Mentor Graphics
The vision statement in a business organization is a tool used to give motivation and direction
towards which all employees focus. Formed in the early 1980's, Mentor Graphics started with an
unarticulated vision to "Build Something That People Will Buy." (Palmer, Dunford, & Akin, 2009).
Driven by the need to survive as a business the vision was changed to "Beat Daisy" which later
changed to "Six Boxes" then "10X Imperative" and in the early 1990s finally getting back to where
they started with "Our current short–, medium–, and long–term vision is to build things people will
buy".
From the case you learn that Mentor Graphics struggled with finding a company focused vision and
some issues they faced were not changing quick enough, too many changes and developing a vision
that was not based on the organizations core business purpose. The "Beat Daisy" vision was suitable
for the company's situation at the time, but the company struggled to develop another suitable vision
afterwards. The visions had no real purpose or meaning and more so reflected the market fads.
Because the vision is important to the overall functionality of the organization it should contain
present clear values that help define the goals of the organization. In this case the visions were being
changed without taking into consideration the focus of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The changes in vision allowed for the survival of the business in the market but skewed the initial
objectives of the company which were to build something that people will buy. As a result, the
changes weakened the company's vision by veering the focus from the core values and goals of the
organization. In time, getting back to the initial roots of the company and creating a new vision led
the organization full circle and established a vision that re–emphasized why they are in

Lewin's Force Field Analysis
Lewin's Force Field Analysis
Force Field Analysis is a model which shows a current level of a business in which it is affected by
driving forces which are positive and encourages development of a plan and also restraining forces
which are negative and hinder the development of a plan. In other words, to ensure that a decision is
well made, the positivity of the driving forces has to exceed the negativity of the restraining forces.

* Driving forces means forces that are positive, logic and reasonable.
* Restraining forces means forces that are negative, illogical and unreasonable.
In this concept, both forces are equally significant in making sure a decision or should be executed.

Change
After the uncertainty created in the unfreeze stage, the change stage is where people begin to resolve
their uncertainty and look for new ways to do things. People start to believe and act in ways that
support the new direction.
The transition from unfreeze to change does not happen overnight: People take time to embrace the
new direction and participate proactively in the change
In order to accept the change and contribute to making the change successful, people need to
understand how the changes will benefit them. Not everyone will fall in line just because the change
is necessary and will benefit the company. This is a common assumption and pitfall that should be
avoided.

Time and communication are the two keys to success for the changes to occur. People need time to
understand the changes and they also need to feel highly connected to the organization throughout
the transition period. When you are managing change, this can require a great deal of time and effort
and hands–on management is usually the best approach.

for its top 50 executives. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with some participants
commenting that the workshop prompted life–changing experiences. Its

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Florence Kelley's Speech
Florence Kelley was a United States social worker and reformer who fought successfully for child
labor laws and improved conditions for working women. Throughout her speech to the Philadelphia
Convention of the National American Woman Suffrage Association, she stresses the importance of
changing the working conditions that are in place for children. By using child labor as her baseline,
Kelley is able to talk about her main point, which is her suggestion for women's rights with the help
of repetition, strong word choice, and opposition. Kelley starts off her speech with a bang by
constantly repeating herself, which allows the audience to understand how important the points she
is trying to get across truly are. For example, on lines 10–12 she states, "Men increase, women
increase, youth increase, boy increase..." By using such dramatic repetition, Kelley causes the
audience to feel sadness towards the children, since they are being treated like adults at such a
young age. Kelley continues her strong usage of repetition throughout the entire story by constantly
stating the words "little white girls" should not be doing the type of jobs that adults do. By using
more little white girl statements rather than little white boy statements in her speech, Kelley is able
to show the problem in child labor, but more importantly the change that is needed for women's
rights. Finally, on lines 92–96 she goes onto say, "For the sake of the children, for the Republic in
which these children...

Change
We don't continue on as we are. We change and are forever changing "if we don't change we don't
grow. If we don't grow, we aren't really living" Gail Sheehy, suggests that for change to work
efficiently we must learn from what has happened in the past. Change can be a positive force, we
have the power to change to create world peace, and on the other hand change can be negative.
Having to change your lifestyle after being paralysed in a car accident.

Gwen is resistant to change. She undergoes immense change after hearing about Vic's son,
recognising that he faces death at such a young age and that his parents face loosing their only child.
This realisation gives Gwen the strength to change and apologise to Jim, admitting that she had been
unfair and judgemental, in her attitudes toward other people, especially migrants, people with less
wealth and artists. Gwen needs to apologise for constantly complaining and making a big deal out of
every situation. For example the play, in which meg had performed, Gwen was the first to criticise
as she quotes "what did u have to do Shakespeare for?" she dragged the conversation, placing her
disapproving upon the whole play .Her apologies towards Jim are necessary after Jim asks for his
keys at the play, causing Gwen's temper reaches fever pitch, making a scene as she trows her
belongings around. Gwen is unable to continue as she was. She is in need of change in her life, as
George Bernard Shaw once said, "Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot
change their minds cannot change anything". Through the intensity of emotional conflict, which she
encounters, Gwen has had to acknowledge the inevitability of change in life. The lives of Jim, Meg
and Gwen are undergoing enormous change, arguing

Hard Rock Returns To Prison Poem Analysis
The "Hard Rock" was a main inmate in the poem. The name of Hard Rock is based on a hard nut to
crack because he was the only one inmate who never submitted and gave a lot of troubles to officers.
The Hard Rock was treated really badly and punished as warning to other inmates in the hospital.
Why he was treated so badly is because not only he never submitted to officers; there might be that
he was a black person. While the Hard Rock was treated badly, other inmates were very submissive
to officers because they did not want to be treated in the same way as Hard Rock. He was forced
under the strong power in the oppressive community, yet he had the power of perseverance and was
very strong; hence, his attitude has not changed through the poem. The Hard Rock was a hero for
other inmates because he was very strong, against the authority, and brought hope to other inmates
in the poem "Hard Rock Returns to Prison" by Etheridge Knight. The Hard Rock was very strong.
Hard Rock was standing every treatment he had, no matter how badly the treatment was; thus, his
body was full of scars and welts. His treatment by officers and doctors were inhumane. For
instances, he has cut his brain and shot electricity while he was operated by doctors to make him
submissive. In addition, there was testing if Hard Rock had changed his attitude and submitted to
officers, yet he has not changed. Diversity of extreme punishments on Hard Rock could not only
change the behavior; it could also ruin the

Graduation Speech Essay
Good evening.
A couple weeks ago, I was attempting to clean my room when I unearthed an old yearbook from my
days in middle school. Rather absentmindedly I opened the book to browse through it. However,
before long I became immersed in the memories brought back to life and quickly lost track of time.
Over an hour later, I set the book aside and marveled at how much had changed since then. Not only
had people changed physically, but they had also changed their friends, habits and behaviors.
Furthermore, we have all grown as a result of the changing world around us, a changing world that
has witnessed the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, as well as the constant birth of new technologies which
make our lives easier. These changes have shaped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The days of having one teacher teach you English, math, science and art were over. There would
now be a different teacher and a different classroom for every subject. Furthermore, there would be
no recess in middle school. To me, that was the most frightening aspect of all. However, for all the
alarm evoked at the thought of moving from elementary to middle school, there was an undeniable
sense of excitement and adventure. We were growing up, we were moving on to the next stage in
life, a stage ripe with opportunities for self–growth and discovery.
By the same token, the transition from high school was a dichotomy – anticipation for the future and
trepidation for the unknown. For some, the change may have been only a slight bump in the road;
for others, it may have been a monstrous chasm that needed crossing. No matter the difficulty, we all
survived our freshman year. Many people may even have spectacular memories of that first year in
high school – I know members of the girls soccer team do. It was the year in which our team won
the title of league champions and went on to state. Likewise our seniors who were just on the girls
basketball team will have wonderful memories of making it to state for the first time in the history
of our school.
At times the path to graduation may have seemed never–ending, characterized by unexpected
obstacles and barriers. But there were also the many highlights to

Life In The 21st Century
The world is changing, and changing fast. Technology, education, health, eating habits, dress – there
is hardly anything in life that is not changing, some changes we like, while others create fear and
anxiety. Several predictions were made that the world will end in 2012 based on the rollover of the
Mayan calendar but all these forecasting were proved to be fictitious. On the contrary we are living
in the 21st century, 2025 and the world has changed tremendously in the last 13 years. The world
has been transformed by the digital revolution and advances in medicine and human knowledge. The
present–day civilization stands on two legs, one is spirituality, and the other is science.
Today, I woke up and have a coffee. My eyes got baffled to the digital newspaper headlines and it
was written that 'Colonization on Mars has begun'. Then suddenly I remembered my old days when
newspapers were printed on papers. Technology has changed every aspect of life. Now people are
going to live on Mars and the problem of over–population has been solved. Then I got ready and
proceed towards my office. Earlier we have to catch an auto or bus to reach our destination and now
the transportation has become so simple that we can travel from one place to another with ease.
Being as an engineer in Metro Services I feel proud to work there because it has solved the
transportation problem. While sitting in the metro I saw the streets which were so clean that not
even a single paper was thrown away. At

St. Lucy's Home For Girls Raised By Wolves : Book Analysis
In St.Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves Karen Russell conveys a story of how difficult it is to
change one way of life to another. She uses alliterations such as "...we puddled up the yellow carpet
of newspapers and beds..."(Russell 231). Even though people should learn to adapt because the
world is always changing, a person should never be judged based on who they are; for example, the
girls in St. Lucy's were forced to change, and despite their changes they were not always kindly
judged.
Life changes. That is a proven fact. Life is not what it was twenty years ago. When life changes it is
one of those things that sometimes you don't have any control over, how fast it moves, or how slow.

Also in the sixties if someone was African–American and were unkempt it people make charter
assessments. Also in St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves these girls were judged. "She took
clumps of her scraggly, nut–brown hair that she held straight out from her head,"(Russell 229) the
author is explaining that the girl's hair is scraggly, and if someone saw this girl they may think she is
a homeless child or not well kept. After the girls have been showered and given proper clothes they
start to look better. However, they don't act properly, they daydream "...of rivers and meats (Russell
230). "We puddled up the newspapers" (Russell 231). This means that they urinated on the floor to
show they weren't going to change. Later in the story they were proven wrong because these girl had

Being afraid is a scary feeling. Mirabella was eight years old when she was taken from her home in
the woods. At the age of eight studies say, "...mother–child separation causes attachment issues in
relationships and with others"(Ugo Uche 14). This is what Mirabella was dealing with. This poor
girl was deeply connected with her mother and family. This experience was ripped away from her,
and this caused her not to become comfortable with her new surroundings. These experiences
caused her to be the slowest to adapt. Also, she is the youngest. Most of the youngest children try to
do their own thing thinking it will give them more attention. Researchers say "...the

How Change is Important to Grow Essay
The area of study: change, has helped me deepened my understanding on the different forms of
change and how change can affect people in different way. During my study of Tim Winton's book
"The Turning" and Michael Jackson's song "Man in the Mirror ",I have learnt that change is
important in order for a person to grow and can take many forms in any aspect of our lives. Tim
Winton's Big World has helped me understand a new face of change. The change in the story is
about the changing relationship between the narrator and his best friend Biggie and the narrator's
own outlook it in life. Winton expresses the idea of their changing relationship through secrecy,
loyalty, sacrifice and betrayal and elucidates the principle of relationship by ... Show more content

The imagery of "salt lakes that blaze... in every direction", to demonstrate how the narrator has
changed from a person who believes that his future is bleak to a person who opened his mind to new
possibilities, which he has gained from his past failures and from his relationship with Biggie.
Tim Winton portrayal of changing relationship in "Big World" has helped me understand how the
dejection we get from a commensalistic relationship can conclude with a positive perspective on
how relationships are a learning curve for change and experience.
Change plays an important role in constructing emphasis of one's changing perspective and it has
shown how significant one's view is in shaping one's identity and personality that was shown in Tim
Winton's "On Her Knees".
In "On Her Knees" it show's Vic change of perspective and attitudes towards his mother's principle
and work ethic, through his narration in describing his mother without glamour or sugar coating,
creating a negative imagery towards his mother. This technique is used to reflect his own candid
understanding to his mother's individuality. He can only see the facade of his mother's egotistical
behaviour similar to how he sees time and work has taken away her youth. Vic described her as
someone who has "ravaged hand" and her "veins stood out in her calves" that shows how her mother
aged and has withered, due to her manual career. He has a very superficial comprehension and

To Kill a Mockingbird
In Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird events and conflicts take place causing changes in characters.
Some of the characters that are changed include Mrs. Dubose, Jem, Scout, and even Mr. Arthur
Radley. Each of these events has a background to help change the characters. Mrs. Dubose is helped
to change her charter in the novel by Jem reading to her, Aunt Alexandra comes to live with Atticus,
Jem, and Scout changing Scout's character, and Arthur Radley's character is changed by the event of
Jem and Scout being attacked by Bob Ewell. Atticus's son, Jem, finds trouble with Mrs. Dubose; this
caused a change in her character. Jem becomes angry with Mrs. Dubose because of her comments
about Atticus to him and Scout; out of anger Jem "cut the tops off every camellia bush Mrs. Dubose
owned, until the ground was littered with green buds and leaves" (103). When Atticus became aware
of Jem's actions he sent him down the street to apologize to Mrs. Dubose for what he had done. As a
punishment, Mrs. Dubose asked that Jem to come to her home and read to her every day for a
month. As asked Jem did bringing Scout along each day. After a month had went by Jem was asked
to continue coming to read to her. Jem was not a fan of the idea but he did not want to disappoint
Atticus so he did as he told him. Later, after Mrs. Dubose passes away, Jem is informed of why the
reading was important to Mrs. Dubose. She had a morphine addiction and reading to her was
helping her to break her habit. Jem

Analyzing Mrs. Putman's 'Flowers For Algernon'
When I heard what we were going to do with Mrs. Putman's class I thought it was a good idea. I
knew that their class would like us reading to them and making a story. When we did read with them
they loved it and that made me happy. Mrs. Putman said they talked about it all day. The only thing I
was worried about was maybe that the person I had to read with would be shy and it would be
harder for me to talk to them and ask them the questions for their stories. When I met the person I
was reading with, Caden. I didn't have to worry anymore because he had no problem talking with
me and answering the questions I asked and even asking me questions back. I was excited to about

It made me wonder if anyone in their class had ever wished to be different like the main character
Charlie Gordon. My outlook changed after the story because all of the details of how he was
changing and starting to understand things made me sad to think that someone would have to go
through the surgery and finding out new things that hurt your feelings just to love the way they were
when they could stay the same and be happy without changing because really it is the other people
who need to change. It is upsetting that people with mental illnesses are underestimated because
they're so much more than what you see. Charlie Gordon wanted to be smart so he could understand
the things the people around him did. In the end he found out that all the things he finally
understood just hurt him. Seeing how Charlie Gordon changed throughout the story was sad because
he didn't like the way he was. If Charlie would have had more supportive parents he would be able
to accept his condition and not want to change himself. The woman in the factory tells Charlie it was
wrong of him to change, I agree because you should like yourself the way you are. I hope that my
partner and the other kids in the class know that they don't have to change themselves or be smart
just to be happy because everyone is good at something. I hope we will do more activities with Mrs.

Book Vs Story
Books each have their own story to tell, similar to a person's story. The story never contains a final
denouement, just like how a person's story can always grow. In this way, books and lives are
intertwined together into a tightly– knit network. A network that has always been there, and always
will be there. Therefore, life is a library of unfinished books. Books are never quite completely
finished. There is always more you can add to make your book better. Revisions, extra paragraphs,
and even details. A book is never a perfect masterpiece. Similar to how a project can always be
nurtured to become stronger. "It just won't work," Katrina sighed, setting the car down with a bang.

Clementi? Someone likes him, ha! I scoffed. But my subconsciousness thought otherwise. I
mentally made a `note to check him out later. After school, I slammed the letters CLEMENTI'S
SONATINAS into Google. An endless selection of results popped up. Clicking on a video playing
Sonatina No. 3, I leaned back and listened. That was when everything changed. The performer's
fingers gracefully flew across the piano, changing rhythm dramatically as the movements passed.
The dynamics caused the music to fill up my whole room with harmony. I could almost hear the
emotions Clementi so desperately kneaded into the measures. Happiness. Heartbreak. Glee. Is this
really Clementi? I wondered. I continued to research, trying to understand the composer, just as if I
was understanding the true meaning of a book. My previous view on Clementi changed from loath
to wonder literally overnight. From then on, I immersed myself in this piece. I spent hours sitting on
the cushioned black bench of my piano, trying to mimic the harmony I had heard, ignoring
everything else in my way. Two weeks later, I was ready to present my impersonations of Clementi

Interview With My Father Research Paper
For the interview I decided to interview my dad because I know that he has many opinions about
today's society. There's more to the reason behind me choosing my dad as the one I wanted to
interview. Besides him having strong opinions, he also in my opinion at least has very compelling
arguments for almost any topic you can think of. Many things happened in society in my dad's life
that has made him the man he is today. My dad explain to me that the number one event that
impacted him as a child the most in society was drugs. With the problems going on with my mom he
told me that he went through almost the exact same things with his mother. His mom and, though I
am not certain I also believe that his father, both used drugs and during this time period it was the
war on drugs, so it was apart of his daily life. The part that he told me impacted him was the fact he
had to keep it to himself, which he feels is the reason that to this day he barely opens up to his own
family. I was told the thing that he, and most people nowadays, wish that social media and the status
obssession were different. When it comes to anything political with my dad he will give you his
honest opinion. When it came to which president changed his future he believes that the one that
changed it positively he picked Reagan because of things changing within the Military. When it
came to the negative effect the president he thought instead of Reagan that Clinton was the one.

Taming Of The Shrew Character Analysis
Why do people make others change who they are and the way that they act? Some people may do so
for the benefit of themselves, which is something that occurs in Taming of the Shrew. Others may
change and not even realize which is also something that commonly happens. Change in a person is
only a good thing if it is not forced upon them.
Taming of the Shrew involves a lot of transformation whether it be someone's personality/attitude or
someone in a disguise. Katharine's personality is quickly portrayed in the first act of the play as a
mean, disobedient person. Gremio mentions, "To cart her rather. She's too rough for me" (I.i.55).
Katharine is constantly rude and unpleasant to everyone around her. No one ever really wants to be
near her. She is the complete opposite of her younger sister, Bianca, whom everyone adores because
of her subservience. Even Gremio mentions Kate is too "rough" for him and that is the way Kate has

It is wrong for someone to change another person for the benefit of themselves and should never be

transformed into an entirely new person. Bianca changed as well, though she was not forced to. She

Traditional Roles Of Women And Men
When comparing the roles of women and men from the earliest ages in humanity, the roles of men
has remained relatively the same for generations, while women's roles have undoubtedly undergone
tremendous reforms. The traditional roles of women could be exhibited as early as the Paleolithic
age, in the era of hunter–gatherers where women were to stay near their dwellings and gather crops
while the men were to go out and hunt animals to feed the family. This notion developed into the
traditional roles of men being the protectors and breadwinners of the family and women being the
mothers and caretakers which were known up until the mid–1900s, when this outlook began to shift.
Correspondingly, the man in the family was also expected to be the head of the household and make
all major decisions and handling finances and things as such. This was prevalent in a majority of
places globally, with some cultural exceptions such as the Touareg tribe of the Sahara desert. Unlike
most Western societies, the Touaregs believed the woman was to be the dominant partner in
marriages and in the family, controlled the finances and property, and even allowed women to have
multiple partners as well (Patel). Of course, this was unheard of in the West, where female sexuality
was seen as taboo at the time and was viewed as a threat to the patriarchal system that was
traditionally adorned. Comparatively, the perception of female intelligence prior to the 20th century
has been undermined, as women's

Gregor, the main character from the book, "The Metamorphosis" written by Franz Kafka, is about a
young man that works to hard and turned into a bug because his parents pushed him to be a hard
worker. Gregor turning into a bug really changed his perspectives on life in a bad way. He felt
socially isolated and like an outcast which eventually lead him into a great depression where he
stopped eating and eventually died of starvation. Since society's expectations differ from person to
person, change is inevitable and can be hard to adjust to.

Anxious : My Mother And Mother
Anxious. Anxious was the way I felt when I got the call. Just a couple of months ago I got a call
regarding my mother, she had been in a terrible car accident. My grandfather called me while I was
miles away telling me what happened and how bad her injuries were. I wasn't only upset because
my mom had gotten in this terrifying car wreck. A big part of it was that my mom and I didn't have a
relationship that a daughter and mother should have. We weren't on the best of terms because I didn't
respect most of the choices she made. I had lived a life without my mom for quite a while. As I sat
miles there away while my mom was in emergency surgery all I could think about is what, would
happen if I ever lost her and how bad I would feel if she did die. Even though she hasn't been in my
life she still had a very big part of it and always will. On Good terms or bad terms, she was still my
mother but in the past, I failed to realize that. Some people say it takes something tragic to open

Bet," , as well as Mrs. Mallard from, "The Story of an Hour," as she now wants to be an independent
woman. They all have an event occur to somebody which change their outlook on life forever.
"Through the Tunnel," and "The Story of an Hour," change the main character with the concept of
death. Mrs. Mallard in "The Story of an Hour," loses her husband, while Jerry in, "Through the
Tunnel," almost suffocates to death. While in, "The Bet," the attorney spends fifteen years locked up
to prove a point. Making him realize he wasted time and changing his lifestyle. They all feature the
lact that an event can change how somebody is for the rest of their life, only seen if you look deep
into the meaning of the text.
In the first short story, "Through the Tunnel," written by Doris Lessing, there is a young boy named
Jerry. He has no father figure in his life and his immediate family member is his mother who cares
deeply for him. Jerry meets some boys swimming through a tunnel underwater and is intrigued to
see what is in there. When Jerry is near the point of suffocation, he is ripped out from the tunnel by a
person, saving his life. This experience is what changed Jerry for the remainder of his years. This
can be seen on the last page when the author states, "He rushed to

Analysis Of The Play Metamorphoses
I saw the play Metamorphoses Sunday, October 22nd. Metamorphoses is a play that tells how the
universe can be. In the play, characters are introduced to changes that they have to overcome. In this
essay, I will analyse the audience, design, theme, acting and spectacle of the play.
The audience had a mixed age group of people. I saw a boy that looked about 13, and I saw some
couples that could have been 70 years old or older. A large portion of the audience members were
young adults between the ages of 18 and 25. Almost everyone was dressed in casual clothing like a
t–shirt and jeans; there were a few men I saw in suits, and I remember seeing one woman in a dress.
During the play, the only audience approval I heard was laughter. When Erysichthon ate his foot and
the other girl in the play said bon appetit, the audience laughed. The audience also laughed when
Vertumnus dress as the old lady. There was silence after Alcyone was yelling out for Ceyx after he
left her dream. At the end of the play, the audience applauded. Laughter, silence, and applause
shows that the audience had interactive approval towards the play. The design of the set fit the play
well. The pool was in the center of the stage, so it could be the main focal point; if it was on the far
left or right side of the stage, then it would not have made it seem so important. Above the pool is a
deck and a doorway way with a tree imprinted on it. Some character like Midas and his daughter
entered the stage from here. There were stairs resembling lily pads, to get to the pool from the upper
platform. To the upper right of the pool, was a platform that had a picture of clouds to resemble the
sky. The platform was a designated area for most of the gods to talk at. I liked how the chandelier in
the play was not large. People would have given more attention to a large chandelier changing color
rather than paying attention to something else in the play. The word metamorphoses means change
and the theme of the play revolved around change. Each character had to go through some kind of
change in the story. Midas had to deal with a life without his daughter because he turned her into
gold. Alcyone is changed to a desperate wife longing for her husband's

Climate Change Reflection
After watching the move How To Let Go and Love All The Things Climate Can't Change, my
perception of our world completely changed. With the overwhelming facts to the heartfelt stories
Josh Fox exposes viewers to the damage that is yet to come. This movie was so effective as opposed
to other climate documentaries because Fox explains the human aspects of climate change.
Traveling to twelve countries on six continents he explains how ocean warming, sea level rise, and
air quality are already negatively affecting people in their everyday lives. People don't connect with
facts, people connect with people. This is something I am realizing is critical in getting others on
board with sustainability initiatives and to re think the role we play as consumers. After graduating I
want to work as a sustainability director for a large company. At the start of my sustainability
journey I am discovering that the most essential part of a sustainability director's job is to be
personable. People will be more likely to implement change when they realize how it benefits or
affects them and their organization. Without effective communication, projects will never be funded,
ideas will not be considered, and it is less likely that your impact will be as substantial as it could.
As a sustainability advocate, it will be my job to promote and implement initiatives that will help us
now, but also generations to come will feel those effects. Josh Fox shows it is the grassroot groups
and people stepping up to protect our planet because they know it is necessary. I have developed the
mindset, if not me than who? Out of all ten of the things that climate can't change, I believe that the
most important one is resilience. As sustainability professionals, it is a fact of life that you will be
told no. But the key is moving on from that. You can not get yourself worked up just because things
didn't play out how we want. We can also not let getting told no beat us down, not everyone
understands or wants to understand the environmental catastrophes that are upon us. With this in
mind, we should use getting told no to drive us forward and work even harder on the next project we
have. Resilience stood out to me in the movie when the Samoa tribe

Analysis Of Don Aker's The First Stone
Throughout life people find themselves in tough situations. Situations that change them. In Don
Aker's novel The First Stone, we are taken through Chad Kennedy also known as Reef's journey of
how he went from being a young offender that couldn't have cared much about others to becoming a
person who shows kindness to others. We are shown that by being around certain individuals people
are able to change, people are also able to change from doing certain actions, and people can change
from learning from their mistakes. People can change the way they are as demonstrated by taking
advantage of opportunities provided to them resulting in the ability to make better choices.
The people that individuals spend time with can change the way they behave as they can have them
think differently or feel different emotions. This is shown in the novel when Reef is spending time at
the rehab centre and interacting with the people there. He treats them very differently compared to
the people at the northern hills especially Leeza. "He hadn't been able to get Leeza out of his head,
had lain awake half the night thinking about her." pg 220. Reef is clearly shown to have a change in
thoughts since before he always this "tough guy" but now it shows that he is now starting to care for
others and that benefits him since it allows him to make better choices when it comes to the people
are that close to him. Leeza is also shown to have changed because of Reef."Okay, who stole my

My Pursuit Of Change
In the face of becoming an adult and starting my life, I am constantly questioning what I believe in
and what I am most passionate about. How do I want to live my life? How can I live my life to
benefit myself and others? What will make me the happiest? The answers to those questions
frequently change. A year ago, I thought that graduating in the top of my class would make my life
complete and happy. Today, I feel that my goals have changed completely; I still strive to do the best
I can in school, but I want more out of life. I am the most passionate I have ever been about being
able to change the world. Now the most prominent question I ask myself is, "How do I make change
happen?" Just like Bryan Stevenson, I am unsure about the direction of my life at this point
(Stevenson 1), but I know that I want to inspire change; I want to see change in the way American's
perceive animals, their health, and the environment.
Change can happen in countless ways. Bryan Stevenson chose to fight for his passion first–hand by
challenging the system of injustice. Bryan used his education from law school to bring about change
in the government. Bryan started by challenging local courts for appeals so that he could bring
justice to wrongly convicted prisoners. He began his journey by fighting ... Show more content on

I regard leading by example as a great way to inspire change in others. The issues I want to change
in America cannot be accomplished completely by fighting or challenging the government. People
have to be educated and shown that adjusting the way they live their life will be beneficial.
However, changes in government regulations involving the food industry would benefit my idea of a
changed America. Unlike Stevenson, I do not see myself taking issues to the Supreme Court myself;
I believe that change will happen in the government when the population is open to the tribulations

A New Kind of Dreaming
"Conflicts and challenges cause the characters to change and grow"
Introduction:
Anthony Eaton's a new Kind of Dreaming helps the reader to recognise the various challenges and
conflicts that cause the characters to change and grow. Anthony Eaton best expresses Jamie as an
outsider that is trying to find his place in the world, while uncovering the secrets of Port Barren's
shady past. This changes Jamie from an adolescent delinquent to a responsible and admirable
person. Jaime develops friendships that lead him to trusting and sympathetic qualities that are
unusual for him in his past of crime. Jamie faces a challenge to build a stronger relationship with
Cameron, but this is an obstacle for Cameron as he tries to understand Jamie and ... Show more

Having Cameron in his life changed Jamie and challenged him to become a more preferable person.
Body Paragraph 2:
A challenge that Jamie has to face and overcome is when he tries to have some sense of belonging to
the community of Port Barren. Archie, his guardian throughout the novel, tells him his version of a
dreamtime story called 'The wanderers and the lost ones'. This story challenges Jamie to think
whether he is lost or a wanderer. This makes him feel responsible for finding out who is disturbing
the balance and it is up to him to try and restore it. This is shown to the reader when Jamie thinks,
"It was weird, no beginning, no middle, no end, no plot. And yet he couldn't shake the feeling that
there was something important behind the strange words. He pondered it but couldn't make anything
of it" [page 126]. The story makes Jamie wonder who he is and how he belongs in the community.
This challenges him to think more about himself and what he needs to do to change and become a
better person. This also made him change the way he thought about himself, it made him to thrive to
do the best he can.
Conclusion:
Jamie faces many conflicts and challenges throughout the novel and they all have an effect that
makes him change in character. Jamie's close relationship with Cameron helps him to thrive to be

Who Moved My Cheese Reflection
As the days go by, we notice our world is constantly changing and evolving; for better or for worse.
Many individual cope well with their lives changing, but for others, (like myself), have a harder
time adapting to a new routine. A lot of us enjoy living a life–style that is expected every day,
furthermore, we live happier and comfortably. In 1998, Dr. Spencer Johnson introduced Who Moved
My Cheese, to the world a fable on how to adapt to major chances to one's life and to do so in a
more positive attitude. The book as influenced many people, such as well–respected broadcaster
Charlie Jones of NBC. He admits that Dr. Johnson's book may have saved his carrier. Jones is very
familiar with broadcasting Track and Field events at Olympic games, he then found out that his boss
had removed him from his familiar events and was then assign to broadcast swimming and diving, a
sport he knew very little about. Jones grew doubtful and frustrated with the adjustment of his career.
Like most people, he did that adapt well to change. His anger affected everything thing he did,
including himself, he became very unhappy with his job that he enjoyed doing. Jones then heard Dr.
Johnson's successful and life changing story of Who moved my Cheese. He then altered his attitude
and outlook on his new way of living. He stated that doing something new; out of his old routine
made him feel youthful and refreshed. His boss then recognized his new positive energy and
attitude, and he soon got better, beneficial assignments for work. He became more successful than
ever and was then inducted into Pro Football's Hall of Fame, Broadcaster's alley. This domino effect
can demonstrate how such an impactable book like "Who Move my Cheese" can do to someone.
From difficulties at work, or even struggling in a relationship, the book can open anyone's life to a
new positive beginning. Dr. Johnson is a strong believer that his novel can impact and touch the
lives of countless people. The book is divided into 3 sections. The first section shows a former
classmate reunion, they discuss how much their life has changed out of high school. The second
section is the focus of Who Moved My Cheese? At last, the third section

Personal Experience : My Personal Life Changing Experience
Life. Full of a plethora of experiences, good and bad, which shape who we are and who we want to
be; however, only a certain few of these experiences have an extremely profound effect on even the
most stubborn of us. This can be traumatic events, such as; a family death, assault, or addiction. Just
the same they can be inspirational changes like childbirth, marriage, or high school graduation. My
personal life changing experience comes in the form of a positive educational acceptance into
Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, a specialized school specifically tailored to motorcycle production
and maintenance.
It all started as a harmless request for information from the MMI website that eventually led to a
surprising but welcome phone call from the representative of this acclaimed school. After speaking
for awhile, she arranged a meeting which as you could imagine made me very happy. I have had a
passion for motorcycles and pulling things apart for as long as i can remember. Ask me any question
about a bike or anything mechanical, and it becomes blatantly apparent that this school is the perfect
fit or me. A week passes by and my future is sitting right in front of me, looking straight into my
face explaining everything in minute detail about the amazing hands on skills that this year and a
half course offers. After the meeting adjourned, I filled out the application and BOOM, I was in!
From that point on, my entire outlook on life was forever changed, and everyday I had a reason to
get up, to try and be the best person i could be. This field of work requires passion, a passion that
makes work feel like your love life. You never want to let it go and it doesn't even feel like a boring
9 to 5 office job. If that isn't incentive enough, the skills you learn are universal on all motorcycles
which ensures your job is future proof.
In addition to having the passion, college brings up a certain level of maturity that was once absent
in most adolescents lives. It's a wakeup call that says, "Hey! You aren't a kid anymore son." Rather
than being oblivious, you're forced to realise that you're closer to being an adult than you are to your
past of being a carefree child. That's how it was for me atleast. The usual

What Is The Only Way That We Grow Is If We Change
John Joy Bell once said, "The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can
grow is if we change.". Considering this quote, one can only grow as a person if they make changes
in his life. Personal growth is beautiful, and there are numerous of ways in order to build ourselves
into a better person. It's all about wanting to change, and then taking the action to do so. Change is
not easy, but the amount of positive outcomes that will come out it are tremendous. Everyone is so
used to staying comfortable, when in reality, that is not the best option. Changing the ways that
we've been stuck in for many years is extremely beneficial to our personal growth, and it will
continue to give us positive results. Change is taking on a different challenge that one comes across
in life with the result of a beneficial outcome, such as self growth or a life changing experience.
Change could be compared to the process of getting through difficult times and allowing oneself to
do something different with their life. It is normal for anyone to want to stay on the same path. It
gives a sense of comfort knowing what's going to happen next, which causes individuals to never
venture out or create new experiences. In life there is always something that will come and shake us
all out of our comfort zone. Although it could be frightening for one to leave that comfort zone after
the many years of keeping themselves trapped inside of it, it is necessary to choose a different

Essay on Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried
Tim O'Brien's "The Things They Carried"
How does death affect the behavior of people? Although death affects everyone's behavior
differently, knowledge of one's imminent death is a main force behind behavioral changes. This
knowledge causes emotions that motivate people to act in ways that they normally would not. In
Tim O'Brien's 'The Things They Carried,'; the knowledge of death and its closeness causes the men
in the story to alter their behavior by changing they way they display power, modifying emotions to
relieve guilt, and by exhibiting different actions to ease anxiety.
Death can change how people display their power or how they use their existing power by altering
their behavior. Power is an emotionally strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the story Lieutenant Cross makes both of the changes after the death of Lavender. He changes his
values by acknowledging that Martha was not in love with him and now he would not be in love
with her and he also burnt the pictures and letters so he was not looking at them anymore. The guilt
that they all felt altered how they acted. Some of the men made jokes about tense situations that
were not funny because joking made them feel better. The situation grew lighter by laughter, even
though the men knew nothing was funny about their situation, and this knowledge made them feel
guilty about their insensitive acts because it violated their values. The way the men dealt with their
guilt was by passing the blame or trying not to think about how wrong it was, even though they
knew. These kinds of strange reactions to normally tense or tragic situations are a way to ease the
fear of death.
Anxiety about death follows the men everywhere they go and they have many different ways to
disguise their fear and many ways to defend against it. The men were ready for everything in the
war: they had their radio to call in help, their guns to defend against enemies, and their pride and
dignity to disguise fear. Disguising fear is very hard because it is such a strong emotion. Great fear
is impossible to hide as evident by the actions of the men when they were involved in the intense
fights where they would say 'Dear Jesus and (flop)

Examples Of Tolerance In Freedom Writers
Tolerance in Freedom Writers
In the movie "freedom writers" kids learn to be tolerant and respect others for their color and race. It
shows how these kids from the streets improve and change their perspective on color. The help from
their teacher Ms. Gruwell really inspired and changed them. In their minds everything is about color.
Slowly throughout the movie they change and accept others. In the beginning of the movie Erin
Gruwell the new teacher is joyful and tolerant of everyone. Her husband and she are happy and he
supports her teaching her new class. On the other hand, Eva, a girl who at first had no tolerance for
others and based everything off color had a father who was in jail and lived just with her mother.
Her whole life was dedicated to the gang life that was basically her family. She's not excited about
school and could really care less. In the middle of them movie Erin's husband starts to get annoyed
and insults those kids who are learning tolerance. The kids are doing fine and are really changing
already. Ms. Gruwell has come home late from school and her husband is blaming it on the kids
which leads to his annoyance. In Eva's life she is struggling because she is changing and doesn't
know if she should lie to protect her boyfriend or let the guy falsely accused free. She has so much
guilt because she knows the right thing to do, but since it's her boyfriend and shell get punished by

Argumentative Essay On The Fault In Our Stars
As readers, some might question, what does the title of The Fault In Our Stars actually mean? Since
some might know that John Green adores literature, many may not know but John Green got his title
from William Shakespeare, in his play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. Julius Caesar is John Green's
favorite play. The line from which Green's title idea stems from is "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in
our stars, But in ourselves that we are underlings." (https://www.enotes.com) Meaning that the flaws
and bad things that happen to humans in life are not fate, but actually their own doing. Every
decision changes how your life will turn out, nothing is by accident. Green went another route
stating that the bad things happen on their own but some can still control the outcome. Throughout
the book as readers, some see the main character, Hazel Grace Lancaster, struggle through life with
a negative outlook, battling with depression and cancer, which were the upsetting and unsatisfying
cards which fate dealt her. She went through life upset because life had given her a rough battle.
Nothing she did or could do would have changed the fact that she was sick. That was not her doing,
and she coped with it the only way she knew how, which was with negativity. It wasn't until she
changed her outlook, and started focusing on the positive moments in life that the readers see her
life change. This is where Green's outlook and the title come into play. Once Hazel Grace starts to

My Personal Depression : The Depression Of My Depression
My depression was so bad that there were many times that I would cry in my husband's arms for no
real reason at all. I felt safe there and he would just listen to me and hold me. I wasn't sleeping at
night, my mind was racing, it wouldn't shut down, so I could sleep. I knew I needed help and I saw
my doctor. She already knew about everything with our daughter, told her some things from my

except I was getting some sleep. She doubled my dosage of the Wellbutrin, that made the difference.
Once I was stable with my mental health returning to more normal, the Wellbutrin was lowered to

Life Changing And Changing
"What is life?", a question that many people still try to answer, and many philosophers still scratch
their heads over. While we may not be able to answer this head spinning question, for life is always
changing and evolving, just as that of the qualities and aspects that are involved with the normal,
everyday cycle that is life. For this, we turn to history to see where it all started and how far we have
come as the ever–changing society that makes up our world. The aspects of our life today have not
always been there and were almost completely different than that of the past, both in ancient times
and more recent. With advancements in technology, agriculture and new ways of politics, the very
aspects we have come to know, have changed and are still changing as we know it and will continue
to do so onto the future.
Technology as we know it comes in many forms, whether it be in laptops, cell phones, internet and
the like. Modern technology has helped to change our values whether good or bad, and even helped
to change the way we live. Now a day, people everywhere are always using technology sending
emails, texts, making phone calls and even using video to chat to someone. This advancement was
monumental and life changing, making research for information in certain subjects much easier and
less time consuming. Technology can also be used as a form of entertainment with the more recent
growth of entertainment sites such as Netflix, Hulu and even You Tube, many have come to see

The Dream Collector : Character Analysis
Transformations can either make a novel great or make it so bad that nobody will ever want to read
it again. A transformation, according to the dictionary, is a thorough or dramatic change in form or
appearance. Transformations are key to horror movie or books because those are what keep the
audience on the edge of their seats and trying to guess what will happen next. Most novels have
either the characters or the characters houses change throughout the story (mentality for the
character's, appearance for both house and character, etc) to have an effect of uncertainty and an
uneasy feeling, like when someone goes into a room in a scary movie. For example, in the story
"Where is Here" the house was dulled out after the strangers visit, "the patterned wallpaper seemed
drained of color... Even the robust green of the carpeting looked faded" (Oates 39). The house
changed (transformed) dramatically after the strangers visit, to the mother and father, it was bland
and had no life to it. The stranger had, what seemed like, a terrible childhood, and when he went into
the house, it could have rubbed off onto the mother and father and completely changed their
mentality on the house. In addition, in The Dream Collector, there was a picture of a kid stuck in a
roof with nobody around except for an abandon/washed up ship and it looks like no one is going to
help him or her (picture #1). The kid (from what we can assume) had a good childhood but now his
life changed very drastically and

Why Has Sports Marketing Changed
In my last paper I stated a problem with how marketing, preferably sports marketing has changed
over the years. Why has sports marketing changed? Sports marketing has changed due to the fact
that technology has rapidly changed. Technology will keep changing, I don't think there ever will be
a time when new technology or ideas will come into this world. I think a lot of the older generation
refuse to believe that technology will change. Well look at it now, we have smart phones that tell us

My Best Friend Essay
The last time I saw my best friend was definitely a time I would never forget. It was the best yet
worst day of my life. Yet It taught me that letting go isn't always the best thing, but can change you
as a person. Summer vacation had just started. When school ended, I went away for a week for my
first travel. Nina however, was staying in Moscow, attending a tennis camp for a week. During that
week that we didn't constantly talk to each other, which was just a small glimpse of what the future
had in store for us. Coming back to Moscow from that incredibly long week. I was very eager to see
her once again. Unfortunately, I had to wait a while, because tennis camp only ended a few days
after I came back. The feeling of being in the same place as your best friend but not being able to
see her was torture. Every day that came closer to when I would see her was exciting, yet terrifying
at the same time. I knew that this would be a day that I would definitely not foget. I remember
seeing her, how my heart lifted, hearing her voice again, I was the happiest person. We planned the
whole day. Our first destination was Nebo, a trampoline park. On the way there, with Moscow's
unusual weather, it was pouring. By pouring I mean the cars were swimming. When we got out of
the car we were running around the streets. Drenched in water, as we entered the park. Walking into

The Concept of Change ... and Changing Perspectives
Changing perspectives...Change is a process, a transition or an alteration that affects different
aspects of our life. As a result the forces of change can seriously affect the attitudes, beliefs and

affects can be viewed in all three of the texts that we have studied for the Area of Study. Change is a
part of life and whether or not we like that aftermath of the particular aspect of the change it will
happen, you can put it off and put it off but sooner or later it will happen. Change is also

In John's Case his changing perspective of himself was a negative one.
Change. Such an uncomplicated word, yet so hard to define. The word itself possibly prevents it
from being defined because every person sees change as a different thing, so therefore there are
possibly around 6 billion definitions of change in the world. The song "At Seventeen" by song
writer Janis Ian relates to changing perspectives in her life as a seventeen year old girl. At the start
of the song in verse one she describes a girl at seventeen who thinks she is ugly and doesn't fit in
with the popular group. She wants to have everything that the popular girls have. She soon relishes
that she will never have this social status and she starts to dream up boys that call her up and ask her
to dance. The end of verse two and the beginning of the third verse Janis Ian is reflecting back on
those terrible years when she was seventeen. She was once an ugly outcast who had no social
standing and now all the small town folk look at her and she now exceeds their expectations they
have no love left, they are lonely, and now Janis has everything, she has won the game of life and

Rabbit Proof Fence Character Analysis
Molly and Gerry Leadership create change.
Boaz Yakin's film 'Remember the Titans' and Philips Noice's 'Rabbit Proof Fence', both show the
protagonist's leadership creating change in a number of different ways. Remember The Titans shows
that leaders can create change within people and change their view of other people. Also the plot in
Rabbit Proof Fence explores the ways leaders can help change, and create better futures for those
around them. Also leaders and others can still be successful without changing everyone which was
shown on multiple occasions throughout the film.
Leaders need to be able to create change in people and the way that people view other people if they
want to be successful in what they do. Remember The Titans show that positive leaders are able to
impact the lives of those around them, sometimes without even meaning to do so. This is shown
when Gerry needed to create change around the school as the blacks and white weren't accepting
each other. For instance, Gerry had to create change around the school when the school was having
a fight Gerry needed to stand up and lead by example and shown both races that they need to accept
each other as he broke up the fights and showed them how to accept both races. As also see at camp
where the boys finally started bonding, Gerry opened his eyes and noticed that he needs to bring this
mentally back to town if he wants the town to be successful and the team to win. Gerry was trying to
create change for the

How Popularity May Bring out the Dark Side of Humanity in...
Have you ever thought about what bring popular and bring the kid who runs the school? You know
the kid that everyone likes and wants to hang around with. The one that even if they talk to you like
even if its just saying hello in the hallway and all of a sudden you are popular everyone comes up to
you and wants to know why they talked to you. Well in this story Jake was a nerd at his old school
and he really liked a girl named Didi. She liked him a little but he was a nerd and she would never
of been seen with him. So he transferred schools and started throwing these huge parties and joined
the football team and he became that kid that everyone wanted to be. So in this paper I'm going to
tell you how being that kid can bring out the dark side of a human. On page 42 Didi said, " Jake
used to go to Mckinley! He was my math tutor. If it was not for him I would still be in the tenth
grade." This quote is saying how at jakes old school he was a no one just a math nerd who was tutor
to Didi who he didn't even really remember until on page 43 when they were in a group Didi said
"Remember the time I had a test and we studied by the pool?" Jake changed himself so much to be
the kid that everyone wanted to be he didn't even really remember why he changed in the first place.
He went from being this math tutor to a star football player, changing his look from glasses and
nerdy close to contacts and cool looking close, and he started throwing these huge parties that
everyone wanted to

Mentor Graphics' Evolving Vision

  • 1. Mentor Graphics The vision statement in a business organization is a tool used to give motivation and direction towards which all employees focus. Formed in the early 1980's, Mentor Graphics started with an unarticulated vision to "Build Something That People Will Buy." (Palmer, Dunford, & Akin, 2009). Driven by the need to survive as a business the vision was changed to "Beat Daisy" which later changed to "Six Boxes" then "10X Imperative" and in the early 1990s finally getting back to where they started with "Our current short–, medium–, and long–term vision is to build things people will buy". From the case you learn that Mentor Graphics struggled with finding a company focused vision and some issues they faced were not changing quick enough, too many changes and developing a vision that was not based on the organizations core business purpose. The "Beat Daisy" vision was suitable for the company's situation at the time, but the company struggled to develop another suitable vision afterwards. The visions had no real purpose or meaning and more so reflected the market fads. Because the vision is important to the overall functionality of the organization it should contain present clear values that help define the goals of the organization. In this case the visions were being changed without taking into consideration the focus of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The changes in vision allowed for the survival of the business in the market but skewed the initial objectives of the company which were to build something that people will buy. As a result, the changes weakened the company's vision by veering the focus from the core values and goals of the organization. Lewin's Force Field Analysis Lewin's Force Field Analysis Force Field Analysis is a model which shows a current level of a business in which it is affected by driving forces which are positive and encourages development of a plan and also restraining forces which are negative and hinder the development of a plan. In other words, to ensure that a decision is well made, the positivity of the driving forces has to exceed the negativity of the restraining forces. People start to believe and act in ways that support the new direction. The transition from unfreeze to change does not happen overnight: People take time to embrace the new direction and participate proactively in the change In order to accept the change and contribute to making the change successful, people need to understand how the changes will benefit them. Not everyone will fall in line just because the change is necessary and will benefit the company. This is a common assumption and pitfall that should be avoided. • 6. The Rhetorical Analysis Of Florence Kelley's Speech Florence Kelley was a United States social worker and reformer who fought successfully for child labor laws and improved conditions for working women. Throughout her speech to the Philadelphia Convention of the National American Woman Suffrage Association, she stresses the importance of changing the working conditions that are in place for children. By using child labor as her baseline, Kelley is able to talk about her main point, which is her suggestion for women's rights with the help of repetition, strong word choice, and opposition. Kelley starts off her speech with a bang by constantly repeating herself, which allows the audience to understand how important the points she is trying to get across truly are. For example, on lines 10–12 she states, "Men increase, women increase, youth increase, boy increase..." By using such dramatic repetition, Kelley causes the audience to feel sadness towards the children, since they are being treated like adults at such a young age. Kelley continues her strong usage of repetition throughout the entire story by constantly stating the words "little white girls" should not be doing the type of jobs that adults do. By using more little white girl statements rather than little white boy statements in her speech, Kelley is able to show the problem in child labor, but more importantly the change that is needed for women's rights. Finally, on lines 92–96 she goes onto say, "For the sake of the children, for the Republic in which these children... ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If we don't grow, we aren't really living" Gail Sheehy, suggests that for change to work efficiently we must learn from what has happened in the past. Change can be a positive force, we have the power to change to create world peace, and on the other hand change can be negative. Having to change your lifestyle after being paralysed in a car accident. She undergoes immense change after hearing about Vic's son, recognising that he faces death at such a young age and that his parents face loosing their only child. Gwen needs to apologise for constantly complaining and making a big deal out of every situation. For example the play, in which meg had performed, Gwen was the first to criticise as she quotes "what did u have to do Shakespeare for?" she dragged the conversation, placing her disapproving upon the whole play .Her apologies towards Jim are necessary after Jim asks for his keys at the play, causing Gwen's temper reaches fever pitch, making a scene as she trows her belongings around. • 10. Hard Rock Returns To Prison Poem Analysis The "Hard Rock" was a main inmate in the poem. The name of Hard Rock is based on a hard nut to crack because he was the only one inmate who never submitted and gave a lot of troubles to officers. The Hard Rock was treated really badly and punished as warning to other inmates in the hospital. Why he was treated so badly is because not only he never submitted to officers; there might be that he was a black person. While the Hard Rock was treated badly, other inmates were very submissive to officers because they did not want to be treated in the same way as Hard Rock. He was forced under the strong power in the oppressive community, yet he had the power of perseverance and was very strong; hence, his attitude has not changed through the poem. The Hard Rock was a hero for other inmates because he was very strong, against the authority, and brought hope to other inmates in the poem "Hard Rock Returns to Prison" by Etheridge Knight. The Hard Rock was very strong. Hard Rock was standing every treatment he had, no matter how badly the treatment was; thus, his body was full of scars and welts. His treatment by officers and doctors were inhumane. For instances, he has cut his brain and shot electricity while he was operated by doctors to make him submissive. In addition, there was testing if Hard Rock had changed his attitude and submitted to officers, yet he has not changed. • 12. Graduation Speech Essay Good evening. A couple weeks ago, I was attempting to clean my room when I unearthed an old yearbook from my days in middle school. Rather absentmindedly I opened the book to browse through it. However, before long I became immersed in the memories brought back to life and quickly lost track of time. Over an hour later, I set the book aside and marveled at how much had changed since then. Not only had people changed physically, but they had also changed their friends, habits and behaviors. Furthermore, we have all grown as a result of the changing world around us, a changing world that has witnessed the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, as well as the constant birth of new technologies which make our lives easier. There would now be a different teacher and a different classroom for every subject. Furthermore, there would be no recess in middle school. To me, that was the most frightening aspect of all. However, for all the alarm evoked at the thought of moving from elementary to middle school, there was an undeniable sense of excitement and adventure. We were growing up, we were moving on to the next stage in life, a stage ripe with opportunities for self–growth and discovery. By the same token, the transition from high school was a dichotomy – anticipation for the future and trepidation for the unknown. For some, the change may have been only a slight bump in the road; for others, it may have been a monstrous chasm that needed crossing. No matter the difficulty, we all survived our freshman year. Many people may even have spectacular memories of that first year in high school – I know members of the girls soccer team do. It was the year in which our team won the title of league champions and went on to state. Likewise our seniors who were just on the girls basketball team will have wonderful memories of making it to state for the first time in the history of our school. At times the path to graduation may have seemed never–ending, characterized by unexpected obstacles and barriers. But there were also the many highlights to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Life In The 21st Century The world is changing, and changing fast. Technology, education, health, eating habits, dress – there is hardly anything in life that is not changing, some changes we like, while others create fear and anxiety. Several predictions were made that the world will end in 2012 based on the rollover of the Mayan calendar but all these forecasting were proved to be fictitious. On the contrary we are living in the 21st century, 2025 and the world has changed tremendously in the last 13 years. The world has been transformed by the digital revolution and advances in medicine and human knowledge. The present–day civilization stands on two legs, one is spirituality, and the other is science. Today, I woke up and have a coffee. My eyes got baffled to the digital newspaper headlines and it was written that 'Colonization on Mars has begun'. Then suddenly I remembered my old days when newspapers were printed on papers. Technology has changed every aspect of life. Now people are going to live on Mars and the problem of over–population has been solved. Then I got ready and proceed towards my office. Earlier we have to catch an auto or bus to reach our destination and now the transportation has become so simple that we can travel from one place to another with ease. Being as an engineer in Metro Services I feel proud to work there because it has solved the transportation problem. St. Lucy's Home For Girls Raised By Wolves : Book Analysis In St.Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves Karen Russell conveys a story of how difficult it is to change one way of life to another. She uses alliterations such as "...we puddled up the yellow carpet of newspapers and beds..."(Russell 231). Even though people should learn to adapt because the world is always changing, a person should never be judged based on who they are; for example, the girls in St. Lucy's were forced to change, and despite their changes they were not always kindly judged. Life changes. That is a proven fact. Life is not what it was twenty years ago. • 18. How Change is Important to Grow Essay The area of study: change, has helped me deepened my understanding on the different forms of change and how change can affect people in different way. During my study of Tim Winton's book "The Turning" and Michael Jackson's song "Man in the Mirror ",I have learnt that change is important in order for a person to grow and can take many forms in any aspect of our lives. Tim Winton's Big World has helped me understand a new face of change. The change in the story is about the changing relationship between the narrator and his best friend Biggie and the narrator's own outlook it in life. Winton expresses the idea of their changing relationship through secrecy, loyalty, sacrifice and betrayal and elucidates the principle of relationship by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The imagery of "salt lakes that blaze... in every direction", to demonstrate how the narrator has changed from a person who believes that his future is bleak to a person who opened his mind to new possibilities, which he has gained from his past failures and from his relationship with Biggie. Tim Winton portrayal of changing relationship in "Big World" has helped me understand how the dejection we get from a commensalistic relationship can conclude with a positive perspective on how relationships are a learning curve for change and experience. Change plays an important role in constructing emphasis of one's changing perspective and it has shown how significant one's view is in shaping one's identity and personality that was shown in Tim Winton's "On Her Knees". In "On Her Knees" it show's Vic change of perspective and attitudes towards his mother's principle and work ethic, through his narration in describing his mother without glamour or sugar coating, creating a negative imagery towards his mother. This technique is used to reflect his own candid understanding to his mother's individuality. He can only see the facade of his mother's egotistical behaviour similar to how he sees time and work has taken away her youth. • 20. To Kill a Mockingbird In Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird events and conflicts take place causing changes in characters. Some of the characters that are changed include Mrs. Dubose, Jem, Scout, and even Mr. Arthur Radley. Each of these events has a background to help change the characters. Mrs. Dubose is helped to change her charter in the novel by Jem reading to her, Aunt Alexandra comes to live with Atticus, Jem, and Scout changing Scout's character, and Arthur Radley's character is changed by the event of Jem and Scout being attacked by Bob Ewell. Atticus's son, Jem, finds trouble with Mrs. Dubose; this caused a change in her character. Jem becomes angry with Mrs. Dubose because of her comments about Atticus to him and Scout; out of anger Jem "cut the tops off every camellia bush Mrs. Dubose owned, until the ground was littered with green buds and leaves" (103). When Atticus became aware of Jem's actions he sent him down the street to apologize to Mrs. Dubose for what he had done. As a punishment, Mrs. Dubose asked that Jem to come to her home and read to her every day for a month. As asked Jem did bringing Scout along each day. After a month had went by Jem was asked to continue coming to read to her. Jem was not a fan of the idea but he did not want to disappoint Atticus so he did as he told him. Later, after Mrs. Dubose passes away, Jem is informed of why the reading was important to Mrs. Dubose. She had a morphine addiction and reading to her was helping her to break her habit. Jem ... I knew that their class would like us reading to them and making a story. When we did read with them they loved it and that made me happy. Mrs. Putman said they talked about it all day. The only thing I was worried about was maybe that the person I had to read with would be shy and it would be harder for me to talk to them and ask them the questions for their stories. When I met the person I was reading with, Caden. I didn't have to worry anymore because he had no problem talking with me and answering the questions I asked and even asking me questions back. It made me wonder if anyone in their class had ever wished to be different like the main character Charlie Gordon. My outlook changed after the story because all of the details of how he was changing and starting to understand things made me sad to think that someone would have to go through the surgery and finding out new things that hurt your feelings just to love the way they were when they could stay the same and be happy without changing because really it is the other people who need to change. It is upsetting that people with mental illnesses are underestimated because they're so much more than what you see. Charlie Gordon wanted to be smart so he could understand the things the people around him did. In the end he found out that all the things he finally understood just hurt him. Seeing how Charlie Gordon changed throughout the story was sad because he didn't like the way he was. If Charlie would have had more supportive parents he would be able to accept his condition and not want to change himself. The woman in the factory tells Charlie it was wrong of him to change, I agree because you should like yourself the way you are. I hope that my partner and the other kids in the class know that they don't have to change themselves or be smart just to be happy because everyone is good at something. That was when everything changed. The performer's fingers gracefully flew across the piano, changing rhythm dramatically as the movements passed. The dynamics caused the music to fill up my whole room with harmony. I could almost hear the emotions Clementi so desperately kneaded into the measures. Happiness. Heartbreak. Glee. My previous view on Clementi changed from loath to wonder literally overnight. From then on, I immersed myself in this piece. There's more to the reason behind me choosing my dad as the one I wanted to interview. Besides him having strong opinions, he also in my opinion at least has very compelling arguments for almost any topic you can think of. Many things happened in society in my dad's life that has made him the man he is today. My dad explain to me that the number one event that impacted him as a child the most in society was drugs. With the problems going on with my mom he told me that he went through almost the exact same things with his mother. His mom and, though I am not certain I also believe that his father, both used drugs and during this time period it was the war on drugs, so it was apart of his daily life. The part that he told me impacted him was the fact he had to keep it to himself, which he feels is the reason that to this day he barely opens up to his own family. I was told the thing that he, and most people nowadays, wish that social media and the status obssession were different. When it comes to anything political with my dad he will give you his honest opinion. Some people may do so for the benefit of themselves, which is something that occurs in Taming of the Shrew. Others may change and not even realize which is also something that commonly happens. Change in a person is only a good thing if it is not forced upon them. Taming of the Shrew involves a lot of transformation whether it be someone's personality/attitude or someone in a disguise. Katharine's personality is quickly portrayed in the first act of the play as a mean, disobedient person. Gremio mentions, "To cart her rather. She's too rough for me" (I.i.55). Katharine is constantly rude and unpleasant to everyone around her. No one ever really wants to be near her. • 30. Traditional Roles Of Women And Men When comparing the roles of women and men from the earliest ages in humanity, the roles of men has remained relatively the same for generations, while women's roles have undoubtedly undergone tremendous reforms. The traditional roles of women could be exhibited as early as the Paleolithic age, in the era of hunter–gatherers where women were to stay near their dwellings and gather crops while the men were to go out and hunt animals to feed the family. This notion developed into the traditional roles of men being the protectors and breadwinners of the family and women being the mothers and caretakers which were known up until the mid–1900s, when this outlook began to shift. Correspondingly, the man in the family was also expected to be the head of the household and make all major decisions and handling finances and things as such. This was prevalent in a majority of places globally, with some cultural exceptions such as the Touareg tribe of the Sahara desert. Unlike most Western societies, the Touaregs believed the woman was to be the dominant partner in marriages and in the family, controlled the finances and property, and even allowed women to have multiple partners as well (Patel). Of course, this was unheard of in the West, where female sexuality was seen as taboo at the time and was viewed as a threat to the patriarchal system that was traditionally adorned. Comparatively, the perception of female intelligence prior to the 20th century has been undermined, as women's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A big part of it was that my mom and I didn't have a relationship that a daughter and mother should have. We weren't on the best of terms because I didn't respect most of the choices she made. I had lived a life without my mom for quite a while. As I sat miles there away while my mom was in emergency surgery all I could think about is what, would happen if I ever lost her and how bad I would feel if she did die. • 40. Analysis Of The Play Metamorphoses I saw the play Metamorphoses Sunday, October 22nd. Metamorphoses is a play that tells how the universe can be. In the play, characters are introduced to changes that they have to overcome. In this essay, I will analyse the audience, design, theme, acting and spectacle of the play. The audience had a mixed age group of people. I saw a boy that looked about 13, and I saw some couples that could have been 70 years old or older. A large portion of the audience members were young adults between the ages of 18 and 25. Almost everyone was dressed in casual clothing like a t–shirt and jeans; there were a few men I saw in suits, and I remember seeing one woman in a dress. During the play, the only audience approval I heard was laughter. When Erysichthon ate his foot and the other girl in the play said bon appetit, the audience laughed. The audience also laughed when Vertumnus dress as the old lady. There was silence after Alcyone was yelling out for Ceyx after he left her dream. At the end of the play, the audience applauded. Laughter, silence, and applause shows that the audience had interactive approval towards the play. The design of the set fit the play well. The pool was in the center of the stage, so it could be the main focal point; if it was on the far left or right side of the stage, then it would not have made it seem so important. Above the pool is a deck and a doorway way with a tree imprinted on it. Some character like Midas and his daughter entered the stage from here. There were stairs resembling lily pads, to get to the pool from the upper platform. To the upper right of the pool, was a platform that had a picture of clouds to resemble the sky. The platform was a designated area for most of the gods to talk at. I liked how the chandelier in the play was not large. People would have given more attention to a large chandelier changing color rather than paying attention to something else in the play. The word metamorphoses means change and the theme of the play revolved around change. Each character had to go through some kind of change in the story. Midas had to deal with a life without his daughter because he turned her into gold. Alcyone is changed to a desperate wife longing for her husband's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Climate Change Reflection After watching the move How To Let Go and Love All The Things Climate Can't Change, my perception of our world completely changed. With the overwhelming facts to the heartfelt stories Josh Fox exposes viewers to the damage that is yet to come. This movie was so effective as opposed to other climate documentaries because Fox explains the human aspects of climate change. Traveling to twelve countries on six continents he explains how ocean warming, sea level rise, and air quality are already negatively affecting people in their everyday lives. People don't connect with facts, people connect with people. This is something I am realizing is critical in getting others on board with sustainability initiatives and to re think the role we play as consumers. After graduating I want to work as a sustainability director for a large company. At the start of my sustainability journey I am discovering that the most essential part of a sustainability director's job is to be personable. People will be more likely to implement change when they realize how it benefits or affects them and their organization. Without effective communication, projects will never be funded, ideas will not be considered, and it is less likely that your impact will be as substantial as it could. As a sustainability advocate, it will be my job to promote and implement initiatives that will help us now, but also generations to come will feel those effects. Josh Fox shows it is the grassroot groups and people stepping up to protect our planet because they know it is necessary. I have developed the mindset, if not me than who? Out of all ten of the things that climate can't change, I believe that the most important one is resilience. As sustainability professionals, it is a fact of life that you will be told no. But the key is moving on from that. You can not get yourself worked up just because things didn't play out how we want. We can also not let getting told no beat us down, not everyone understands or wants to understand the environmental catastrophes that are upon us. With this in mind, we should use getting told no to drive us forward and work even harder on the next project we have. Resilience stood out to me in the movie when the Samoa tribe ... In Don Aker's novel The First Stone, we are taken through Chad Kennedy also known as Reef's journey of how he went from being a young offender that couldn't have cared much about others to becoming a person who shows kindness to others. We are shown that by being around certain individuals people are able to change, people are also able to change from doing certain actions, and people can change from learning from their mistakes. People can change the way they are as demonstrated by taking advantage of opportunities provided to them resulting in the ability to make better choices. The people that individuals spend time with can change the way they behave as they can have them think differently or feel different emotions. This is shown in the novel when Reef is spending time at the rehab centre and interacting with the people there. He treats them very differently compared to the people at the northern hills especially Leeza. Many individual cope well with their lives changing, but for others, (like myself), have a harder time adapting to a new routine. A lot of us enjoy living a life–style that is expected every day, furthermore, we live happier and comfortably. In 1998, Dr. Spencer Johnson introduced Who Moved My Cheese, to the world a fable on how to adapt to major chances to one's life and to do so in a more positive attitude. The book as influenced many people, such as well–respected broadcaster Charlie Jones of NBC. He admits that Dr. Johnson's book may have saved his carrier. Jones is very familiar with broadcasting Track and Field events at Olympic games, he then found out that his boss had removed him from his familiar events and was then assign to broadcast swimming and diving, a sport he knew very little about. Jones grew doubtful and frustrated with the adjustment of his career. Like most people, he did that adapt well to change. His anger affected everything thing he did, including himself, he became very unhappy with his job that he enjoyed doing. Jones then heard Dr. Johnson's successful and life changing story of Who moved my Cheese. He then altered his attitude and outlook on his new way of living. He stated that doing something new; out of his old routine made him feel youthful and refreshed. His boss then recognized his new positive energy and attitude, and he soon got better, beneficial assignments for work. He became more successful than ever and was then inducted into Pro Football's Hall of Fame, Broadcaster's alley. This domino effect can demonstrate how such an impactable book like "Who Move my Cheese" can do to someone. From difficulties at work, or even struggling in a relationship, the book can open anyone's life to a new positive beginning. Dr. Johnson is a strong believer that his novel can impact and touch the lives of countless people. The book is divided into 3 sections. The first section shows a former classmate reunion, they discuss how much their life has changed out of high school. The second section is the focus of Who Moved My Cheese? It all started as a harmless request for information from the MMI website that eventually led to a surprising but welcome phone call from the representative of this acclaimed school. After speaking for awhile, she arranged a meeting which as you could imagine made me very happy. I have had a passion for motorcycles and pulling things apart for as long as i can remember. Ask me any question about a bike or anything mechanical, and it becomes blatantly apparent that this school is the perfect fit or me. A week passes by and my future is sitting right in front of me, looking straight into my face explaining everything in minute detail about the amazing hands on skills that this year and a half course offers. After the meeting adjourned, I filled out the application and BOOM, I was in! From that point on, my entire outlook on life was forever changed, and everyday I had a reason to get up, to try and be the best person i could be. This field of work requires passion, a passion that makes work feel like your love life. You never want to let it go and it doesn't even feel like a boring 9 to 5 office job. If that isn't incentive enough, the skills you learn are universal on all motorcycles which ensures your job is future proof. In addition to having the passion, college brings up a certain level of maturity that was once absent in most adolescents lives. It's a wakeup call that says, "Hey! You aren't a kid anymore son." Rather than being oblivious, you're forced to realise that you're closer to being an adult than you are to your past of being a carefree child. That's how it was for me atleast. The usual ... • 54. What Is The Only Way That We Grow Is If We Change John Joy Bell once said, "The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change.". Considering this quote, one can only grow as a person if they make changes in his life. Personal growth is beautiful, and there are numerous of ways in order to build ourselves into a better person. It's all about wanting to change, and then taking the action to do so. Change is not easy, but the amount of positive outcomes that will come out it are tremendous. Everyone is so used to staying comfortable, when in reality, that is not the best option. Changing the ways that we've been stuck in for many years is extremely beneficial to our personal growth, and it will continue to give us positive results. Change is taking on a different challenge that one comes across in life with the result of a beneficial outcome, such as self growth or a life changing experience. Change could be compared to the process of getting through difficult times and allowing oneself to do something different with their life. It is normal for anyone to want to stay on the same path. It gives a sense of comfort knowing what's going to happen next, which causes individuals to never venture out or create new experiences. In life there is always something that will come and shake us all out of our comfort zone. Although it could be frightening for one to leave that comfort zone after the many years of keeping themselves trapped inside of it, it is necessary to choose a different ... • 56. Essay on Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried Tim O'Brien's "The Things They Carried" How does death affect the behavior of people? Although death affects everyone's behavior differently, knowledge of one's imminent death is a main force behind behavioral changes. This knowledge causes emotions that motivate people to act in ways that they normally would not. In Tim O'Brien's 'The Things They Carried,'; the knowledge of death and its closeness causes the men in the story to alter their behavior by changing they way they display power, modifying emotions to relieve guilt, and by exhibiting different actions to ease anxiety. Death can change how people display their power or how they use their existing power by altering their behavior. Power is an emotionally strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the story Lieutenant Cross makes both of the changes after the death of Lavender. He changes his values by acknowledging that Martha was not in love with him and now he would not be in love with her and he also burnt the pictures and letters so he was not looking at them anymore. The guilt that they all felt altered how they acted. Some of the men made jokes about tense situations that were not funny because joking made them feel better. The situation grew lighter by laughter, even though the men knew nothing was funny about their situation, and this knowledge made them feel guilty about their insensitive acts because it violated their values. The way the men dealt with their guilt was by passing the blame or trying not to think about how wrong it was, even though they knew. These kinds of strange reactions to normally tense or tragic situations are a way to ease the fear of death. Anxiety about death follows the men everywhere they go and they have many different ways to disguise their fear and many ways to defend against it. The men were ready for everything in the war: they had their radio to call in help, their guns to defend against enemies, and their pride and dignity to disguise fear. Disguising fear is very hard because it is such a strong emotion. Great fear is impossible to hide as evident by the actions of the men when they were involved in the intense fights where they would say 'Dear Jesus and (flop) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 60. Argumentative Essay On The Fault In Our Stars As readers, some might question, what does the title of The Fault In Our Stars actually mean? Since some might know that John Green adores literature, many may not know but John Green got his title from William Shakespeare, in his play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. Julius Caesar is John Green's favorite play. The line from which Green's title idea stems from is "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, But in ourselves that we are underlings." (https://www.enotes.com) Meaning that the flaws and bad things that happen to humans in life are not fate, but actually their own doing. Every decision changes how your life will turn out, nothing is by accident. Green went another route stating that the bad things happen on their own but some can still control the outcome. Throughout the book as readers, some see the main character, Hazel Grace Lancaster, struggle through life with a negative outlook, battling with depression and cancer, which were the upsetting and unsatisfying cards which fate dealt her. She went through life upset because life had given her a rough battle. Nothing she did or could do would have changed the fact that she was sick. That was not her doing, and she coped with it the only way she knew how, which was with negativity. It wasn't until she changed her outlook, and started focusing on the positive moments in life that the readers see her life change. This is where Green's outlook and the title come into play. Once Hazel Grace starts to think ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

"The Treasure of Lemon Brown" , written by Walter Dean Myers and The Pearl, by John Steinbeck both have the same genres of fiction and the theme of change. The Pearl illustrates a family that lives in poverty and has a chance to be rich, but decides to stay poor for the sake of their family. "The Treasure of Lemon Brown" illustrates a young defiant boy who has an experience that changes his attitude towards his dad. • 64. My Personal Depression : The Depression Of My Depression My depression was so bad that there were many times that I would cry in my husband's arms for no real reason at all. I felt safe there and he would just listen to me and hold me. I wasn't sleeping at night, my mind was racing, it wouldn't shut down, so I could sleep. I knew I needed help and I saw my doctor. She already knew about everything with our daughter, told her some things from my childhood and the things that our daughter's friend had been going through and she agreed that it all probably triggered my depression. I was asked if I wanted to go into counselling and I did not. I felt I talk freely with anyone that I knew about my past and what I had been through, I did not need to discuss it with a stranger. So, medication was prescribed, I was started on 150mg of Wellbutrin daily and Ambien so I could sleep. After two weeks I returned to my doctor and nothing had changed except I was getting some sleep. She doubled my dosage of the Wellbutrin, that made the difference. Once I was stable with my mental health returning to more normal, the Wellbutrin was lowered to 150mg and I no longer needed the Ambien. A couple years later my husband and I both noticed my mood was changing to I started to take the Wellbutrin twice a day again, and soon saw my doctor after that. She was very glad we caught the changes and I had doubled my dosage. She knows I'm very conscious of my own actions and feelings, she knows I never want to feel that horrible again. If I had not ... • 66. Life Changing And Changing "What is life?", a question that many people still try to answer, and many philosophers still scratch their heads over. While we may not be able to answer this head spinning question, for life is always changing and evolving, just as that of the qualities and aspects that are involved with the normal, everyday cycle that is life. For this, we turn to history to see where it all started and how far we have come as the ever–changing society that makes up our world. The aspects of our life today have not always been there and were almost completely different than that of the past, both in ancient times and more recent. With advancements in technology, agriculture and new ways of politics, the very aspects we have come to know, have changed and are still changing as we know it and will continue to do so onto the future. Technology as we know it comes in many forms, whether it be in laptops, cell phones, internet and the like. Modern technology has helped to change our values whether good or bad, and even helped to change the way we live. Now a day, people everywhere are always using technology sending emails, texts, making phone calls and even using video to chat to someone. This advancement was monumental and life changing, making research for information in certain subjects much easier and less time consuming. Technology can also be used as a form of entertainment with the more recent growth of entertainment sites such as Netflix, Hulu and even You Tube, many have come to see ... • 68. The Dream Collector : Character Analysis Transformations can either make a novel great or make it so bad that nobody will ever want to read it again. A transformation, according to the dictionary, is a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance. Transformations are key to horror movie or books because those are what keep the audience on the edge of their seats and trying to guess what will happen next. Most novels have either the characters or the characters houses change throughout the story (mentality for the character's, appearance for both house and character, etc) to have an effect of uncertainty and an uneasy feeling, like when someone goes into a room in a scary movie. For example, in the story "Where is Here" the house was dulled out after the strangers visit, "the patterned wallpaper seemed drained of color... Even the robust green of the carpeting looked faded" (Oates 39). The house changed (transformed) dramatically after the strangers visit, to the mother and father, it was bland and had no life to it. The stranger had, what seemed like, a terrible childhood, and when he went into the house, it could have rubbed off onto the mother and father and completely changed their mentality on the house. In addition, in The Dream Collector, there was a picture of a kid stuck in a roof with nobody around except for an abandon/washed up ship and it looks like no one is going to help him or her (picture #1). The kid (from what we can assume) had a good childhood but now his life changed very drastically and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. Why Has Sports Marketing Changed In my last paper I stated a problem with how marketing, preferably sports marketing has changed over the years. Why has sports marketing changed? Sports marketing has changed due to the fact that technology has rapidly changed. Technology will keep changing, I don't think there ever will be a time when new technology or ideas will come into this world. I think a lot of the older generation refuse to believe that technology will change. Well look at it now, we have smart phones that tell us everything we need to know. People can't go anywhere without technology. You see it everywhere. Technology will be with us no matter how much further we get in the years. • 72. My Best Friend Essay The last time I saw my best friend was definitely a time I would never forget. It was the best yet worst day of my life. Yet It taught me that letting go isn't always the best thing, but can change you as a person. Summer vacation had just started. When school ended, I went away for a week for my first travel. Nina however, was staying in Moscow, attending a tennis camp for a week. During that week that we didn't constantly talk to each other, which was just a small glimpse of what the future had in store for us. Coming back to Moscow from that incredibly long week. I was very eager to see her once again. Unfortunately, I had to wait a while, because tennis camp only ended a few days after I came back. The feeling of being in the same place as your best friend but not being able to see her was torture. Every day that came closer to when I would see her was exciting, yet terrifying at the same time. I knew that this would be a day that I would definitely not foget. I remember seeing her, how my heart lifted, hearing her voice again, I was the happiest person. We planned the whole day. Our first destination was Nebo, a trampoline park. On the way there, with Moscow's unusual weather, it was pouring. By pouring I mean the cars were swimming. When we got out of the car we were running around the streets. Drenched in water, as we entered the park. Walking into the building, seeing the receptionists reaction was hilarious. Mocking their faces of disgust. The whole time the two of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result the forces of change can seriously affect the attitudes, beliefs and behaviors of individuals. The affects of change can have a positive or negative outcome. These affects can be viewed in all three of the texts that we have studied for the Area of Study. Change is a part of life and whether or not we like that aftermath of the particular aspect of the change it will happen, you can put it off and put it off but sooner or later it will happen. The word itself possibly prevents it from being defined because every person sees change as a different thing, so therefore there are possibly around 6 billion definitions of change in the world. The song "At Seventeen" by song writer Janis Ian relates to changing perspectives in her life as a seventeen year old girl. At the start of the song in verse one she describes a girl at seventeen who thinks she is ugly and doesn't fit in with the popular group. She wants to have everything that the popular girls have. She soon relishes that she will never have this social status and she starts to dream up boys that call her up and ask her to dance. The end of verse two and the beginning of the third verse Janis Ian is reflecting back on those terrible years when she was seventeen. She was once an ugly outcast who had no social standing and now all the small town folk look at her and she now exceeds their expectations they have no love left, they are lonely, and now Janis has everything, she has won the game of life and love. The lyrics of "At Seventeen" by Janis Ian are emotional and reflective as opposed to telling a story, Janis is intensely outpouring her inner most personal thoughts and feelings. Boaz Yakin's film 'Remember the Titans' and Philips Noice's 'Rabbit Proof Fence', both show the protagonist's leadership creating change in a number of different ways. Remember The Titans shows that leaders can create change within people and change their view of other people. Also the plot in Rabbit Proof Fence explores the ways leaders can help change, and create better futures for those around them. Also leaders and others can still be successful without changing everyone which was shown on multiple occasions throughout the film. Leaders need to be able to create change in people and the way that people view other people if they want to be successful in what they do. Remember The Titans show that positive leaders are able to impact the lives of those around them, sometimes without even meaning to do so. This is shown when Gerry needed to create change around the school as the blacks and white weren't accepting each other. For instance, Gerry had to create change around the school when the school was having a fight Gerry needed to stand up and lead by example and shown both races that they need to accept each other as he broke up the fights and showed them how to accept both races.
