Nowadays it is like you can say it has become a trend of
bunking lectures…!! On an average 70 to 80 percent of
students don’t attend lectures due to some or the other
reasons.
The basic reason behind not attending class is that
they have a different mindset that just by sitting in the class
they cant explore themselves and find the passion that will
withstand the test of the time..percentage of attendance
totally depend on the course and its instructor….
The following slides would follow the factors
responsible for not attending the lectures.
Quality and clarity of lectures is not upto the
mark..
The reason being that lack of proper knowledge may be a
reason..and the teachers themselves are not passionate
enough to make the student develop interest in the
subject…all interest of the students is dependent on the
manner in which the teacher interacts with the students..!!!
4.25 out of per 5 students don’t attend classes due to this
reason…!!
Deadlines for the other academic work..!!
the students are overloaded with the internals projects
assignments..presentation and other academic work other than
the lectures ..and therefore due to lack of time in completing
their assignments..they miss their important lectures …
The data calculated states that 4.04 out of per 5 students miss
their classes because of this reason..!!
Use of relevant examples..!!
The way of teaching in most of the colleges is through notes and
books..as a result to which student just mug up those notes
during examination instead of gaining some knowlegde of the
topic... The teachers should relate the topic with the real life
applications of the topic being taught…so that relating it to real
life it is easier for the students to build their concepts..The data
calculated states that 3.82 out of per 5 students miss their
classes because of this reason..!!
Lecturer’s ability to entertain or engage ...!!
The teacher should be passionate in their particular subject so
that he is able to develop a keen interest in the subject …
Continuous teaching of a topic makes the students bored
during the class. Therefore a teacher should be able to alure the
maximum no of students itself by switching to different topics
in short intervals…which will be helpful in keeping the students
remain fresh during the entire lecture..not feeling saturated….
The data calculated states that 3.71 out of per 5 students miss
their classes because of this reason..!!
lack of sleep..!!!
Due to the improper scheduling of the time table assignment
and viva dates students work overnight completing their syllabus
for the viva or assignments for submission the next day..
Many a times a situation occur that there is more than one
periodical tests or practicals. Therefore students don’t feel fresh
and are unable to pay proper attention in the class…!!
The data calculated states that 3.49 out of per 5 students miss
their classes because of this reason..!!
Engage in extracurricular activity..!!
Most of the students are engage in co-curricular activities
such as basketball, hockey, badminton etc. and therefore they
need to go for their nationals and tournaments which leads
to loss in their academics . Thus missing lectures.
The data calculated states that 2.82 out of per 5 students miss
their classes because of this reason..!!
SIZE OF CLASS..!!
Due to the vast strength in a class many of the students get
back-benches due to which they are unable to get what is going
in the class completely..inspite of wanting to sit in front they
have no choice and these back benchers are usulally not in the
eye of the lecturer…!!so either the lecturer should be capable
enough to handle a large crowd of students in the class or the
strength per class should be lowered..!!!
The data calculated states that 1.87 out of per 5 students miss
their classes because of this reason..!!
