Narayana Murthy founded Infosys Ltd in 1981; Infosys is a global software consulting
company. Under his leadership Infosys was listed on NASDAQ (National Association of
Securities Dealers Automated Quotations) in 1999.
Among his most notable rewards is the Padma Vibhushan and Padma Shri, He designed and
implemented the Global Delivery Model which has become the foundation for the huge
success in IT services outsourcing from India. Narayana Murthy was listed as one among the
“12 greatest entrepreneurs of our time” by the Fortune magazine in 2012. The Economist
ranked him among the ten most-admired global business leaders in 2005.

Narayana Murthy was born in Mysore and graduated from the University of Mysore and
pursued his masters in engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1969. He worked with institutions
such as IIM Ahmedabad, and pursued his first entrepreneurial dream in 1976 founding the
company Softronics, He later founded Infosys in 1981, and he currently serves as the
Chairman of Emritus, Infosys. Narayana Murthy also serves as an independent director on the
corporate boards of HSBC and has served as a director on the boards. He also serves as a
member of the advisory boards and councils of several educational and philanthropic
institutions, including Cornell University, INSEAD, Ford Foundation and the UN
Foundation
