Taken is a French action thriller film directed by Pierre Morel. The plot of the film consists of
Annie’s father trying to track her down after she is kidnapped by human traffickers who plan to
sell her to Abil, a wealthy Arab bidder.
Throughout the film we see Annie’s father try desperately to find her – he is taken into several
dangerous places while on this journey and many lives are lost.
Similarities between Taken and our film Consent are the themes of kidnap and danger as our
character Grace is also kidnapped like Annie. However, a difference is that our film does not
contain hardly and violence compared to Taken which shows gun fights, torture and death.
Taken is also a certificate 18 compared to our film which is a 12A. We chose to certificate our
film at this age because we feel like the storyline isn’t too traumatising or disturbing for
younger viewers as we film Grace’s kidnap in a tactful way.
