. It is
ironic that the government presently is trying to save the earth now, when during its civilization process it was doing the opposite, "..What good man
would prefer a country covered with forests and ranged by a few thousand savages to our extensive Republic, studded with cities, towns, and
prosperous farms,..... and filled with all the blessings of liberty, civilization, and religion?" Jackson uses tricolon at the end of this assertion because
the cumulative effect of three has a powerful effect on an audience. He does this so congress can believe that the native americans are not using the

Malala Yousafzai is a young woman speaking as a young education advocate at the Youth Takeover of the United Nations. This was her first speech

She is also trying to persuade her audiences to join her campaign in ensuring all children gain their right to education before the end of 2015. Her

they will appear un–manly. Watson's speech is also structured by Monroe's motivated sequence. She starts off her speech by speaking about her

Persuasive Speech On Vaccines

  • 1. Persuasive Speech On Vaccines In this speech, I will explore how vaccines relate to increased health issues, how the vaccination industry has failed to ensure vaccine safety protocols, and what we can do to create a safer and healthier environment in the future for all of us. Ultimately, the goal is to open a space in which people can decide to accept the message shared, which is that vaccination could be a serious issue that truly exists, affects us directly, and needs to be resolved. First, I introduce the problem by providing factual information that supports the proposition that vaccines could be the reason for serious health issues. The first example from Dr. William Torch gives official study results which show that two –thirds of the babies who received the DPT vaccine died shortly after from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (Miller). The second example of the pilot study report in the Journal of Translational Science comparing unvaccinated and fully–vaccinated children shows how vaccines negatively influenced the health of the vaccinated children (Bigtree 13–14). For the third example, Dr. Harris Coulter explains that the military accepts only diabetes–free people. Since many US Navy individuals contract Diabetes I after enlistment, the numerous vaccines these individuals are required to take during their service are considered responsible for the autoimmune disease (Coulter). The last example reveals that, according to a study conducted by Harvard Medical School, the Vaccine Adverse Events ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Rhetorical Analysis Of Speech By Dr. Martin Luther King The date and time for the speech was 28 August 1963. The speaker was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The audience were a massive group of civil rights marchers approximately two hundred fifty thousand. The topic the speaker addressed was for an end to racism in the United States, and economic and civil rights. I had minimum knowledge that it would be about addressing the end to discrimination of the negroes. Yes,the speaker was introduced as a great man of this nation. The speaker had a couple qualifications for speaking on this subject since he had a dream, and was a negro wanting an end to racist behavior. My initial impression of the speaker was a brave man to stand in front of thousands of people, and mention a matter that was serious. I personally would rate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another type of supporting material used would be narration as stated, "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed". Yes, the support is relevant and adequate. Yes, the speaker made good use of transitions briefly pausing after each statement; speaking in an understandable fashion. Yes, I found the appeals that were made compelling, a few examples from the speech, "ThankGod Almighty, we are free at last!", I have a dream that one day... crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all the flesh shall see it together." and "From every mountainside, let freedom ring". Yes, there was an adequate summary since the speaker used a call to action, "and when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet...will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual." The type of closing device would be the song, Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are all free at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Drinking Coke vs Drinking Warter J Calhoun June 21, 2012 COM 123 Persuasive Speech Drink Less Coke, More Water. Purpose: To persuade the audience to drink less coke and more water. Thesis: Drinking coke and other sodas are harmful to the body. Drinking less soda (especially coke) and more water will help you to become an overall healthier person with less health problems in the long run. Organizational Pattern: Monroe's Motivated Sequence IntroductionAttention Getting Device: What would it take to clean off an old, rusted coin? Many of you might believe any simple cleaning product would get the job done but, this is not so. The answer I'm looking for is coke. That's right, coke. Coke is so strong that it can remove dirt, rust and grime off of almost any... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... a.To achieve overall better health you will need to limit your soda consumption. It is necessary. b.There are three steps you will need to make in order to rid your body of hazardous chemicals and health issues caused by soda. I.First, you will need to identify that you have a soda consumption problem. If you only drink a few cups of soda a week you won't actually need to rid your body of soda. A good way to determine if you need to make changes is if your urine is on a normal basis darker than the color of lemonade. If it is leaning towards a medium yellow and gold color you need to drink more water. II.Second, after you have identified that you have a problem or need to drink less you will need to pick one of the two methods I previously stated. Either the day by day method or the cold turkey method. III.Third, after you have chosen a method you can now begin your process of drinking less coke and drinking more water. Try your best to keep a record of how many glasses of soda and water you are drinking each day. Transition– Once you have done the necessary actions, there are a few results you should expect to see. III. Main Point#3 – Finally, after about a few days or a week take a look at your progress and determine if that method really worked for you or if you need to alter things. • 4. Speech: Monroe's Motivated Sequence After preparing for this speech, I believe that it was a speech that was developed. The speech was very appropriate for the audience and occasion. This speech was appropriate because I discussed the reasons why higher education should receive higher funds for school. I created a clear specific purpose that I could accomplish in the allotted time. I believe I did a great job with the timing because the time required was six to seven minutes and I finished in six minutes and nineteen seconds. I believe the speech was well organized because I have used Monroe's Motivated Sequence. This sequence showed me how to organize my speech into a sequential order. I have fulfilled the major functions of the speech introduction. I have tried my best to create a great opening to get the audience's attention. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I searched many different programs that would help higher education students receiving more funding. My ideas were well supported and explained. I even used great citations to summarized what I was pertaining to. While speaking on a question of policy, I have demonstrated a need to change the current policy. Reason being is because there are many necessities that are required of students. I have presented a clear plan and gave many suggestions to solve the need. I provided these suggestions in the "take action" paragraph. I have proved the practicality of my plan. While doing so, I have used the criteria in my textbook for the effective use of supporting the materials. I have made an outline that was very similar to the example in the book. I have identified the target audience for my speech. The target audience were students who were suffering from the state not providing enough funds to cover their expenses for school. I used significant evidence to answer the potential objections of my target audience. I have presented my ideas in a clear, vivid, accurate, and appropriate language towards my ... Interpersonal Communication According to Petersen (2007), good communication is just as important in business, family, and social life. Listening well matters for coworkers, when intimacy is not the goal, but being able to work together effectively is. It helps keep friendships vital and even makes a difference in casual relationships where you merely want ease. 3. Introduction: What is Interpersonal Communication? • 6. Informative Speech When I was preparing for this speech, I knew I wanted to do this with a partner. Emily Struewing was the perfect partner to work with. Our goal was to pick a topic that appealed to our audience and how it would benefit our audience. Emily and I thought about issues we faced as college students and we came up with limited closet space. We did research and a survey and found out that multiple other students felt the same way. (Q.1.) The specific purpose of our speech was by the end of this speech, the audience will agree that the TechnoCloset would be a great investment for college students. I think Emily and I did well teaching the audience about our new innovation of the TechnoCloset because we gained attention, stated the needs, stated the satisfaction, and how it will benefit your future. (Q.2.) Working with a partner made the speech–making process much easier. In the demonstration and the informative speech, I struggled with creating an outline and writing the speech. Working with a partner made creating an outline easier. We sat down together Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and wrote the whole entire speech together and completed the outline. It felt like the speech making process was not as stressful and I felt more confident about the process because I had someone else helping me and brainstorming ideas. Another example of how the speech making process was easier was because we created the speech on google documents. This allowed both of us to look at what we had and edit the speech. We would alternate with one telling what to type and the other one typing what the partner was saying. We used the same document to practice our speech together too. We could continue to edit when we were practicing which allowed us to create an amazing speech. (Q.3.) During my presentation, I supported Emily while she was presenting. To show my support when she was talking, I would nod my head in agreement with what she said. An example would be when she said, "Now you have to wash your favorite sweatshirt and take the time and energy to fold it and out it away again for the possibility of the same cycle occurring again." When Emily stated this, I was nodding my head in agreement. Another example ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most Significant Learning Moment Analysis My Most Significant Learning Moment(s) in Professor Walsh's Class I have to begin starting off saying when I made my schedule for the semester and realized I had to take English 222 Effective Speech course I was very hesitant, public speaking was not something I wasn't too keen on doing I will admit. My degree calls for this course so I course my professor and off I went very skeptical that I would do well, get much from this class or even enjoy any of it. Boy was I wrong, not only did I enjoy every aspect of the class, I learned quite about public speaking, persuasive speech, Monroe's Motivated Sequence, the communication model and how we use it, the importance of listening, working in a group as well as group thinking, how conflict is not always verbal. We also had several group participation projects during this course, which I enjoyed very much, this is something very new to me and something that I had not done since high school. I honestly feel something that more professors should engage in along with group participation. The projects were great because they represented what we were learning and gave us a better understanding of how we were using not only writing skills but body language, creative skills, interpersonal skills, logic, behavioral skills, communication, mindfulness, listening, conflict, as well as presentational skills. As for myself, I do believe I could add more enhancement to my future group participation if I learn powerpoint, I have learned that this is a big presentation piece to displaying visuals, along with possibly being a bit more verbal with my opinions but not demanding just so I am heard. This is something that remains very true to my personal, family, and friends as well when speaking for myself. Identifying Perils Of Indifference 'And The Children's Era' Identifying Persuasive and informative Speeches For this week's assignment, I decided to analyze "The Perils of Indifference" by Elie Wiesel, and "The Children's Era" by Margaret Sanger. In 1999, Wiesel delivers an informative speech at the White House. In the beginning of Wiesel's speech he mentions his gratitude to the American people, as well as the president's wife for their actions, and concerns for (humanity) people in distress. Meanwhile, the speaker elaborates on the history of bloodshed and indifference, and its effect over the years in society. During this point of the outline, a chronological pattern is revealed. As the speaker describes indifference, he increases the audience understanding of a familiar topic. Nevertheless, depending on the audience, or era, the information within the message may be new to some people. The speaker explains the advantages and disadvantages of indifference; "my friends, good things have also happened in this traumatic century: the defeat of ... Just like you would do with questions of fact, you can create your main points by asking a strategic question in your thesis of "Why is this good?" or "Why is this moral?" But in cases where it isn't you can include what you mean by it, or saying inhumane, in your introduction or in your first main point. You will want to take in consideration what type of audience you're speaking to. Whether it be a animal rights group, PETA, people who don't even know what euthanization means, approach this subject with some sensitivity. You as the speaker are not asking the audience to do anything about it but just to believe that it's not a humane thing to do. The next type of persuasive speech is the speech of fact. With any of these speeches you will need a thesis. Begin with a thesis that states that something can be proven, that it happened or didn't happen. The use of the hashtag in the title symbolizes the digital mindset that people in 2016 currently live in. The internet had not yet taken off in 2003 and there wasn't an obsession with social media at this point. In 2016 everything is focused around the concept of instant information. When something significant happens in the U.S., the majority of people have that information in hand instantly through their handheld technologies. The increased use of technology has sparked a surge of social movement. This can be seen through multiple campaigns, one example would be the Black Lives Matter movement. The Black Lives Matter movement first began following the death of Trayvon Martin and the acquittal of the officer who shot him. This movement began with a simple hashtag. Now in 2003 the hashtag was better known as a pound sign whereas in 2016 it is a classic trademark of social media platforms. The hashtag allows one's beliefs to be categorized into a short statement. Supporters of the statement will then begin using the hashtag, thus causing a snowball effect. • 39. Rhetorical Analysis In order to create a persuasive essay, the author must take into consideration the following points: the audience attitude, the organization of the speech and the appropriate use of the ethical guidelines. The audience attitude towards a topic is very important, given that is the general feeling about the issue or person; according to the book Speak, people express their attitudes when they give their opinions. However, there are different type of audiences such as: opposed, no opinion and in favor. When the audience has an opposed posture, the speaker is seeking for an incremental change. In other words, he/she begins with a small change in order to make the listeners to move into the orator's direction. The second category of audience is the no opinion, that is to say they are neutral, apathetic or uninformed with the topic. If the audience is apathetic, this means they are uninterested or indifferent; the orator's goal is to show how the topic relates with the audience. When the audience is does not know enough about the topic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next thing to consider is the preposition. A preposition is a declarative sentence that identifies the orator's position. There are three types of prepositions such as: proposition of fact, proposition of value and proposition of policy. In the following paragraph, the three classifications will be explained. The proposition of fact has the goal to convince the audience about three different things, the first one is that it did or did not probably occur or exist; the second one is that probably is or not true; and the third one is that it will or will not probably occur. The proposition of value is used to convince the audience that something has more value than something else. The proposition of policy is used to convince the audience about a particular action; uses words such as "should/shouldn't" or "do/don't" or "mus/must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. How Schools Should Limit Food In the beginning of her speech Kelly did not tell the audience exactly what she would be persuading them to want to do, instead you had to rely on the PowerPoint slide and read what her topic was about. The first time I watched this I had no idea what she was talking about; I thought she was trying to persuade her audience to make healthy choices by not eating such sugary based foods. This was similar to what her topic was about but the second time through when I was watching I read the PowerPoint slide and realized it was something totally different. She failed to say that her topic was about how schools should limit food in the cafeteria to only healthy choices, including the snack bar, but instead had her audience read it without giving any information about what she would be speaking about. I believe it is important to include this even if it says what your talking about on a slide. This high school student does include the main points she would be talking about, but I didn 't pick up on it the first time she doesn 't say clearly that she will be talking about these things, but instead just lists how schools will help with these problems and goes right into talking about them. In the first part of her speech she talks about weight gain. She includes facts and numbers talking about how school lunches can affect students in the long run with failure of nutritious lunches. She tells us that we could be giving up years of our lives due to death from obesity. She then goes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. MMS Reflection : Elephant Endangerment MMS Reflection Finding my topic for this speech took some effort. My topic selection was narrowed down to something related to my service learning at the Indianapolis zoo. I ultimately chose elephant endangerment and captivity that linked well with the zoo. I had to gain my audience's attention by telling them a story about an elephant who was captured and taken away from his family. He was used as a show elephant and tortured until he was eventually murdered. I accumulated pathos in the attention step to show emotional appeal. Through a survey I conducted, majority of people knew somewhat of the need. I had to ensure the need was very real and acquire information to support my assertions. I gave my audience real insight based on the need of elephant endangerment and captivity. During the visualization step, I had my audience imagine what they could gain by helping elephants that cannot help themselves. I put it into perspective and had the audience think about if they noticed a missing person sign. They had a chance to save that person but didn't have the courage. I then had them imagine what if they did save the person. The would've been considered a hero and gained great praise for doing such an amazing thing. I put them into that state of mind to ultimately later want to do the same and help these elephants in need. During my satisfaction step, I had to let the audience know what are some ways that they could help the elephants. Letting them know 6 steps that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Evaluating A Persuasive Speech: Putting The Brak On... Evaluating a Persuasive Speech After reviewing the sample persuasive speech titled "Putting the Brakes on Teenage Driving." I have concluded that the speaker is attempting to persuade the audience to agree with her in regards to the importance of increasing the minimum age for drivers to 18 or older. The speaker utilizes the Problem–Cause–Solution pattern and very closely mimicked the Monroe Motivated Sequence. However, she did not make a call for action which is the last step in Monroe's model, and that would have probably made a better presentation and also been more effective if she had requested that the audience sign a petition to demand change or give them the contact information of local legislation. • 43. A Lecture On Teachers Are Paid By Public Schools, And... On April 28 of 2016, English professor at Diablo Valley, College Laury Fischer gave a lecture called "Whiteboard Jungle: Teacher in the Movies, TV, and other Places We've Never Seen." Mr. Fischer, a professor himself, acted as an advocate for real teaching. He wanted to persuade the audience on how Hollywood's portrayal of a teacher has shaped the teaching profession. Also, compared it with his experience as a teacher for 42 years and experiences from his colleagues, emphasizing on how important is for teachers to leave a long lasting impression on their students. All the way through the lecture, Mr. Fischer argued that the movies represent a different environment, where sometimes teachers have to "civilize" students, and that in reality there is more thinking involved in the teaching process. Also challenges the idea that on films, teachers have to be either incompetent or inspiring, in the real world, "teachers are paid by the public to do public good". Nowadays education has become more competitive, and we discourage people from going into teaching, movies give us reasons to get dispirited and sort of conspire to keep students to become teachers. As a consequence, we are facing a shortage of teachers in the United States. Solutions to address this problem had been unsuccessful like programs that focus on training teachers like Teach For America which have not work. Mr. Fischer exposed that none of the actual presidential candidates had a proposal that will demand the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jackson takes an ethical approach and asks a question when he illustrates this technique. "..And is it supposed that the wandering savage has a stronger attachment to his home than the settled, civilized Christian?..." Jackson questions congress, which are all representatives of the settled people. It is ironic that the government presently is trying to save the earth now, when during its civilization process it was doing the opposite, "..What good man would prefer a country covered with forests and ranged by a few thousand savages to our extensive Republic, studded with cities, towns, and prosperous farms,..... and filled with all the blessings of liberty, civilization, and religion?" Jackson uses tricolon at the end of this assertion because the cumulative effect of three has a powerful effect on an audience.
