Green Energy for Remote Cambodian Communities
1. Green Energy for Cambodian people
Inspired by ROTO Charger product of IdeaForge
(http://www.ideaforge.co.in), a mechanical device that can charge
up to three mobile phone models by simply hand crank (more
detail at http://rithy4u.net/ithings/?q=node/8), I started to think
about how can we use similar practice to bring sustainable power
to remote area across the country.
The idea is, if people can provide electricity in such a way that
does not need for-huge-profit investors but can sustain itself by
design it is really helpful.
Look at those NGOs, Micro finance institutions and other social
enterprises that work to help huge number of Cambodian at the
most remote area in the country, they are working hard to extend
their support coverage but despite almost national wide mobile
network today they still facing the very basic problem, the
electricity.
Without sustainable electricity support those organizations suffer
productivity lost or some time decided not to operate in that
particular area. Because everyone use technology to conduct
business and if they got no electricity to power their computer, cell
phone and networking components how they can be productive?
Some semi-rural area also facing the same issue because most of
the time, electricity power only provide by private energy provider
which often design for people to watch their evening TV shows
only and that less than 8 hours a day.
I believe if we can discuss this with large number of people in the
country, maybe, someday we can adapt/adopt or invent a
sustainable and green energy for the effected sections as described
earlier.
