1. Media Evaluation Question 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product
2. Technologies Used The technologies I used throughout my design work are: Apple Mac Computers Windows Digital Cameras Photoshop In Design Microsoft Word
3. From the process of constructing my product, I have learnt many things, usually through the process of not being able to use them, and then learning, for example, lets take firstly Photoshop as it was along with in design the design tools I used mostly to design Photoshop: the use of Photoshop has been a rewarding although frustrating one, if you don't know how to use it then it is difficult to get the hang of straight away. For example, it is hard to establish how to use the layers properly and unlike Microsoft software for example, you do have to select specific layer to be able to select what part of your product you want to edit. Some of the tools I used within Photoshop were the Stroke tool and the Drop shadow tool. I used these to create a more emphatic impression from my magazine title. I also used a tool to edit the text so that it became more compact together also to make it bolder so I could make the bits stand out that I wanted too. I also learnt alot more about the large range of fonts available to use on Photoshop, for example ‘uneasy’ which was a prominent font in both my front cover and contents page
4. Adobe In Design I had previously used In Design, and therefore it wasn’t as much of a challenge as Photoshop, also I only used In Design for one of my pages, so didn't have as much time to encounter difficulties. The only problem I encountered was to add a page to use it for my double page spread but I was able to do that. Like in Photoshop I was able to discover a number of new fonts. A new skill that I picked up was to be able to create a box and fill it whatever colour I chose and then be able to send it to the back of the page so I could put writing over the top of it and not in it, this is clearly visible on my double page spread. I also learnt how to place and image and then be able to select it and proportion it to the page so that it wasn't out of focus or stretched. And I used this skill to cover the whole right hand page of my double page spread, with an image
5. Digital Cameras I had, had some experience with digital cameras before this project, although limited, it did come in useful with the basics for the pictures I took. I was able to successfully use zoom, change the lighting, play around with some different effects such as black and white, and sepia, the black and white effect I ended up using as my main cover picture. I also had a good knowledge of different angles that would work best for the type of shot I wanted, high angles, low angles etc. There is evidence of this throughout my magazine, as all photographs I used are completely different
