2. Rationale
Children will go through different stages in life where they
will need to make independent decisions on their personal
health and wellbeing. To help students make the right
decision for their better future, education on PDHPE is
crucial to achieve it.
Teachers should act as mentors and educate students on
the effects of unhealthy and healthy practices which
include physical, social and emotional development,
interrelationships, safety issues, human sexuality and
value (Board of Studies, 2007).

4. Why study PDHPE?
PDHPE is one of the six key learning areas in NSW primary
curriculum (Board of Studies)
Student should be able to understand growth and
development within families and communities (Board of
Studies, 2007)
To learn to be active participate amongst peers, families
and different communities
To develop values and positive attitude towards personal
health and wellbeing for the future.
