Performance Workshop Ideas for Final Dance Piece
1. Performance Workshop – Charisse
Today Adam choreographed a small piece of dance that we can choose to use or not use in
our final piece. After this was choreographed we sat in a circle and brainstormed more ideas
for our final piece and this is what we came up with:
Half and half – half the dance childlike and half the dance based on adults?
Keep a key motif and repeat it throughout the performance (e.g raising your hand)
and the movement/motif could get bigger and more defined throughout.
The whole company can be doing the same dance and one by one we could lose
concentration and leave just one person going full out – like young children do
Everyone in the company plays a role, multi-role could be used so everyone “makes
a difference”
A signifier could be used – like a white teddy – showing innocence and purity
News reader vs Kids TV presenter – could go from teaching children how to use a
compass to a stabbing murder case
“STOP THE MUSIC” – one person could act a staged monologue of going off the rails
White clothes – marked with chalk or dye to show bad memories
All start and finish onstage to show growing up and change
