1. THEORIES
We will challenge and conform to some of the theories when making our short film.
The first theory we subvert to is the Enigma code we do not open the film with a
puzzle for the audience to work out themselves instead we start the film in a calm,
natural manner. We introduce the babysitter and the mother in the beginning steadily
without any mystified beginning.
Another theory we challenge is the Todorov theory. Instead of following the structure
problem disrupts situation, resolution of the problem we
end the film with a cliff hanger with no resolution because
we want to conform to the conventions of the ending of a
horror film. We wanted the audience to be left at
anticipation and wanting more.
One of the theories we conform to is the Binary
Opposition. We establish who the good and the bad
characters are gradually in the film. The babysitter is the
good character and the evil character is the little girl
however, we find out who the evil character is towards the
very end of the film.
