Who Am I? What Do I Believe? Essay
Who am I? What do I believe? I've spent the last few years in a bit of a transition. I was raised in a
strong conservative, Christian home, with wonderful parents. I was homeschooled through high
school and I was actively involved in the church. Everyone, including me, thought I would go to
Bible college and become a missionary.
I joined the Marine Corps at 20 years old, then began attending a state college at 23 (if enough
people ask, I blog about what my time in the Marines was like). These last few years have been
formative for me, as I have encountered many people, situations, and struggles I had never
imagined facing in my youth. I had to reevaluate a lot of things, which caused me to spend a lot of
time in a sort of moral limbo, where I wasn't sure where I stood on a lot of things.
Now, I still am exploring some issues, but there are others I am quite certain of. You may disagree
with a lot of the things on my list. Good. This is where my journey has lead me, yours may be
leading you down another path. I share this as much for myself as anyone else. This is me. This is
what I believe:
1: I believe there is a God. I believe it is the God of the Bible. I believe Jesus is his son and the he is
the perfect representation of God the father.
2: I believe that love is the essence of human purpose. To love God first, and to love his people
second.
3: I believe this world is beautiful. Not just the flora and fauna and environment, though that is a big
part of it, but also

Who Am I Am Essay
PASSport Essay #1 The question "who am I"? Can have a lot of individuals thinking about
themselves, including myself because one might not know where to start. It is a very broad
question, but having done the Strengths Finder 2.0 assessment, I realized more in depth what
kind of person I really am based on my top 5 strengths. Who I am as a learner, who I am in my
career and who I am as a person of faith lead me to answering the question above and understanding
more of myself within. First off, who I am as a learner has changed over the past years. At times
before, I wouldn't take certain classes or assignments seriously and have learned my lessons when I
failed. I believe having classmates at the time who weren't as focused as I wanted to be, played a
big role in my lack of understanding in classes. I understood later that if I felt learning was so
important to me, I need to realize that it is my future and I needed to focus on my own. Having
learner in my top 5 strengths defines me very well. Rath (2007) explains that, "The process, more
than the content or the result, is especially exciting for you" (p.133). I believe this defines me as a
learner because I enjoy having books in hand, opening up my notebook to write notes and
learning new ways to understand the class. Regardless if the content is something I have to get in
to or if I don't do well on tests, I enjoy the process of studying and learning more even when I know
I didn't do so well; that is what motivates me. I believe as long as I keep this mindset and
understand that this is my strength, I will continue to grow and further my education as much as
possible. Even though I have failed a few of my last classes, I never let that stop me from
continuing. Knowing that I have "failed" makes me realize I know I can do better and I try my
hardest not to let it get me down. I will not get further if I don't keep trying and as a learner I am a
motivator to myself in my studies. When it comes to who I am in my career, a few of my
strengths shine through more than others. For example, I put everything I have in to my work and
into my career, and looking back at how I've worked in the past compared to now, I see my
strengths restorative and developer.

Who I Am As An Individual
This paper discusses who I am as an individual, through gender, culture, my worldviews and the
difference between me and other people, why Social Work interests me and what 'fit and proper'
means through the Social Workers Registration Board. The word 'culture' can mean many things
to different people over the world, most of us are who we are today because of the different
'cultures' we have been exposed to over the years through, friends, family and community to name
a few. A brief definition of the word 'culture' means 'the total of the inherited ideas, beliefs, values,
and knowledge, which constitute the shared bases of social action' (Culture, 2012). Many of us
would share a belief and/or view on situations based on our culture and what we have been
exposed to. For example, I discovered some of my culture, values and idea through family, but
because I left home at a young age of sixteen, I then learnt different cultures, ideas, beliefs, through
friends, community, work and study. As I became older my culture slowly changed as I married,
changed country and had a family of my own. Therefore, my culture experiences kept changing
with me, for example, my 'study culture', turned into 'primary school and kindy'. Now I am a
mother I try and instil some of that into my children as well as allowing them to create their own
beliefs and values through their own culture, like school and recreational activities. I believe I knew
my gender at a young age, I cannot really say for

Descriptive Essay : Who I Am
Who I am Four blue walls and a quaint window seat make up a room that contains all that defines
me. Upon entering this room one's eyes fall immediately upon four key objects: a surfboard,
Polaroid photos, an open book that is filled with writing in the margin, and a stereo. Each
belonging is a puzzle piece, a part of who I am. When pieced together, Renee Swager is the
resulting image. I keep these items in my room to shed light on who I am. On the first wall lies a
surfboard. The mounted board is cratered and worn from summers spent surfing at Chincoteague
Island, my home away from home. Surfing is my passion. Nothing compares to the serene feeling
of paddling out into the vast ocean and waiting for a set of waves to roll in. It takes...show more

The book will always remain open because I am still making my path and daily look to the book for
inspiration.
Opposite this wall sits a black stereo on a white nightstand. Hundreds of songs of different genres
have been played on this stereo throughout my years in high school. I find that indie rock and jazz
music has caught my attention the most over the years. There is great contrast between these genres.
However both are important to me because they evoke an emotion of happiness in different ways. In
both genres the lyrics are written with purpose and a meaning. Both Nat King Cole and Dan Croll
will share the spotlight on my stereo.
A last glance back when exiting my room would make one think that it contains very little. Yet, I
find that it holds all that I could ever hope for. It is not an abundance of material possessions that
makes me feel complete. Instead, the words of Salinger, the hanging photos of smiling faces, and a
mounted worn down surfboard while Nat King Cole sings "Unforgettable" in the background leave
me feeling most myself.
Young Justice
I was born with a sense of righteousness before I even knew its meaning. If I ever felt that
someone had wronged me or others I sought to make things right no matter what it took. My first
quest for justice began at an early age of seven.
I had always been proud of my mother for having been a nurse. She chose a life of helping others.
Though she was no longer an active nurse

Who Am I?
Who am I? Many people would ask this question to themselves. They would try to internalize the
question and begin to answer based from the things that would grasp into their mind. Some would
start from simple things until they would come to the point thinking of complex things and
everything becomes dubitable as Rene Descartes says in his Universal Methodic Doubt. Answering
the simple question above is not that easy. Though it is not that easy, there is still ananswer. No,
many answers rather. In my own point of view, internalization, experience, points of ponder,
environment, etc. are some factors that would lead a person to be in a critical state of mind, thus
leading him in answering the simple question: Who am I? It...show more content...
My parents are Marissa B. Edullantes and Roseller P. Edullantes. They are very supportive
especially when we talk of our needs and studies. I can see and feel that from the day we were
born, they truly care and love us. I am a woman with dignity living with a purpose. A
tall–thin–curly–short–haired–working–college–student woman who is one of those people existing
by doing the ordinary day–to–day lifestyle. I wake up, eat, go to school, listen to what the teacher
talks about, walk by the hallway of our school, go home, commute, work on my homework, then go
to bed until the cycle continues. I am sitting on a chair now, facing a computer while typing
everything that comes to my mind and pouring them out from what I feel. At this point, I can say I
am my body.
Each one of us desires to reach something in a hurry without striving hard to grab it. As if they are
just taking everything for granted and waiting for that dreams to come to them. How pathetic these
people's life would be if they continue to live a life full of emptiness and with guidance of no one.
How could they answer the simple question if they cannot even help their ownselves? How could
they find a solution to their problem with no Absolute truth?
People experience failures in life. They may be embarrassed in front of many people because they

Who I Am I? Essay
Who am I? It is funny you should ask because I was just asking myself the same question. How
would I define myself In a culture that seems to so easily attach a label to someone or quickly
place people into a category? How would I be able to make you understand my place in the world,
or my relationship to the world that surrounds me? If I want you to understand and see the "real me"
and how I fit into the big picture, I would have to do an immense amount of soul searching. I
would have to choose my ingredients very carefully. First and foremost, I need to gain some insight
for myself into my true identity. Once that is completed, I can begin the dialog that would accurately
describe who I am. Self–perception, that is the key! If a person wants to describe themselves to
someone else, they need to understand who they are. Let me try to paint a picture of who I am in
a way that will hopefully be an accurate picture of the "real me". The following article defines in
certain terms what I believe makes us who we are, and tells a little of the story of who I have
discovered myself to be as I travel along this journey that we call "life".
The Ingredients When describing myself there is a great deal to consider. As a matter of fact, all the
things that make up our identity are very complex and not easily catalogued. The first thing that
comes to mind is that people are a product of their environments. Next, you might say that we are a
combination of the various

Why don't we sit down and have a little peak into my life. Who am I? I'm going to let you in on
my past, who I have become, and what or who I'm planning to be in my future. I don't quite have
myself figured out yet, but I can tell you all about what I do have figured out, and why I am who
I am today. I know what I've done to get to this point and what I'm determined to do later on in life.
So let's settle down and jump into my life for a story all about who I am.
I came along unexpectedly after two older brothers from my mom and one from my dad. Mom
and dad tried for a girl but were soon told my mom could have no more children. I was a pleasant
surprise after the news and June 24, 2002 I was brought into this world. With a bit of an age gap in
between my brothers and I, I had three pains in my butt and also three more people to protect me. I
eventually learned how to fight back to the boys, and from then on the house was even more chaotic
than usual.
I was born with a whole in my ear and had to have three surgeries when I was very young. I don't
remember much of the surgeries but I do remember how excited I was to eat the multiple
popsicles the doctor would give me afterwards, having to wear a very obnoxious head piece for
awhile, and not being able to get my ear wet. Soon after the last surgery, my family took my first
big vacation in Las Vegas. The whole trip was a success, I even turned six on theLas Vegas strip!
This trip was one of my first times starting to

The reason I am who I am is obviously from my origin. My tribe is one of the strongest ethnic
groups in the Arab world. However, I choose to believe the reason I am who I am comes from
nurture. I was always raised and treated in good Muslim household when I was a child, my parents
always insured a healthy and stable life and education that I can have. I studied five years in China,
in an international school in the Fijian province. Those five years had the largest impact on my life
so far. I was living a completely different life, and getting use to a completely different culture. It's
true they're both in the same continent, however they have different lifestyles.
When I was in Saudi Arabia from the period I was born till 10 years old, I was a different person
completely. I was terrible in school work and I was a bully. It was one of the worst experience in my
life, because being a bully is just cruel. When I first moved to china,...show more content...

make you run 50 feet and back in a certain time. And every time you ran 50 feet it would count
one, however the tricky part was that it would shorten the time length for each 50 feet you ran,
and those were called levels. The first time I tried the pacer test I had a score of 19 in 6th grade, but
the last time I had the pacer test in 9th grade I had a score of 100. no one believed my score
including myself. I was also a chairman in the model united nations in my school's conference
which was one of the happiest moments of my life. Overall I had some ups and downs in 9th grade,

Who am I?
I am a tall girl with chestnut hair, forest green eyes and sun–tanned skin. My physique sets me apart
from the 7.4 billion other people on our planet. If, however, I were an identical twin, physical
characteristics alone would not suffice to distinguish between my sister and me. Even though we
would look the same, we would clearly be two different people. Therefore, we can conclude that a
mere description of our physique cannot be considered a universal and comprehensive response to
the question at hand, as it neglects other aspects of our identity.
Our identity – encompassing numerous elements of being, among which: family, profession, culture,
religion, sexuality, personality and emotions – is of unimaginable complexity, such that in a

may be answered by the following statement: I am infinity. This holds true from a bio–mathematical
approach and a socio–cultural perspective, as well as in a metaphorical sense and in relationship to
time. However, an element of concern with this definition is, that as a model answer to all, it would
defeat a sense of uniqueness sought by individuals who try to distinguish themselves from their
surroundings using the aforementioned question. Specifically, if I am infinity, and You are infinity
(in the instance when you define yourself as I am infinity), then language alone cannot highlight the
differences between you and me. Thus, the sheer word infinity would be deemed an insufficient
response to the essay question; unless infinity were to be considered an infinite concept – infinity
accounting for a variety of infinities. It is not within the scope of this essay to discuss whether
infinity is truly an infinite concept; but if we were to assume it were not, we would need to
contemplate whether I am infinity should be refined to the statement I am a part of infinity, to allow
for differentiation among subjects answering the

Have you ever looked back and thought about what truly makes you who you are today? Well I
have and I am a firm believer that sports have shaped me into the man I am today. I am who I am
today because it taught me to preserve through the toughest things in life, it has taught me that
nothing ever comes easy in life, and also it has taught me how to respect people. Sports had changed
my life significantly ever since I was five years old, there has been ups and downs in my life and
I feel like I look back at sports to help me get through these obstacles in life. Sports have helped me
persevere in life because all my life I have been told I was not good enough to make it to the next
to the next level in baseball. It has taught me to work harder than others to better my skills and
outwork the others around me. When I was 11 I was not able to make the Little League All–Star
team because my "skill set" was not good enough, and at that moment I had told myself that I was
going to make that team next year and I would do whatever it takes to be better than the others on
that team. It even helps me in school because when the last two weeks of the semester are coming
up and all I can think about is walking out that door for the next two months of nothing but
sleeping and not stressing over homework anymore. But I know that I need to buckle down and
get off the couch and I look back at how sports have taught me not to be lazy and how to be the
best, so I got off the couch and get to

'Who am I?' Reflection Paper Who am I? This question seems simple, but this is actually a
difficult question for an individual to answer about him/herself. If someone ask me all of the
sudden about who I am, I might take few minutes to think about it because the questions is really
broad. I might answer all these questions about myself about what I think I am. It might be
changing from time to time. In this essay I will describe what I think about myself in various
aspects: Who am I physically? Physically, I am a healthy person with a healthy body and I am also
currently physically active. Besides, I am considered a relatively tall woman in my country, but not
when I came to study in the United States–I become one of the shortest people in class. I have a long
hair, olive skin tone, oval shaped face and brown eyes. Who am I Emotionally? Emotionally, I am
the one who is easy to forgive people for what they did. I am also a person who do not know to
express anger to someone which I think might lead to both negative and positive effects to
relationship with people in general. I also value my family so much where I work hard in school
and college to be better off in life after graduation not only for myself, but foe my family too. Who
am I spiritually? I am really glad because for now I am satisfied with myself and I know myself
well to understand others. I am a Muslim and Islam is my religion. I tend to keep this in mind with
everything that I do in my every day life. Who

Who Am I? Personality
Who am I Everyone in the world grows up asking the same question, who am I? Personality is what
defines this answer to this question. Fortunately, there are people like psychiatrist Carl Jung and
psychologist Howard Gardner who have given insights and the means of finding out how to answer
this age old question. Jung's theory of one's personality is based on four coupled traits that can vary
16 different ways. These 8 traits, extroversion vs. introversion, sensing vs. intuition, thinking vs.
feeling, and judging vs. perceiving, make up the essence of who someone is supposed to be (Jung,
1971), unlike Gardner's' theory of 8 intelligences, language smart, math smart, visual smart, body
smart, music smart, people smart, self–smart and nature smart (Gardner, 2009), replacing one
singular intelligence. Gardner explains these smart components make up a personality. Because of
having these personality insights and building blocks, one can describe their own strengths of
traits, compare similarities or differences with others and explain why these similarities or
differences are important to understand. The first step is to identify my own personality and what
my strengths are. I took Jung's personality test and my results are that I am ISFJ, 47% introvert,
38% sensing, 9% feeling and 25% judging. I do agree with the introvert assessment as I tend to
want to do things on my own. I am the most creative during the middle of the night while I am alone
in my thoughts. I did

I currently enjoy shocking people with my heritage because there is still a stigma about what a

Who I Am Who Am I? Normally I'd say what we've been programmed to say: date of birth,
nationality, height, weight, strengths, weaknesses, goals, etc. But this assignment is different
because you'd like to know who I am on the inside, or what makes me, me. I believe who I am, and
mostly anyone for that matter, depends on 4 things: your environment, people you're around,
decisions you make, and the power of suggestion. These things will "steer" and change the course
of your "life's ship" for better or worse, that's up to you. Growing up in the small town of Belle
Glade, family of 7, in a 2 bedroom apartment was cramped but comfortable. Looking back, I can
see how we struggled, but at the time we never wanted for anything. I never wanted to hear "NO"
so I waited for a yes opportunity to present itself, and I would ask then, and in most cases it
worked in my favor. My father worked while my mom was the housewife. As we grew, both
parents worked and the neighbors would watch over us. Back then they could discipline you,
because it took a village to raise you, unlike today. Being the child of Haitian immigrants was
difficult because of the teasing and taunting. They'd say that "you eat cat" or you have "H.B.O.
(Haitian body odor)." On top of that I have an outie, so that made me an introverted, shy kid and
my mother's one of Jehovah's Witnesses so that excluded me from birthday celebrations and holiday
assignments. I'd either have a separate task or just asked to sit this one

This worst thing is, I don't even know.

While deceptively simple, this question is often one of the hardest for people to answer.
However, the author known as Michel De Montaigne dedicated his life to writing a book filled
from cover to cover with essais in an effort to paint a picture of his honest self. In each essay,
Montaigne attempts to discover himself by laying forth his reactions and ideas concerning various
life experiences and subjects. In doing so, he is able to determine just how much of his "character"
was a result of nature, and how much was a byproduct of society. So, using Montaigne's idea of

Doubtful. There are many ways to help in the search for self–understanding, looking at major life

society or "pop culture," it has become increasingly difficult for the individual to creatively and
uniquely express themselves. This culture is generated by the mass media, consistently traveling
through our nation evolving and shaping the perspectives of our younger generations. With this
constant bombardment of advertisements, images, ideas, and products, it has become increasingly
difficult to distinguish our true selves when popular culture is diverting our attention from real life
problems. Its messages are causing individuals to concoct beliefs that certain things are necessary
to life, when they really hold no true value. This is what is shaping our society today and probably
the biggest barrier we face in our quest for answering the question of who am I? Today's generation
of materialistically motivated minds have been led to believe that material possessions will provide
a pathway to happiness and validation for who they are as people. A survey found

Breath in through your mouth and out through your noise and some might say breath in your

technique that made me who I am today. The reason this technique of mine is so important to

countless occasions, and I believe it is of the utmost importance to identify the people and events
that have created large impacts on my set of beliefs in order to firmly determine those beliefs.
Growing up on Mercer Island, I have often faced a rigid set of expectations presented to me by my
parents and friends, yet I rarely pause to consider the consequences of blindly following these
expectations. For most of my life, I have identified with characters similar to Ophelia. I have
consistently been a rule–follower and have followed the path laid out for me. Up until this point, I
believe the forced direction has positively influenced my life. I have family, friends, and mentors
who love me and care about my well–being. I live a safe and comfortable life, and I am perfectly
willing to ask for help. However, this guidance can also be stifling. As I try to uncover my most
significant beliefs, I have discovered that so much of my personality is based on others that I hardly
know who I am myself.
Next fall, when I arrive at college in Evanston, Illinois, I can count the number of people

Personal Statement: Who Am I?
Who Am I? I was born _name__ on _date__ in _place__. I am a son, brother, uncle, nephew,
cousin, and friend. I was desperately shy as a small child, but grew out of it. My teen years were
happy times sports, friends, summers spent in __place_. It all helped shape me into who I am
today. My interests are many. I have always enjoyed reading about history and follow the history
channel faithfully. I love music. It's been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I find it
calming when life gets rocky. I love my parents, especially my mom. Been in real love twice;
been in "like" more times than I can count. For the most part school is great, but work could be
better. I enjoy writing because I am able to expose my thoughts, emotions and inner feelings it's
therapeutic and helps me discover how I "really" feel. Otherwise, I sometimes struggle to put my
feelings into words. I'm happy most days and enjoy being around those I love. I am a passionate
person healthy and outgoing. In general, I'd classify myself as a good person. I care about causes
and injustice in the world. I recognize the power I have to make a difference. One of the greatest
experiences I've had was during my freshman year of high school. I decided to join Upward Bound,
a Trio program funded by the government to help lower income families prepare for the future and
further their children's education. Participating helped me realize that education is extremely
important and I know why my parents

Essay On Who Am I

  • 1. Who Am I? What Do I Believe? Essay Who am I? What do I believe? I've spent the last few years in a bit of a transition. I was raised in a strong conservative, Christian home, with wonderful parents. I was homeschooled through high school and I was actively involved in the church. Everyone, including me, thought I would go to Bible college and become a missionary. I joined the Marine Corps at 20 years old, then began attending a state college at 23 (if enough people ask, I blog about what my time in the Marines was like). These last few years have been formative for me, as I have encountered many people, situations, and struggles I had never imagined facing in my youth. I had to reevaluate a lot of things, which caused me to spend a lot of time in a sort of moral limbo, where I wasn't sure where I stood on a lot of things. Now, I still am exploring some issues, but there are others I am quite certain of. You may disagree with a lot of the things on my list. Good. This is where my journey has lead me, yours may be leading you down another path. I share this as much for myself as anyone else. This is me. This is what I believe: 1: I believe there is a God. I believe it is the God of the Bible. I believe Jesus is his son and the he is the perfect representation of God the father. 2: I believe that love is the essence of human purpose. To love God first, and to love his people second. 3: I believe this world is beautiful. Not just the flora and fauna and environment, though that is a big part of it, but also Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Who Am I Am Essay PASSport Essay #1 The question "who am I"? Can have a lot of individuals thinking about themselves, including myself because one might not know where to start. It is a very broad question, but having done the Strengths Finder 2.0 assessment, I realized more in depth what kind of person I really am based on my top 5 strengths. Who I am as a learner, who I am in my career and who I am as a person of faith lead me to answering the question above and understanding more of myself within. First off, who I am as a learner has changed over the past years. At times before, I wouldn't take certain classes or assignments seriously and have learned my lessons when I failed. I believe having classmates at the time who weren't as focused as I wanted to be, played a big role in my lack of understanding in classes. I understood later that if I felt learning was so important to me, I need to realize that it is my future and I needed to focus on my own. Having learner in my top 5 strengths defines me very well. Rath (2007) explains that, "The process, more than the content or the result, is especially exciting for you" (p.133). I believe this defines me as a learner because I enjoy having books in hand, opening up my notebook to write notes and learning new ways to understand the class. Regardless if the content is something I have to get in to or if I don't do well on tests, I enjoy the process of studying and learning more even when I know I didn't do so well; that is what motivates me. I believe as long as I keep this mindset and understand that this is my strength, I will continue to grow and further my education as much as possible. Even though I have failed a few of my last classes, I never let that stop me from continuing. Knowing that I have "failed" makes me realize I know I can do better and I try my hardest not to let it get me down. I will not get further if I don't keep trying and as a learner I am a motivator to myself in my studies. When it comes to who I am in my career, a few of my strengths shine through more than others. For example, I put everything I have in to my work and into my career, and looking back at how I've worked in the past compared to now, I see my strengths restorative and developer. • 3. Who I Am As An Individual This paper discusses who I am as an individual, through gender, culture, my worldviews and the difference between me and other people, why Social Work interests me and what 'fit and proper' means through the Social Workers Registration Board. The word 'culture' can mean many things to different people over the world, most of us are who we are today because of the different 'cultures' we have been exposed to over the years through, friends, family and community to name a few. A brief definition of the word 'culture' means 'the total of the inherited ideas, beliefs, values, and knowledge, which constitute the shared bases of social action' (Culture, 2012). Many of us would share a belief and/or view on situations based on our culture and what we have been exposed to. For example, I discovered some of my culture, values and idea through family, but because I left home at a young age of sixteen, I then learnt different cultures, ideas, beliefs, through friends, community, work and study. As I became older my culture slowly changed as I married, changed country and had a family of my own. Therefore, my culture experiences kept changing with me, for example, my 'study culture', turned into 'primary school and kindy'. Now I am a mother I try and instil some of that into my children as well as allowing them to create their own beliefs and values through their own culture, like school and recreational activities. I believe I knew my gender at a young age, I cannot really say for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Descriptive Essay : Who I Am Who I am Four blue walls and a quaint window seat make up a room that contains all that defines me. Upon entering this room one's eyes fall immediately upon four key objects: a surfboard, Polaroid photos, an open book that is filled with writing in the margin, and a stereo. Each belonging is a puzzle piece, a part of who I am. When pieced together, Renee Swager is the resulting image. I keep these items in my room to shed light on who I am. On the first wall lies a surfboard. The mounted board is cratered and worn from summers spent surfing at Chincoteague Island, my home away from home. Surfing is my passion. Nothing compares to the serene feeling of paddling out into the vast ocean and waiting for a set of waves to roll in. It takes...show more content... The book will always remain open because I am still making my path and daily look to the book for inspiration. Opposite this wall sits a black stereo on a white nightstand. Hundreds of songs of different genres have been played on this stereo throughout my years in high school. I find that indie rock and jazz music has caught my attention the most over the years. There is great contrast between these genres. However both are important to me because they evoke an emotion of happiness in different ways. In both genres the lyrics are written with purpose and a meaning. Both Nat King Cole and Dan Croll will share the spotlight on my stereo. A last glance back when exiting my room would make one think that it contains very little. Yet, I find that it holds all that I could ever hope for. It is not an abundance of material possessions that makes me feel complete. Instead, the words of Salinger, the hanging photos of smiling faces, and a mounted worn down surfboard while Nat King Cole sings "Unforgettable" in the background leave me feeling most myself. Young Justice I was born with a sense of righteousness before I even knew its meaning. If I ever felt that someone had wronged me or others I sought to make things right no matter what it took. My first quest for justice began at an early age of seven. I had always been proud of my mother for having been a nurse. She chose a life of helping others. Though she was no longer an active nurse Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Who Am I? Who am I? Many people would ask this question to themselves. They would try to internalize the question and begin to answer based from the things that would grasp into their mind. Some would start from simple things until they would come to the point thinking of complex things and everything becomes dubitable as Rene Descartes says in his Universal Methodic Doubt. Answering the simple question above is not that easy. Though it is not that easy, there is still ananswer. No, many answers rather. In my own point of view, internalization, experience, points of ponder, environment, etc. are some factors that would lead a person to be in a critical state of mind, thus leading him in answering the simple question: Who am I? I can see and feel that from the day we were born, they truly care and love us. I am a woman with dignity living with a purpose. A tall–thin–curly–short–haired–working–college–student woman who is one of those people existing by doing the ordinary day–to–day lifestyle. I wake up, eat, go to school, listen to what the teacher talks about, walk by the hallway of our school, go home, commute, work on my homework, then go to bed until the cycle continues. I am sitting on a chair now, facing a computer while typing everything that comes to my mind and pouring them out from what I feel. At this point, I can say I am my body. Each one of us desires to reach something in a hurry without striving hard to grab it. As if they are just taking everything for granted and waiting for that dreams to come to them. How pathetic these people's life would be if they continue to live a life full of emptiness and with guidance of no one. How could they answer the simple question if they cannot even help their ownselves? How could they find a solution to their problem with no Absolute truth? People experience failures in life. They may be embarrassed in front of many people because they were scolded by their teachers of having done something unreasonable, fresh break–ups with their girlfriends or boyfriends, not passing the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Who I Am I? Essay Who am I? It is funny you should ask because I was just asking myself the same question. How would I define myself In a culture that seems to so easily attach a label to someone or quickly place people into a category? How would I be able to make you understand my place in the world, or my relationship to the world that surrounds me? If I want you to understand and see the "real me" and how I fit into the big picture, I would have to do an immense amount of soul searching. I would have to choose my ingredients very carefully. First and foremost, I need to gain some insight for myself into my true identity. Once that is completed, I can begin the dialog that would accurately describe who I am. Self–perception, that is the key! If a person wants to describe themselves to someone else, they need to understand who they are. Let me try to paint a picture of who I am in a way that will hopefully be an accurate picture of the "real me". The following article defines in certain terms what I believe makes us who we are, and tells a little of the story of who I have discovered myself to be as I travel along this journey that we call "life". The Ingredients When describing myself there is a great deal to consider. As a matter of fact, all the things that make up our identity are very complex and not easily catalogued. The first thing that comes to mind is that people are a product of their environments. Next, you might say that we are a combination of the various Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Who I Am Essay : Who Am I Why don't we sit down and have a little peak into my life. Who am I? I'm going to let you in on my past, who I have become, and what or who I'm planning to be in my future. I don't quite have myself figured out yet, but I can tell you all about what I do have figured out, and why I am who I am today. I know what I've done to get to this point and what I'm determined to do later on in life. So let's settle down and jump into my life for a story all about who I am. I came along unexpectedly after two older brothers from my mom and one from my dad. Mom and dad tried for a girl but were soon told my mom could have no more children. I was a pleasant surprise after the news and June 24, 2002 I was brought into this world. With a bit of an age gap in between my brothers and I, I had three pains in my butt and also three more people to protect me. I eventually learned how to fight back to the boys, and from then on the house was even more chaotic than usual. I was born with a whole in my ear and had to have three surgeries when I was very young. I don't remember much of the surgeries but I do remember how excited I was to eat the multiple popsicles the doctor would give me afterwards, having to wear a very obnoxious head piece for awhile, and not being able to get my ear wet. Soon after the last surgery, my family took my first big vacation in Las Vegas. The whole trip was a success, I even turned six on theLas Vegas strip! This trip was one of my first times starting to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Reflection Paper On Who I Am Reflective essay The reason I am who I am is obviously from my origin. My tribe is one of the strongest ethnic groups in the Arab world. However, I choose to believe the reason I am who I am comes from nurture. I was always raised and treated in good Muslim household when I was a child, my parents always insured a healthy and stable life and education that I can have. I studied five years in China, in an international school in the Fijian province. Those five years had the largest impact on my life so far. I was living a completely different life, and getting use to a completely different culture. It's true they're both in the same continent, however they have different lifestyles. When I was in Saudi Arabia from the period I was born till 10 years old, I was a different person completely. I was terrible in school work and I was a bully. It was one of the worst experience in my life, because being a bully is just cruel. When I first moved to china,...show more content... The reason I tried that, was because 9th grade was my last year in China, so I wanted to live up to the most. I even broke a record in a stamina test in physical education, the test was called "pacer test". which ultimately bases on stamina and the way it measures your ability in stamina was to make you run 50 feet and back in a certain time. And every time you ran 50 feet it would count one, however the tricky part was that it would shorten the time length for each 50 feet you ran, and those were called levels. The first time I tried the pacer test I had a score of 19 in 6th grade, but the last time I had the pacer test in 9th grade I had a score of 100. no one believed my score including myself. I was also a chairman in the model united nations in my school's conference which was one of the happiest moments of my life. Overall I had some ups and downs in 9th grade, however I can easily say it was the best year of my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. A Poem Essay: Who Am I? Who am I? I am a tall girl with chestnut hair, forest green eyes and sun–tanned skin. My physique sets me apart from the 7.4 billion other people on our planet. If, however, I were an identical twin, physical characteristics alone would not suffice to distinguish between my sister and me. Even though we would look the same, we would clearly be two different people. Therefore, we can conclude that a mere description of our physique cannot be considered a universal and comprehensive response to the question at hand, as it neglects other aspects of our identity. Our identity – encompassing numerous elements of being, among which: family, profession, culture, religion, sexuality, personality and emotions – is of unimaginable complexity, such that in a metaphorical sense it may be portrayed as infinite....show more content... may be answered by the following statement: I am infinity. This holds true from a bio–mathematical approach and a socio–cultural perspective, as well as in a metaphorical sense and in relationship to time. However, an element of concern with this definition is, that as a model answer to all, it would defeat a sense of uniqueness sought by individuals who try to distinguish themselves from their surroundings using the aforementioned question. Specifically, if I am infinity, and You are infinity (in the instance when you define yourself as I am infinity), then language alone cannot highlight the differences between you and me. Thus, the sheer word infinity would be deemed an insufficient response to the essay question; unless infinity were to be considered an infinite concept – infinity accounting for a variety of infinities. It is not within the scope of this essay to discuss whether infinity is truly an infinite concept; but if we were to assume it were not, we would need to contemplate whether I am infinity should be refined to the statement I am a part of infinity, to allow for differentiation among subjects answering the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Who Am Who I Am Essay Have you ever looked back and thought about what truly makes you who you are today? Well I have and I am a firm believer that sports have shaped me into the man I am today. I am who I am today because it taught me to preserve through the toughest things in life, it has taught me that nothing ever comes easy in life, and also it has taught me how to respect people. Sports had changed my life significantly ever since I was five years old, there has been ups and downs in my life and I feel like I look back at sports to help me get through these obstacles in life. Sports have helped me persevere in life because all my life I have been told I was not good enough to make it to the next to the next level in baseball. It has taught me to work harder than others to better my skills and outwork the others around me. When I was 11 I was not able to make the Little League All–Star team because my "skill set" was not good enough, and at that moment I had told myself that I was going to make that team next year and I would do whatever it takes to be better than the others on that team. It even helps me in school because when the last two weeks of the semester are coming up and all I can think about is walking out that door for the next two months of nothing but sleeping and not stressing over homework anymore. • 13. Who Am I? Personality Who am I Everyone in the world grows up asking the same question, who am I? Personality is what defines this answer to this question. Fortunately, there are people like psychiatrist Carl Jung and psychologist Howard Gardner who have given insights and the means of finding out how to answer this age old question. Jung's theory of one's personality is based on four coupled traits that can vary 16 different ways. These 8 traits, extroversion vs. introversion, sensing vs. intuition, thinking vs. feeling, and judging vs. perceiving, make up the essence of who someone is supposed to be (Jung, 1971), unlike Gardner's' theory of 8 intelligences, language smart, math smart, visual smart, body smart, music smart, people smart, self–smart and nature smart (Gardner, 2009), replacing one singular intelligence. Gardner explains these smart components make up a personality. Because of having these personality insights and building blocks, one can describe their own strengths of traits, compare similarities or differences with others and explain why these similarities or differences are important to understand. The first step is to identify my own personality and what my strengths are. I took Jung's personality test and my results are that I am ISFJ, 47% introvert, 38% sensing, 9% feeling and 25% judging. I do agree with the introvert assessment as I tend to want to do things on my own. I am the most creative during the middle of the night while I am alone in my thoughts. • 14. Who I Am Essay When I look in the mirror I know whom I am, but society makes it difficult to understand who I am, because I was born to immigrants of Nigerian descent, and I am a first generation American, that term is sometimes used so loosely. By looking at my name they assume that I am from some island, but I am so quick to tell them that "I am Nigerian", there is another statement that normally follows this. "You do not have an accent". I wonder if I had an accent would I be considered Nigerian and not American; then I say that "My parents are Nigerian" and then that changes, so to them I am just associated with the Nigerian culture it does not make me Nigerian, there has been many discussion between my friends who are the same like me confused to...show more content... I currently enjoy shocking people with my heritage because there is still a stigma about what a "Haitian" should look like, sound like, etc. I'd say that because I was such a scared little kid who didn't talk much, my family could do little to support me because they didn't know I was having issues (A. Benjamin, personal communication, Dec 1, 2009). This is saying that if you do not walk, talk, or think like them; then you are not considered to be of that ethnicity. Everyday I am on a constant race to discover who I am as an individual. I am fighting this battle whether I choose to acknowledge it or not. Donald Hernandez has written in his book Children of Immigrants: Health, Adjustment, and Public Assistance; he talks about major key points, but the most important one state "Third, because life chances differ greatly according to race and ethnicity in the United States, and because of the race and ethnic composition of immigrants to this country has shifted markedly during recent decades," (3). That is true trying to be one thing is very hard in USA society has an effect of how you may become as the individual. If I were in another country they would just see as an American and nothing else, but the place that I was born and raised they see me as what my parents are Nigerians. I am not American because my parents are from Nigeria; this has been a very constant thing, because of several definitions of what it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Descriptive Essay On Who I Am Who I Am Who Am I? Normally I'd say what we've been programmed to say: date of birth, nationality, height, weight, strengths, weaknesses, goals, etc. But this assignment is different because you'd like to know who I am on the inside, or what makes me, me. I believe who I am, and mostly anyone for that matter, depends on 4 things: your environment, people you're around, decisions you make, and the power of suggestion. These things will "steer" and change the course of your "life's ship" for better or worse, that's up to you. Growing up in the small town of Belle Glade, family of 7, in a 2 bedroom apartment was cramped but comfortable. Looking back, I can see how we struggled, but at the time we never wanted for anything. I never wanted to hear "NO" so I waited for a yes opportunity to present itself, and I would ask then, and in most cases it worked in my favor. My father worked while my mom was the housewife. As we grew, both parents worked and the neighbors would watch over us. Back then they could discipline you, because it took a village to raise you, unlike today. Being the child of Haitian immigrants was difficult because of the teasing and taunting. They'd say that "you eat cat" or you have "H.B.O. (Haitian body odor)." On top of that I have an outie, so that made me an introverted, shy kid and my mother's one of Jehovah's Witnesses so that excluded me from birthday celebrations and holiday assignments. • 16. Who Am I? Essay Who Am I? Today as I look back at the first paper that I wrote for this class, I see that it is not the type of paper that I usually write. It is not full of big, sophisticated words. Rather it is a paper that does what it is supposed to, explain in simple english my thoughts on the subject. Those thoughts are that today most college kids are whiners and students go to college because it is the norm. I also gave a couple of abstracts to these. I never really took a stand as to which of those pertained to me. But I think that they all do in a sense. In a way I am irresponsible. I leave stuff to the last minute, I cram, and I get a attitude and just say screw it. As for the metaphor part of the first paper, I do feel that I am a parent...show more content... Quite the contrary. It's just like style. At school my approach to work is very different than when I am at my summer job. At school I can slack and still get away with it. But in the summer, if I slack, I get my ass chewed, and possibly fired. Which of these two is more like who I really am? This worst thing is, I don't even know. Who am I? What is the relationship between my self and the self that I portray, if there is a difference? I am I, or am I? What follows is the first to verses of a Queensryche song entitled "I am I." Beating with life you promised life, security, happiness. Unfortunate son cornered, cowering in the pit of circling panes of glass that surround and reveals the ever present it. "It" is my move, my every look, interpreting gestures, informing others what's undercover and lurking beneath my mask of this year's featured model. I this to much? Close your eyes. Care to look inside? I am I. I just finished listening to this song and it gave me insight on my present dilemma. I think that these verse say that on the outside, when he looks into the glass, he doesn't see what he wants to see. So he lifted the mask. But then he rethought this maneuver, do I really want everyone to know who I really am. I think that this pertains to me. The me that writes is not the real me. For me writing is a mask. When I write I hide my true self. But why? Because other people may not like who I really Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Essay on Who Am I? While deceptively simple, this question is often one of the hardest for people to answer. However, the author known as Michel De Montaigne dedicated his life to writing a book filled from cover to cover with essais in an effort to paint a picture of his honest self. In each essay, Montaigne attempts to discover himself by laying forth his reactions and ideas concerning various life experiences and subjects. In doing so, he is able to determine just how much of his "character" was a result of nature, and how much was a byproduct of society. So, using Montaigne's idea of self–examination, is it really possible to truly know who we are? How might we go about figuring it out? And what is it that truly shapes us today? People define...show more content... Doubtful. There are many ways to help in the search for self–understanding, looking at major life experiences, asking yourself difficult questions, following a moral guideline, or just doing whatever it is you want to do. However this is still one of life's great questions and not to mention a highly personal thought so a dynamic, rather than static answer is no surprise. In today's popular culture society or "pop culture," it has become increasingly difficult for the individual to creatively and uniquely express themselves. This culture is generated by the mass media, consistently traveling through our nation evolving and shaping the perspectives of our younger generations. With this constant bombardment of advertisements, images, ideas, and products, it has become increasingly difficult to distinguish our true selves when popular culture is diverting our attention from real life problems. Its messages are causing individuals to concoct beliefs that certain things are necessary to life, when they really hold no true value. This is what is shaping our society today and probably the biggest barrier we face in our quest for answering the question of who am I? Today's generation of materialistically motivated minds have been led to believe that material possessions will provide a pathway to happiness and validation for who they are as people. • 18. Descriptive Essay On Who I Am I Breath in through your mouth and out through your noise and some might say breath in your noise and out through your mouth to keep less germs from coming in but, I had my own technique. Breathing In through my noise and out my noise was my strategy and it worked every single time. This is the technique that gave me my passion, this is the technique that gave me part of my description, this is the technique that gave me part of my identity, and this is the technique that made me who I am today. The reason this technique of mine is so important to who I am is because it is applied to three things in my life that I am most passionate about. Track, marching band, and praise dancing. These three hobbies of mine play a very important role in my life because they all play a part in how I define myself. When I first started running track I was in the 4th grade. I didn't really know much about the sport at the time, I just knew it didn't involve a ball so I was all for it. As the years passed and I went off to middle school, track became very serious for me. I started winning medals for races, I became one of the track team captains, and I even joined a track team outside of school called beast mode because I loved the sport so much. Once I went off to high school people all ways identified me as "that boy that's all ways running". This is when I knew that track was more than just a sport or a hobby for me, it was part of my identification. Every time I stepped on to track Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Essay On Who I Am Today Throughout my senior year, I have had the opportunity to write numerous introspective essays in a feeble attempt to demonstrate to colleges the most important aspects of my personality. As a result, today I have opted to take a different focus. Instead of describing solely who I am, I would like to focus on how I have become who I am today. My beliefs have been shaped and altered on countless occasions, and I believe it is of the utmost importance to identify the people and events that have created large impacts on my set of beliefs in order to firmly determine those beliefs. Growing up on Mercer Island, I have often faced a rigid set of expectations presented to me by my parents and friends, yet I rarely pause to consider the consequences of blindly following these expectations. For most of my life, I have identified with characters similar to Ophelia. I have consistently been a rule–follower and have followed the path laid out for me. Up until this point, I believe the forced direction has positively influenced my life. I have family, friends, and mentors who love me and care about my well–being. I live a safe and comfortable life, and I am perfectly willing to ask for help. However, this guidance can also be stifling. As I try to uncover my most significant beliefs, I have discovered that so much of my personality is based on others that I hardly know who I am myself. Next fall, when I arrive at college in Evanston, Illinois, I can count the number of people Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I find it calming when life gets rocky. I love my parents, especially my mom. Been in real love twice; been in "like" more times than I can count. For the most part school is great, but work could be better. I enjoy writing because I am able to expose my thoughts, emotions and inner feelings it's therapeutic and helps me discover how I "really" feel. Otherwise, I sometimes struggle to put my feelings into words. I'm happy most days and enjoy being around those I love. I am a passionate person healthy and outgoing. In general, I'd classify myself as a good person. I care about causes and injustice in the world. I recognize the power I have to make a difference. One of the greatest experiences I've had was during my freshman year of high school.
