Saket Singhi proposes a new approach to improve India's National Intervention Council (NIC) registry for percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) procedures by developing a web-based registry system. Currently, the NIC registry lacks standardized data collection, benefits for participating centers, and a centralized clinical database. The new approach would target high-volume centers, provide free software tools for automated data collection, and generate analytical reports to help centers improve quality of care. JVS Group has experience successfully running clinical registries and offers to develop, maintain, and help improve the new NIC registry system.

• No standardize data collection system
• No Benefits for Participating Centers
• Lack of long term policy and planning.
• Lack of centralized clinical database
4. DATA MANAGEMENT IN CATH LAB
• No Standardized Data Collection System
• The Clinical History of Patient is rarely documented for registry
purpose.
• The follow up data are never maintained post PTCA.
• At the time for registry data submission, they do not have any
data in hand.
5. NCDR : A MODEL REGISTRY
NCDR is an Evidence based quality improvement program for
cardiologists for improvement, and excellence in cardiovascular
care.
NCDR provides the solid quality measurement solutions hospital
needs to survive and thrive in today’s competitive health care
marketplace. Participation allows hospital to not only improve—but
also prove—the image their facility presents to the peers, payers,
and patients.
More than 2,200 cardiac centers in USA participate in the NCDR.
6. NCDR : HOW IT WORKS
• Participants having software in their cath-lab, auto transfer their
data to NCDR Server on regular interval. This removes the
double data entry and possibility of mistakes.
• NCDR authorities have right to audit submitted data as and when
required.
• NCDR generates various analytical reports from submitted data
and compares with national outcomes.
• NCDR periodically sends their reports to participating center to
help them understand their practice and improve the quality care.
• NCDR does it all with due privacy of the data.
