5. What is the path to CE-marking for my product?
- If the product is covered by a harmonised European standard
(ENh), CE-marking is obtained by attesting the conformity of the
product to its ENh.
- For Innovative products or products not covered by ENhs, CE-
marking is obtained based on an ETA.
- An ETA is a harmonised technical specification for a specific product
and specific manufacturer (it is a “tailored” standard for the specific
product).
- ETA is prepared by an authorised EOTA body based on:
- An existing reference document (ETAG or CUAP) applicable to
the product and use.
- A new reference document (CUAP), to be prepared by the EOTA
body which receives the ETA application.
6. Methodology to prepare an ETA + CE marking
