Phytochemical analysis found that petroleum ether, alcoholic, and aqueous basic extracts of the plant contained phenols, tannins, flavonoids and other compounds. DPPH, H2O2, and OH- ion antioxidant assays showed the ethanol extract had the best antioxidant activity with IC-50 values of 38.37, 85.27, and 202.79 μg/ml respectively. Therefore, the hepatoprotective activity of the ethanol extract will be assessed.
