Bricks should have uniform color that is typically deep red, cherry, or copper. They must be uniformly shaped with straight, right-angled edges and be able to withstand weathering forces like heat and rain. Bricks are also prescribed to be a standard size of 19cm x 9cm x 9cm and have a fine, compact internal structure. Additionally, good bricks will produce a clear ringing sound when struck and not be marked by a fingernail.
