Pixelated image can be printed out by using silk screening but you need to learn some
instructions regarding it in order to make it an effective one for you. You have to use
CMYK for creating the screen and film and also they must be printed in the perfect way
of registration. You will require many things to do this job. Primarily you need adobe
Photoshop, pixelated image, clear vellum, photo emulsion, halide light, foam rubber
square, laser printer, degreasing soap, heavy glass, registration system for paper prints
and four color silk screen ink. Some of the instruction which you need to follow are:
The first step in the process will be to choose or select the pixelated image file into a silk
screen print. You should use an image of high contrast and stronger composition. Next
step would be to open the Photoshop and select the color setting. Make the dot gain to
thirty percent and select the mode to be in CMYK mode. Load the printer in a clear
2. vellum. Press CTRL+1 for the purpose of isolating the cyan plate inside the pixelated
image. After this you need to select file>print>screen. Here you need to make some
settings for this you have to make the frequency to 55 and make the shape to round.
Select ok after this but don’t save the changes you have made. After this you have to
make the four silk screens which is stretched with 305 count synthetic screen mesh using
the degreasing soap. Leave them to dry after washing it and coat them from the photo
emulsion. After drying it, place the screen face below foam rubber square. Also clear the
vellum using cyan print face below and place a heavy glass on the top. Further in the
process you need to hang the halide light 20 inches above the glass and turn it on
whenever there is a necessity exposure according to the emulsion instructions. Create a
medium pressure on the image with warm water. Repeat the process with other three
colours. After the screen dries try to place them inside the four clamps on screen printing
press.
Next step will be to tape the film positives on the print area of the press which should
align with the four registers mark present on each of the corners. Tighten the clamps
when the register is achieved. The final step would be to add some ink into the silk screen
frames a pull a print with squeegee in the order of: yellow, magenta, cyan and black. You
can print wet on wet for printing the fabrics and t-shirts but for the paper you need to wait
for the colours to dry out before printing on the next colour. For the purpose of
satisfaction you can review your work properly for the mistakes you have done in the
process of printing it. You can also try four colour print with a spot colour image before
trying out with the pixelated image.
