Saffrone Frost's individual action plan identifies strengths and areas for improvement in their recent dance performance. Their strengths included dynamics in an urban dance medley and fluidity in contemporary dance. Areas for improvement were extension and lift in ballet, releasing tension in jazz, and maintaining turnout. The plan sets targets to address these areas, including strategies like stretching to reduce shoulder tension, practicing turnout and extension, and connecting emotionally to the movement.

Strengths
What did you perform well and why?
1. Dynamics in Urban – I think I performed this well as I changed in each song during the
medley and had a good contrast between soft and hard from Voguing to PYT
2. Fluidity in Contemporary – I performed the contemporary fluidly and didn’t become
robotic when it came to the floor work which I tended to do in rehearsals as it looked like I
was marking it.
3. My placement of my arms in fifth position in ballet were quite strong and in the right place
Areas for improvement
In the boxes below write down 3 areas for improvement based on your own notes
1. Extension and “lift” in ballet – watching the performance back, even though I thought I had
extension in my body I still look quite hunched over so I need to push myself harder to
achieve good body lines and weight distribution
2. Releasing tension in jazz – during the performance I was not as fluid as I should have been
because I was doubting myself and felt a bit robotic doing the moves even though I knew
them
3. Stay in turnout – found myself going into parallel in and out throughout the performance
Targets
(Areas for Improvement)
Strategies
How?
1. Not to hold tension in my shoulders and
upper back
1. Make sure I fully stretch out my upper back
and shoulders to get rid of all the tension so I
don’t tense up. I could do this by firstly
swinging my arms around backwards and
around forward to loosen my arms and roll my
shoulder blades to release tension in my lower
back.
2. Stay in turnout for ballet and keep extension
in my body
2. I just need to practise this over and over
really because I’ve never done it before. And
when it hurts don’t stop because that means
I’m doing it right. To improve extension I just
need to imagine I am being pulled upwards and
stay there with pointed toes.
3. Show a character/emotion when I dance 3. Don’t become so robotic and actually
connect to the movements and use emotion
memory to bring out a character/emotion
when I am performing.
