The Tukwila School District awards this year's Community Service recognition to Pastor Jan Bolerjack! "I think she may be an actual angel." "She is the most selfless person I have ever met." "She is THE person to turn to when our families have nowhere else to go." These are just a few of the many, many accolades from counselors and social workers about Rev. Jan Bolerjack—aka Pastor Jan—of Riverton Park United Methodist. Her careers span education, nursing, and ministry, giving her a holistic approach to social justice and service. Pastor Jan's love of our students and overwhelming hope for the future is evident in all that she does. When one of our families runs out of resources and is simply at a dead end, Pastor Jan is there to take our call—whether it be with shelter in her church or its grounds, food from her community food pantry, clothes or hygiene items, or a work/health/social connection. She serves our elementaries as a substitute teacher. She actively promoted our successful 2016 bond measure. She led the fight for a higher local minimum wage. The list goes on and on. She is a true Tukwila treasure.
