Mandatory requirement of Scrap Processing:
Due to the nature of charging system, It is mandatory to process the scrap in scrap yard.
In connection of that, by scrap shearing machine, metallic and non-metallic scrap are
separated, then from metallic scrap only ferrous materials are segregated and resized for
further operation.

Scrap Preheating System:
Scrap preheating chamber of the QEAF heats the scrap to a temperature of 600 °C.
During this process, it removes the paint, rust, moisture and primary impurities present
in the scrap.

QEAF removes unnecessary carbon and phosphorous by oxygen lancing and argon bottom
purging and turning the heated mixture into a homogenized mixture.

26. Why GPH Quantum is Preferable
Clean & Green Factory:
GPH setup specialized design of environmental technologies solution for QEAF & LF dedusting system. This ensures to meet
the need of worldwide steel industry and the fulfillment of the highest quality & environmental demand by the local
authority (DoE).
This system is capable to handle dust in exhaust gas below that the maximum limit (≤200 mg/Nm3) set by the department
of environment (DoE), Bangladesh. Moreover, the dust in exhaust gas also below than the limit (≤50 mg/Nm3) set by the
world bank.
During operation sound generates from the equipment & during material handling. The noise generated by the
equipment’s which is also less than the standard set (≤75 db) by the DoE & world bank (≤85 db).
Gaseous emission like NOx, SOx, CO/CO2 etc. are also within the standard set by the world bank (NOx/SOx is 500 mg/nm3,
CO is 100 mg/Nm3).
GPH is not using ground water for the plant. Besides plant there is a water dam. GPH is doing water harvesting there. The
whole plant water requirements is fulfilled by the harvesting water. Whole process water is recycled with close loop system.
Moreover in GPH factory a lot of landscaping done which makes the plant green.
