ORDER:
In the G.O 1st
read above, the Government have notified the ‘Development
Area’ for Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region with an extent of 6501.65 Sq. KMs as
detailed in the schedule to the notification appended to the G.O 1st
read above.
2. Subsequently, vide G.O 2nd
read above the Government have issued orders
excluding an extent of 1628.27 Sq. Kms covered in Srikakulam district from
Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) development
area and included in the Development Area of Srikakulam Urban Development
Authority, as such the area of VMRDA is 4873.38 Sq.Kms.
3. In the G.O 3rd
read above, Government have issued orders for inclusion of
Merakamudidam Mandal, Vizianagaram district covering (41) villages with a total
extent of 17529 hectares or 175.29 Sq.Kms into Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region
Development Authority as such, the total extent of Development Area of
Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority is 5048.67 Sq.kms.
4. In the letter 4th
read above, the Metropolitan Commissioner, Visakhapatnam
Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has informed that, out of 43
Mandals of Visakhapatnam District, 19 Mandals are already covered by VMRDA and
11 Mandals are covered in agency area and the remaining 13 non Agency Mandals
are outside the VMRDA area. Due to rapid urbanization of Visakhapatnam city, a
significant urban sprawl detected in the fringe areas of existing VMRDA limits towards
western corridor of Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region. In order to reduce pressure
on urban infrastructure of the city, to ensure planned development in the fringe areas
and to control the hazarded development by way of curbing unauthorized
constructions development, the said 13 Mandals which are in contiguous in nature
and having potential to develop as urban areas and the same have witnessed
decadal percentage growth of urban population from 4.10% to 8.02% in the last
decade i.e. year 2001 – 2011, may be brought in to the jurisdiction of Visakhapatnam
Metropolitan Region Development Authority.

5. Government after careful examination of the matter, have decided to include
thirteen (13) Mandals falling in Non-Agency areas of Visakhapatnam district, covering
(431) Villages with an extent of 2,28,019 hectares or 2,280.19 Sq.Kms, into the
Development Area of Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region.
6. Accordingly, the appended notification will be published in the Extra-ordinary
issue of Andhra Pradesh Gazette dated:23.03.2021
7. The Commissioner, Printing, Stationery and Stores Purchase, AP Vijayawada
shall publish the said notification in the Extra-ordinary issue of Andhra Pradesh
Gazette and furnish 10 copies of the notification to the Government.
8. A copy of this order is available in the Internet and can be accessed at the

NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub section (1) of section (3) of the
Andhra Pradesh Metropolitan Region and Urban Development Authorities Act, 2016
(Andhra Pradesh Act No.5 of 2016), the Government of Andhra Pradesh, hereby
include thirteen (13) Mandals falling in Non-Agency areas of Visakhapatnam district
covering (431) Villages with an extent of 2,28,019 hectares or 2,280.19 Sq. Kms into
the Development Area of Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region, as shown in the
schedule below. Now, the total extent of Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region
Development Authority, is 7328.86 Sq.Kms.
