Comparison Of The Chrysler Building And The Seagram Building
When thinking of buildings that were ahead of their time two come to mind the Chrysler Building and the Seagram Building. Both of these structures
were built to withstand the elements of time and are still beautiful to this day. These buildings have been featured on the cover of magazines, tv
shows and are modern marvels in today's society. Between the two buildings, one can not help but look at the similarities as well as the differences
between the two. Today I want to discuss these differences as well as the similarities and go into greater detail on why these buildings are significant.
The Chrysler Building is an Art Deco style skyscraper that was built during one of the most severe economic downturns in this country's history. The
building was finished in the year 1930 and is located in New York City. The Chrysler Building was constructed using stainless steel over an exposed
building surface which was a first for its time (History of Walter P. Chrysler and the Chrysler Building, "n.d.). The next important thing to think about
when understanding the Chrysler Building is to figure out what it was designed for. Although the building was not owned by Chrysler it was used for

(Wheelen & Hunger, 2012, p. 17–2). The 1960s would deliver Chrysler to Europe and the 1970s would lead Chrysler to a decline in auto sales as well
as its first corporate restructuring, where CEO Lee Iacocca would initiate "several cost–cutting measures" that would allow the company to rebound by
the mid 1980s (Wheelen & Hunger, 2012, 17–3). Unfortunately for Chrysler, a company that started with debt, by the late 1980s the company would
