2. History of Stone Age Ceramics The stone age covered around 2-3 million years ago. The period in which the stone age art came alive was the late upper Paleolithic period of the stone age which originated around 40,000-10,000 years ago.
4. What kinds of art were created during this time? Portable and Stationary art. Portable art was small so it could be portable. Unlike stationary art, it could not moved. Cave Paintings (Left) is an example of Stationary art. These stationary forms of art were non-figurative .
5. Portable art Portable art was smaller art so it could be portable. This art was also figurative, meaning that it actually depicted something recognizable
6. Stationary Art Paints were made from combinations of minerals, ochres, burnt bone meal and charcoal mixed into mediums of water, blood, animal fats and tree saps. These paintings depict experiences the people had, many elements are symbolic rather than realistic.
7. What is the concept? The stone age was a time of human growth. It was the advancement of social organization, food sources, agriculture, cooking, settlement, pottery and all kinds of art.
8. Who? Since it was so long ago no one actually knows who or what people made this art but art and stone age tools have been found in areas like the Modern Awash river, Ethiopia
