CHAPTER 09
THE GREATEST SECRET
Think of Krishna, become His devotee, worship Him &
offer your respects to Him
This way you will go back to Him
Lesson-01
Krishna explains to Arjuna the glory of practicing bhakti
yoga in this chapter
WILL KRISHNA TAKE CARE OF ME IF I TAKE HIS
SHELTER?
Krishna is taking care of entire world. Even elephants
who eat hundredsof kilos do not stay hungry by
Krishna’s arrangement. Then why will He not take care of
His dear devotees who completelydepend upon Him? In
fact, Krishna personallytakes care of such devotees.
Krishna assures that those who always worship Him with
exclusive devotion - to them He carries what they lack,
and He preserve what they have.
2. Pastimeof Arjunacarya
There was one devotee named Arjunacarya. He was a
scholar of Bhagavad-Gita. So when he reads the verse
where Krishna is telling Arjuna, “I carry what they lack
and I preserve what they have”, he was little doubtful. He
thinks how can the Lord personallycarry what the
devotee lacks? He must be arranging through His agents.
So he strikes off the word “vahami”(means He carries)
and writes “karomi”(means He arrange) instead. Later he
goes to river to take bath.
Meanwhile, two boys, one with beautiful bluish
complexion and otherwith beautiful white complexion
reach Arjunacarya’s house where his wife receives them.
The two boys carry ample of fruits and grains on their
back and tell the wife that her husband has sent it for her.
And then the blue boy shows his back and says: But your
husband has also beaten me badly. Look at these marks
on my back. The wife becomes angry at her husband’s
cruelty. She feeds the boys nicely. When Arjunacarya
returns from his bath his wife chastises him for beating
the child. Arjunacarya becomes confused. Then his wife
narrates the whole story to him. Arjunacarya realizes that
the boys were noneother than Lord Krishna and Lord
Balarama personallycarrying foodstuffs for him.
3. Arjunacarya understandsthat the words of Gita perfectly
correct.
MORAL: When Lord says “I carry”, it means He actually
personallycarrieswhat devotees lack and preserves what
devotees have.Arjuncaryaalso understandsthat the lines
on Krishna’s backwere due to his striking off words of
Gita. There is no differencebetween Krishnaand
Krishna’swords (Bhagavad-gita).
