HOW DOES A PERSON IN PASSION BEHAVE?
A person in passion chooses his food that is too bitter, too
sour, salty, hot, pungent, dry and burning. Such foods
cause distress, misery and disease. E.g. All kinds of fast
food
He does his duty for some material benefit, or for the sake
of pride.
He performs austerity out of pride and for the sake of
gaining respect, honorand worship. Sage Vishvamitra did
austerity in order to compete with Vasishtha. Thus such
austerity falls in the mode of passion.
He gives charity with the expectation of some return, or
with a desire for fruitive results, or in a grudging mood.
Karna’s charity falls in this category. He gave to Indra his

2. armour in charity but in return he wanted Indra’s weapon
so that he can kill Arjuna.
