Food Essay : My Favorite Food
Food is the one thing that we cannot live without. Even for those who have developed the
discipline to fast for a specified period, eventually, they must start eating again. We love our food
to the point that recorded in history as being the first sin. Food is something we all enjoy, and
sometimes it shows. Most of the human race eats three to four meals a day, and the selection of
those foods are not a part of the recommended daily allowances. I will share my favorite foods, my
least favorite foods, and the reason I eat the way that I do and what foods I will incorporate for a
balance diet.
For me, my favorite likes are warm–hot rolls. I prefer wheat more than white with lots of butter.
Biscuits with butter and my homemade apple butter or bacon jam. Oh, my it's yummy. I also make
granola bars with some butter smeared on the bottom of the pan. I put the butter on the parchment
paper which is the last step before I place them in the oven for 25 minutes in a low–temperature
oven. Another one of my likes is my butter crГЁme frosting on top of a white or chocolate cake,
and I scoop the frosting off with lays potatoes chips. These are my special treat items that I
occasionally enjoy.
The food that I enjoy the most is Mexican food. Burrito smothered in green chill, Carnitas,
quesadillas, tacos, guacamole, are my favorite picks. With the population of Hispanics being so
large in Colorado my family enjoys eating Mexican food. The Mexican food here in North Carolina

I Am Passionate About Food
Exploratory Essay
A majority of individuals that inhabit this universe were not born with a talent. I, unfortunately was
no exception. I grew up stumbling through different sports teams and art classes. From playing
games of softball to attending pottery classes, nothing really stuck to me. I was beginning to doubt I
would ever find anything I was truly passionate about until recently. I have realized that I am
passionate about food. Not just eating it, but also studying it as it is processed though the body. I
was initially introduced to nutrition through my own poor eating habits. I was on the verge of
becoming obese when visited a Nutritionist. I was very overwhelmed with my diet changes at first,
but then became amazed at how much better I felt mentally and physically. I was so inspired by this
that I decided that becoming a Nutritionist would be something that I want to do for a living. The
quizzes from The College Foundation of North Carolina seemed to support my decisions as well,
making me even more confident to pursue a career doing my passion.
Even though making a decision about what I want to do for the rest of my life is an enormous deal,
I am confident that becoming a nutritionist is the goal in my educational plan. I am an extremely
indecisive individual, but the passion I encompass for living a healthy lifestyle through food is
enough to make me determined to pursue this career. As of right now I am pursuing an Associates in
Arts at Rockingham Community

Essay on Save your Food, Save a Life
Imagine living paycheck to paycheck, never knowing whether you are going to have enough
money to buy enough food to get by. Now imagine not even living paycheck to paycheck, rather
living day by day not knowing which of your family members, friends, or even yourself will make
it to the next day. Countless people in this world face this devastating fear every day of their life
due to their lack of food. This lack of food has been caused by high prices of food and high demand
of food, both of which add to a low availability of food for those who cannot afford the necessities.
Meanwhile, high society throws out good food every day simply because it is unwanted, wasting
all of this food that is still perfectly edible and would be relished...show more content...
While this tactic will save money and keep food from being put into landfills, this will not give
any food to food banks. Instead of encouraging customers to eat more food than they want and
causing these customers to overeat, ultimately leading to an increase in obesity levels, restaurants
should send the food untouched and unwanted by its customers to local homeless shelters and
food banks to help feed the people that really need these nutrients rather than wasting this food.
The same article states, "The members of the society also were asked to consider curtailing this
table d'hote, as a war measure, with separate charges for vegetables and potatoes ("Food Saving
Planned by Restaurant Men", The New York Times)." Once again, this is an example of the efforts
being taken by society to keep the waste level of food low. This effort as well will not help anyone
but the restaurants who are selling this food. The valiant efforts of eating establishments to stop food
waste does not end with just charging extra for side dishes and bread. Restaurants are attempting to
keep food out of the garbage by giving discounts to those who clean their

Food And Drink Essay
How to Eat and Drink Healthily when Travelling Maintaining a healthy diet while travelling is not
the world's easiest thing to do. Not only is your access to food restricted by what is available
around you, but also the temptations to snack and eat junk food are enhanced when you hit the road.
The good news is that eating and drinking healthily isn't impossible – you just need to keep these tips
and tricks in mind the next time you hit the road. Packing healthier options with you The most
obvious way to avoid indulging in bad snacks and drinks is by packing healthier options with you.
If you have healthy food with you, you naturally won't feel the need to spend money and end up
making bad choices. So, instead of being forced to buy a chocolate...show more content...
You don't have to just rely on packed goods in order to stay healthy– it is possible to buy healthy
foods and drinks at your destination and on the road. When shopping at the airport or station
(gas, bus or train), try to consider the above food choices as your go to items. Purchase turkey or
chicken sandwiches, look for nut and fruit mixes with no added chocolate or sugar and skip the
sugary beverages for water. Yogurt can be a great option, especially when soothing an upset
stomach and opt for salads whenever possible. Just remember to have the dressing on the side to
avoid those sneaky calories. Furthermore, check your options beforehand! If you know the route
and especially the stations you'll be stopping by, check out what supermarkets or brands are
available. You can even find discounts from VoucherBin to eat at restaurants across the UK to
ensure you eat healthy and save money. For example, if you are staying at a Premier Inn, browse
their website to see the menu and plan your meals ahead of time. The same works with stations, as
you can generally see the stores available at the station and plan your shopping accordingly. Make

Homemade Food Is The Best Choice
Cooking and eating is always fun, especially homemade food. Food is one of the primary
necessities of humans and also plays a vital role in maintaining good health. People work hard to
eat; it does not matter if it is healthy or not, but healthy eating prevents a variety of health problems.
For some people eating is an option, but for others they live to eat. People enjoy cooking their own
meals; it gives us peace of mind, satisfaction, and a guarantee of cleanliness. Homemade food is
always treated as a privilege, especially with our hectic life schedules. Now a days, people seldom
cook at home and find a good reason to go out and eat. There are many different choices when it
comes to food, but homemade food is the best choice...show more content...
They all love homemade food instead of fast food because they say it is delicious. Talking with
people who cook at home, most stated that they make fresh ingredients at home, like grind and
powder all seasonings and curries, so it gives the best flavor, taste, and smell. According to
British Broad Casting, The World Health Organization recommends greatly reducing the intake
of processed foods, because it is not freshly made and people do not know how long it is been in
the freezer or what all ingredients in it (World). Eating at our own kitchen table allow us to eat
more fresh fruits and vegetables so we can focus on all natural ingredients. Most of the people
who cook at home have their own kitchen garden also, so all the vegetables are fresh and organic.
This gives us a great satisfaction and peace of mind that it is fresh cooked meals from our own
garden to the table. The second reason to eat homemade food is that it helps to improve our health.
Before the wide spread availability of fast food restaurants, people always cooked their meals at
home; because of this, they were healthier and lived longer. There were not so many diseases like
myocardial infarction, diabetes, or hypertension; it is so popular now due to not controlling their diet
or eating out all the time. These disease conditions not only affect our health but it also affects our
economy. Unfortunately, many young adults or their

Food Waste Of Food
A lot of things go to waste in this day and age; almost every country adds to this. There are needs
for people. That is understandable. However, the United States of America is possibly one of the
biggest contributors to waste in this world; this country dissipates a substantial amount of food, uses
an insane amount of water, and utilizes a significant amount of energy. The first of the wasted items
is food; this country allows a lot of food to go to waste. With the amount of people in this nation, a
large amount of food is needed. With all of that food, a sickening amount of it goes to waste.
According to an article from the EPA official website, "Every year in theUnited States,
approximately 31% (133 billion pounds) of the overall food supply is wasted" ("America's Food
Waste Problem"). This enormous quantity of food that goes to waste could be used to feed others.
On a side note, the FAO states that, "food waste creates 3.6 billion tons (3.3 billion metric tons) of
greenhouse gases annually, about 7 percent of the total greenhouse gas emissions worldwide"
("Food Waste"). This wasting of food just diminishes the amount of nourishment in the world,
allowing it to rot in landfills and create harmful gases. Some food that is wasted is just discarded
because of how it looks, though. For example, most people do not want to eat bruised fruit, but it
is completely safe. Furthermore, grocery stores might discard of unappetizing produce, or just let
it go to waste. One might argue that food thrown away is inedible and no one would want to eat
it. However, many things that people think of as waste can be reused and made into different
things. For example, from Research In Context, "Leftover bread can be turned into croutons, while
vegetable trimmings can be cooked into a soup" ("Food Waste"). There is almost always a way to
reuse things instead of wasting them; throwing away things that seem useless away is not the
answer to the problem of wasted food. Similar to wasted food, water is something that is taken for
granted a lot in this society. Most of the people in this country have never been without water, so
they do not ever think about how much they use, or what it would be like without it. For instance, the

Food Insecurity Essay
Food Insecurity Nutrition is important for healthy life. Many people are still hungry around the
world even though there is mass production of food. This is because of unhealthy food
production. In today's world we see many obese people because of high intake of high fat and
cholesterol containing food. It is important to have a healthy diet/ nutritional intake for individuals
to have good foundation for physical and mental health. Now a day's healthy food is getting more
expensive rather than unhealthy food. Poor people are forced to eat unhealthy food, while the rich
can afford to eat whatever the please. Food insecurity is caused by individuals not having healthy

Even in developed country like The United States of America food security is a major problem. In
the article "Association of Household and Community Characteristics with Adult and Child Food
Insecurity among Mexican–Origin Households in Colonias along the Texas–Mexico Border" author
Sharkey et.al supports that over population of Mexicans, living in colonies along the Texas– Mexico
border causes food insecurity. Because of the Overpopulation on the texas–mexico border there is
low availability of healthy food, causing people to eat junk food which lacks of nutritional value,
and has high amount of sugar, fat, cholesterol. Food insecurity causes health issues such as obesity,
diabetes, heart disease, and early mortality among young single mothers. According to author
Christine A. Stevens young single mothers are affected by food insecurity in two ways "first, the
stress of food insecurity can lead to compounding issues of depression for this mother, second, food
choice." Factors that assist these problems are socioeconomic status and the ability to obtain
adequate nutrition. These young single mothers do not have enough money to give nutritional food
to their families. With limited money they do not have a choice for nutritional food and according to
Stevens are forced to buy "inexpensive, high fat, high carbohydrates food" (Stevens 163). In

Food for Thought
Look at almost any health statistic comparing the United States with the rest of the world, and
you'll see that we are disease ridden, overweight, and hyped up on sugar. It doesn't take much time
to realize that our unhealthy habits aren't just a problem for adults, but that the childhood obesity
rates as well as childhood diabetes rates are on the rise. In my opinion, this has a lot to do with what
we are serving in public school cafeterias across the nation. On the website Fed Up you can see
examples of what's being served; grease laden pizza, grey mystery meat sandwiches, and a host of
other barely distinguishable foods. Schools should be a place of nurturing minds, preparing children

Looking back to typical family dinners forty to fifty years ago, usually there's a family sitting
around a table eating together. A common nudge every evening to "Eat your veggies!" wasn't out
of the ordinary. With the invention of preservative packed TV dinners and the family dining table
growing smaller and smaller, as a society, we no longer have that nudge. Jamie Oliver, a celebrity
chef, created a television series called "Food Revolution". In the course of the show, he goes to a
small town in West Virginia and tries to revolutionize what is being served in their schools. Many
of the children shown during the series were overweight, had relatives who had passed away from
diet related illnesses, and some didn't even know what a fresh tomato was. I firmly believe that if
we are going to change how our children are fed, we are going to need to take an interest in how
they are eating. I can remember being in my elementary school cafeteria with probably about a
hundred other children, and having only one lunch room supervisor. I'm sure that the ratio has
probably changed in the last fifteen years, but I've often wondered how different some of the years
that I have personally spent struggling with food issues would have been if an adult had sat down at
the table, taken an

Essay on Organic Foods
Organic Foods
"You are what you eat", or so they say. In today's supermarkets, organic foods are everywhere. Not
only are there organic fruits and vegetables, but there are also organic dairy products, organic meats,
organic convenience foods, organic wine, beer, coffee, tea and even clothes made with organic
cotton. All of these choices have made organic foods the "fastest–growing segment of the grocery
industry." The Organic Trade Association (OTA), in its "Business Facts" fact sheet available at
www.ota.com, cites Natural Foods Merchandiser, a trade magazine, as measuring organic industry
growth at 20 percent or greater for the past nine years. Approximately two percent of the U.S. food

Many of the chemicals used to grow and process food today have greatly expedited the entire food
production process. However, Researchers and Scientists in the past relied solely on the efficiency
aspect of the process with little regard to any long–term health affects potentially resulting from the
intake of such foods, especially with the younger population whose immune system is more prone to
ailment.
One of the main principles of organic farming is the cultivation of products without the use of
harmful chemicals and additives. This use of chemicals, both past and present, has led to "Factory
Farming," a popular term describing the mass quantities of food produced throughout the twentieth
century. The rise of these factory–produced foods caused the decline of small scale and family
owned farms. However, the more recent rise in awareness and waves of environmentalism, organic
farms, small and large are back on top and often benefit local communities, land and especially the
people who farm them (B.Wyland, Personal Communication, 1, March, 2005).
The word Organic itself describes a way of growing food. It's a form of agriculture that arose in the
last century in response to the increasing use of synthetic and often toxic chemicals to grow food.
The National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), a governmental advisory panel to the National
Organic Program, wrote this condensed definition of organic farming in

Descriptive Essay About Food
One of the biggest struggles in my life tends to be food. I love eating, but at the same time, I rather
not eat. I love trying new foods with exotic flavors and unique recipes, but I fear the reaction that
by body will force on me. I have recently been diagnosed with a condition known as dyspepsia. This
essentially means my stomach does not enjoy food as much as my mouth does. With each meal, I
face the possibility of becoming nauseous after eating. As a result, I tend to avoid large portions,
greasy, or overly sweet foods. Although, every now and then, I push my fears of food aside and
fully indulge myself in spectacular meals. Poe's Tavern has been the restaurant in which I break
beyond my fears and gorge on food. Located in Wrightsville beach, Poe's Tavern tends to be one of
my favorite places to eat to feel satisfied after a meal, and fascinated as a literary fanatic throughout
the entire experience. This restaurant has been created in honor of the author and poet, Edgar Allan
Poe. Poe has been credited as the creator of the mystery and horror genera. He tends to be most well
known for his poems and short stories, in which Poe's Tavern glorifies through their restaurant
environment as well as food selection. Poe's Tavern has been a phenomenal restaurant for any
literary enthusiast with an interest in a fascinating environment and adventurous taste pallet. The
creators of Poe's Tavern focused as much on their atmosphere as they did the food when creating

The Quality Of The Food Quality Essay
Recommendation
Besides the taste of the food, service quality would be a vital factor that customers consider when
choosing the restaurant. From our visits to Cora, we found that the food quality is quite outstanding
in terms of freshness of the fruit and taste of the food while the service quality still has opportunity
to advance. Given the fact that the service level is inconsistent among our visits but the average
standard was met, we think that the workforce learning and development should be emphasized to
improve their service quality and cultivate a performance focused culture. Through educating the
workforce about quality management principles and tools, we believe that the workforce service
quality would improve gradually.
Assess Training needs
Assessing training needs should begin with a thorough study of organizational vision. In Cora's case,
the restaurant should evaluate if they have successfully met the mission of offering guests
exceptional quality ingredients and service in a warm, family atmosphere.
Before Cora starts the workforce training at the store level, the management should be fully prepared.
As we mentioned above, the employees had little knowledge of the fruit source, which illustrated that
the management failed to realize the importance of food sources to customers and deliver explicit
knowledge about the business to the employees. To improve the workplace engagement and
empowerment, the owner must effectively communicate the company's vision and

Food Waste Essay
Food Waste Position/Proposal
By Natalie Parisi
An Introduction to the Problem
Food waste is something that affects us all. It happens anywhere food has a presence; the grocery
store, restaurants, in our homes, at schools, on farms, in production and even in transportation. It
affects people everywhere; those living oceans away and those that share our boarders, people living
across America and throughout Utah, businesses and households alike.
Being Aware is a Personal Responsibility
So is the problem food waste itself, or that food is being thrown out when there are alternative
options? Or is it that we just don't stop to consider there is a problem? My concern is that it's not a
priority for most people. In addition, there are...show more content...

Claiming Ownership
In our homes waste caused because we don't pay attention; we are inattentive and ignorant. For some
of us, it just isn't important. (Jones, Dive!)
Wasting food is a bad habit that affects all of society and we continue to implicate ourselves in
the problem. Of the total of food loss that is going on about 40 percent is in the household. Overall a
typical household of four loses about 600 dollars in food a year. (Jones 11)
Like many things, we just don't bother or we don't feel that we have the time. We aren't realizing
how much it affects each of us. Have you ever taken the time to stop and think about it?
Thinking about it, I realize that every day I throw something away that could be saved and eaten
later. When I take the trash out there are a number of food items that don't need to be there. After
we finish dinner I am wiping food off of plates and realizing that I've made too much. Every time I
clean out the fridge there is food going into the garbage because I waited too long to use it.
Whatever the reason, I realize that it does affect me in many ways and it's constantly happening in
my home.
Looking at the Impacts of Food Waste
Food Waste affects our pocket book because we are essentially throwing out money. At the same
time it is impacting us financially it's also playing a huge role in the problems we see happening to
our environment.
The US Environment Protection Agency said, "Generating food waste

Food Culture Essay
Factors Influencing Food Habits and Culture Eating food is essential for all of us, it keep us alive
and also gives us enjoyment at the same time. Food can be defined as any substance that can be
metabolized by an animal to give energy and build tissue. (ilearn) In ancient time, when people feel
hungry, they eat. However, as human history keep developing and evolving, we have a higher
standard on choosing food that we like to eat nowadays. In this paper, we are going to evaluate
factors that are influencing our food habits and food culture. Those factors can be divided into two
main categories, internal factors (individual preference and values) and external factors
(geographical, religion, social, economic and political). Internal...show more content...
Another example would be Chinese like to eat hot pot in winter to keep them warm. In the
northern part of China, there are more spicy dishes than the southern part of China. This is
because eating spicy food will keep people warm. In costal region, there is more seafood than the
inland region. The reason is because it is easier to get fresh seafood in costal region than in the
inland region. Japan is an island surrounded by sea, and that is why eating seafood is famous in
Japan. Some locations are better for growing specific food, for example China have the climate
advantage in growing tea, and France have the advantage in growing wine. Religion is another
external factors influencing food habits and food culture. Different culture has different religion,
different religion has different custom and food is an important part of a religion. Some religion
such as Muslims, consider eating pork as a dirty food, and people should not eat them. Buddhism
do not recommend members to eat meat, because they think that is cruel to kill an animal and that
we should respect them so we should not eat them. Therefore, a lot of Buddhism followers are
vegetarians. Hinduism followers do not eat cow because they think that cows are scarce. People
who believe in a religion will follow the rules of the religion, so this will influence their food habit.
Some religions do not have rules about food, but they have specific food to eat.

My Passion For Food
Pleasure, survival, passion, greed, and enjoyment all link to one thing and that is food. There are
those who are privileged enough to eat food for pleasure, those who eat for survival, and those
who eat because of stress and so much more. Some people have so much passion for food they
make a career out of it; while those who don't just enjoy the gift they create. I, on the other hand,
have a hate–love relationship with food: I eat it when I'm hungry, when I am stressed, and when I'm
sad. At the end, I always end up feeling guilty for eating too much or too little. In fact, there's times
when I think about food more than I should and then again there are times when I don't think about
it at all. Neither of those options are healthy. I try to make good choices by eating veggies, fruits,
and nuts and try to avoid meat. I try to have a plant based diet only, but I still eat meat when I have
no other choice since my parents are the ones who cook. They got to pick what my sister and I
ate unless we were asked if we wanted something in particular. To begin with, my relationship
with food hasn't been great. For one, I am a picky eater, which is one of the reasons why I don't
enjoy meat. Secondly, I used to binge eat, then I would feel guilty about it and would throw it up.
As disgusting as that sounds, my beginning stages of bulimia are a big reason why I decided to

Essay About Cafeteria
A cafeteria is a place wherein you can choose the food you want and buy it. In a cafeteria there is
a big variety of food to choose from. You can eat the food that you bought from the cafeteria or that
you brought from home in the dining area of the cafeteria. I have been studying in FEU Diliman for
two semesters now and I have noticed how the cafeteria is for these two semesters.
As a college student of FEU Diliman, I must say that there should be a lot of changes in the
cafeteria of our school. Our cafeteria should have a larger variety of foods to choose from. The
variety of foods that are in our cafeteria every day is not much and people would opt to buy food
from outside the school instead. They should make more food to sell everyday since there are a lot
of elementary, high school and college students buying food from the cafeteria everyday. The
cafeteria should sell foods that have proper protein and that are nutritious. They should also sell
food that has vegetables because it is healthy for example they could make vegetable stew. Different
types of fruits should also be sold because sometimes the students wants to buy fruits but the

would buy it outside the school instead. Soft drinks are not good to drink because they contain a

Food and Nutrition Essay
Proper nutrition is one of the most essential elements to being healthy and living a long life.
People deal with food every day, and food has been a part of life since the beginning of
civilization. What we eat becomes our diet, and our diet plays a major role in deciding how
healthy we are and how well our body functions. Without proper diet, our body cannot carry out the
functions it needs to perform. Most people have some common knowledge on what is good and
what is bad for the human body to consume. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains are some common
items people think of when they think of healthy foods. However, it is not enough just to know
what foods are good for your body, it is also important to understand why certain foods are...show

These include obesity, diabetes, and several heart conditions. Obesity is the term used for
someone who qualifies as significantly overweight. A BMI (Body Mass Index) records weight in
relation to height. A BMI of 25 is overweight and a BMI of 30 is obese. Obesity is not a disease in
its self but it can lead to different health issues, some fatal. Obesity can be related to eighty
percent of type two diabetes, seventy percent of cardiovascular disease, thirty percent to gall
bladder surgeries, and forty two percent to breast and colon cancer. Unfortunately, obesity rates
in people are rising rapidly. The United States alone had an obesity rate of twenty six percent in
2007. Some cases of obesity are gene related, but most other cases are a result of improper dieting
and exercise among the individual ("Why Is Proper Nutrition Important?", Case Western Reserve
University). Type II diabetes is another major effect from improper diet and nutrition. When
someone is a type II diabetic, their body either produces too little of an amount of insulin, or their
body's cells ignore the insulin. Insulin is important in helping your body use sugar for Kavanaugh 3
energy. When a person consumes food with sugar, the sugar is broken down into glucose. Glucose
is used as an energy source for the body and is transported throughout your blood into the cells by
insulin. Without proper amounts of insulin, your body is unable to use the glucose as

Essay on Food Sustainability
In food service it is important to realize and address hot button issues within the industry to begin to
understand what the target market wants, increase revenue and decrease cost centers. In researching
the increasingly pressing issue of food sustainability in global food service it was discovered that
implementations are initially expensive and require large amounts of dedication but are ultimately
huge factors in increasing brand loyalty and recognition and gaining popularity within the "green"
market segment. It was the goal of this paper to outline specific concerns posed by the issue of food

Additionally, on a socio–cultural level, many consumers feel that restaurants partaking in green
initiatives and operations are doing their part to not only help sustain the earth but also to
conserving natural resources (Hu, Parsa & Self, 2010). "Going green" is not simply a trend in the
food service industry but around the world and in all forms of business. Corporate companies
consider "going green" as a sensible business strategy in building recognition for corporate social
responsibility among consumers concerned with environmental conservation efforts. Lastly,
technological initiatives such as Energy Star appliances (dishwashers, refrigerators, ice machines,
etc.) and faucets that use less water must also be analyzed in their ecological conservation capability
and weighed against their financial costs (University of Notre Dame, 2014).
"Reduce, reuse, and recycle" is a motto that pioneered environmental programs in schools, and public
announcements. This motto also holds true in the food service industry. Following the trend to "go
green" means implementing this motto into restaurant operations. This includes procedural changes
that aim to reduce the amount of resources used, attempting to reuse resources, and recycling those
that cannot be reused. Restaurants can move toward more sustainable food service through the
utilization of

Essay On A Dinner Party
When planning a dinner party, choosing what foods to serve and preparing them is just a small part

enough time ahead and make sure that everything is fresh when the guests arrive. Here are some tips
to have a truly fabulous dinner party:
Base the dinner party on a theme
Choose a theme for the party before getting started with the preparations. While some dinner parties

Have all guests' tastes in food and drinks in mind when elaborating the menu. The vegetarians and
the ones that don't drink alcoholic drinks have to be served properly. Thankfully, there exist many
cocktail recipes to please all people. For a fabulous dinner party go with Martinis and Margaritas
as alcoholic cocktails. For those guests that don't drink alcohol, there are cocktail recipes that don't
have alcohol in their mix, such as Virgin Frozen Margaritas and Moscow Mules. Regarding the
food, the menu must not let the guests go back home hungry. Serve courses of food that don't
necessarily have to be eaten when they are hot and don't forget to add sauces and vinaigrettes to
the menu for people to combine with their food how they like. Don't complicate yourself too much
though. Prepare meals that are familiar to you, don't try new things; in case you fail making a new
recipe, your whole evening will be ruined. Avoid staying in the kitchen too much to prepare the food
also, to not be tired when the party

Persuasive Essay On Food
When we eat food, we consume it with thought of it providing nutritional support. Suddenly it has
become easier to obtain by just driving though a drive thru and ordering meal instead of it being
home–cooking with no thought of where it came from. People believe that the food they eat is
giving them nutritional value but in truth it is only doing more harm than good. While some may
argue that it is ultimately the responsibility of the consumer because no one is forced to eat, but the
main problem it to stop eating a western diet that America has been accustomed to diet or not.
Because of the amount of processed food causing chronic diseases, inflation of the pricing of the
health care industry, and the constant fact that food is readily available without properly knowing
what they're eating, it is not publics fault for obesity it's the food industry fault.
The amount of food we eat has become a dangerously high problem and eventually has caused
severe medical conditions. Michael Pollan, who's named one of Times magazine's top 100 Most
Influential People in 2010 and teaches at the University of California at Berkeley and the writer
of the essay called "Escape from the Western Diet. He states, "People eating a western diet are
prone to a complex of chronic disease that seldom strike people eating more traditional diets" (421).
Pollen's point is that people who eat fatty and junky foods are more likely to catch a chronic disease
such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity,

Essay on Production of Food in the Future
The idea of feeding a population of 9 billion by the year 2050 is daunting. Consider the United
Nations' estimate that 1 billion people in the world today are hungry. The average number of
malnourished people worldwide between 1990and 2006 is 850 million with the high point of
1.023 billion hungry people, reached in the 2008 crises. Before we can determine if we can feed 9
billion people in 2050, is it not a better question to ask: "Have we met the needs of our current
population?" Increases in population growth, higher food prices due to increased demand, and rising
poverty levels both in the US and internationally are all obstacles that need to be controlled.
To begin with, strategies mentioned in "The Future of Food" need to be put to...show more content...
People often ask, "What's going on in the world today that is causing this food production
problem to happen?" The answer remains, the population growth. A few examples of what has
caused food prices to rise so high are: China and India have the largest and quickest growing
populations generating demand for food from around the globe, so impact on prices has been
raising demand from these countries, the Japanese tsunami and earthquake drove up seafood
prices by 6%, and vegetable prices rose 50% month due to crop damage in Australia, Russia, and
South America. If these prices keep rising we will not be able to feed the whole world and we will
still have hungry people in poor countries. Elizabeth Dickinson states, "Poverty is the main problem.
Even when food is abundant, many go hungry because of the lack of income to purchase food"
(146). To cut down the global hunger rate, ten respondents voted that the international community
should promote broader economic growth. In other words, we should produce a wider and vigorous
quantity of growth. Strategies we can use to face all these challenges are genetic engineering,
stress–resistant breeding, and the use of ecosystems in farming.
The Green Revolution, which did not bypass Africa, is another problem facing food production.
Elizabeth Dickinson proclaimed, "It failed because expensive hybrid seeds and fertilizers quickly
degraded soils and impoverished

Essay For Food

  • 1. Food Essay : My Favorite Food Food is the one thing that we cannot live without. Even for those who have developed the discipline to fast for a specified period, eventually, they must start eating again. We love our food to the point that recorded in history as being the first sin. Food is something we all enjoy, and sometimes it shows. Most of the human race eats three to four meals a day, and the selection of those foods are not a part of the recommended daily allowances. I will share my favorite foods, my least favorite foods, and the reason I eat the way that I do and what foods I will incorporate for a balance diet. For me, my favorite likes are warm–hot rolls. I prefer wheat more than white with lots of butter. Biscuits with butter and my homemade apple butter or bacon jam. Oh, my it's yummy. I also make granola bars with some butter smeared on the bottom of the pan. I put the butter on the parchment paper which is the last step before I place them in the oven for 25 minutes in a low–temperature oven. Another one of my likes is my butter crГЁme frosting on top of a white or chocolate cake, and I scoop the frosting off with lays potatoes chips. These are my special treat items that I occasionally enjoy. The food that I enjoy the most is Mexican food. Burrito smothered in green chill, Carnitas, quesadillas, tacos, guacamole, are my favorite picks. With the population of Hispanics being so large in Colorado my family enjoys eating Mexican food. The Mexican food here in North Carolina Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. I Am Passionate About Food Exploratory Essay A majority of individuals that inhabit this universe were not born with a talent. I, unfortunately was no exception. I grew up stumbling through different sports teams and art classes. From playing games of softball to attending pottery classes, nothing really stuck to me. I was beginning to doubt I would ever find anything I was truly passionate about until recently. I have realized that I am passionate about food. Not just eating it, but also studying it as it is processed though the body. I was initially introduced to nutrition through my own poor eating habits. I was on the verge of becoming obese when visited a Nutritionist. I was very overwhelmed with my diet changes at first, but then became amazed at how much better I felt mentally and physically. I was so inspired by this that I decided that becoming a Nutritionist would be something that I want to do for a living. The quizzes from The College Foundation of North Carolina seemed to support my decisions as well, making me even more confident to pursue a career doing my passion. Even though making a decision about what I want to do for the rest of my life is an enormous deal, I am confident that becoming a nutritionist is the goal in my educational plan. I am an extremely indecisive individual, but the passion I encompass for living a healthy lifestyle through food is enough to make me determined to pursue this career. As of right now I am pursuing an Associates in Arts at Rockingham Community Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay on Save your Food, Save a Life Imagine living paycheck to paycheck, never knowing whether you are going to have enough money to buy enough food to get by. Now imagine not even living paycheck to paycheck, rather living day by day not knowing which of your family members, friends, or even yourself will make it to the next day. Countless people in this world face this devastating fear every day of their life due to their lack of food. This lack of food has been caused by high prices of food and high demand of food, both of which add to a low availability of food for those who cannot afford the necessities. Meanwhile, high society throws out good food every day simply because it is unwanted, wasting all of this food that is still perfectly edible and would be relished...show more content... While this tactic will save money and keep food from being put into landfills, this will not give any food to food banks. Instead of encouraging customers to eat more food than they want and causing these customers to overeat, ultimately leading to an increase in obesity levels, restaurants should send the food untouched and unwanted by its customers to local homeless shelters and food banks to help feed the people that really need these nutrients rather than wasting this food. The same article states, "The members of the society also were asked to consider curtailing this table d'hote, as a war measure, with separate charges for vegetables and potatoes ("Food Saving Planned by Restaurant Men", The New York Times)." Once again, this is an example of the efforts being taken by society to keep the waste level of food low. This effort as well will not help anyone but the restaurants who are selling this food. The valiant efforts of eating establishments to stop food waste does not end with just charging extra for side dishes and bread. Restaurants are attempting to keep food out of the garbage by giving discounts to those who clean their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Food And Drink Essay How to Eat and Drink Healthily when Travelling Maintaining a healthy diet while travelling is not the world's easiest thing to do. Not only is your access to food restricted by what is available around you, but also the temptations to snack and eat junk food are enhanced when you hit the road. The good news is that eating and drinking healthily isn't impossible – you just need to keep these tips and tricks in mind the next time you hit the road. Packing healthier options with you The most obvious way to avoid indulging in bad snacks and drinks is by packing healthier options with you. If you have healthy food with you, you naturally won't feel the need to spend money and end up making bad choices. So, instead of being forced to buy a chocolate...show more content... You don't have to just rely on packed goods in order to stay healthy– it is possible to buy healthy foods and drinks at your destination and on the road. When shopping at the airport or station (gas, bus or train), try to consider the above food choices as your go to items. Purchase turkey or chicken sandwiches, look for nut and fruit mixes with no added chocolate or sugar and skip the sugary beverages for water. Yogurt can be a great option, especially when soothing an upset stomach and opt for salads whenever possible. Just remember to have the dressing on the side to avoid those sneaky calories. Furthermore, check your options beforehand! If you know the route and especially the stations you'll be stopping by, check out what supermarkets or brands are available. You can even find discounts from VoucherBin to eat at restaurants across the UK to ensure you eat healthy and save money. For example, if you are staying at a Premier Inn, browse their website to see the menu and plan your meals ahead of time. The same works with stations, as you can generally see the stores available at the station and plan your shopping accordingly. Make smarter Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Homemade Food Is The Best Choice Cooking and eating is always fun, especially homemade food. Food is one of the primary necessities of humans and also plays a vital role in maintaining good health. People work hard to eat; it does not matter if it is healthy or not, but healthy eating prevents a variety of health problems. For some people eating is an option, but for others they live to eat. People enjoy cooking their own meals; it gives us peace of mind, satisfaction, and a guarantee of cleanliness. Homemade food is always treated as a privilege, especially with our hectic life schedules. Now a days, people seldom cook at home and find a good reason to go out and eat. There are many different choices when it comes to food, but homemade food is the best choice...show more content... They all love homemade food instead of fast food because they say it is delicious. Talking with people who cook at home, most stated that they make fresh ingredients at home, like grind and powder all seasonings and curries, so it gives the best flavor, taste, and smell. According to British Broad Casting, The World Health Organization recommends greatly reducing the intake of processed foods, because it is not freshly made and people do not know how long it is been in the freezer or what all ingredients in it (World). Eating at our own kitchen table allow us to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables so we can focus on all natural ingredients. Most of the people who cook at home have their own kitchen garden also, so all the vegetables are fresh and organic. This gives us a great satisfaction and peace of mind that it is fresh cooked meals from our own garden to the table. The second reason to eat homemade food is that it helps to improve our health. Before the wide spread availability of fast food restaurants, people always cooked their meals at home; because of this, they were healthier and lived longer. There were not so many diseases like myocardial infarction, diabetes, or hypertension; it is so popular now due to not controlling their diet or eating out all the time. These disease conditions not only affect our health but it also affects our economy. Unfortunately, many young adults or their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Food Waste Of Food A lot of things go to waste in this day and age; almost every country adds to this. There are needs for people. That is understandable. However, the United States of America is possibly one of the biggest contributors to waste in this world; this country dissipates a substantial amount of food, uses an insane amount of water, and utilizes a significant amount of energy. The first of the wasted items is food; this country allows a lot of food to go to waste. With the amount of people in this nation, a large amount of food is needed. With all of that food, a sickening amount of it goes to waste. According to an article from the EPA official website, "Every year in theUnited States, approximately 31% (133 billion pounds) of the overall food supply is wasted" ("America's Food Waste Problem"). This enormous quantity of food that goes to waste could be used to feed others. On a side note, the FAO states that, "food waste creates 3.6 billion tons (3.3 billion metric tons) of greenhouse gases annually, about 7 percent of the total greenhouse gas emissions worldwide" ("Food Waste"). This wasting of food just diminishes the amount of nourishment in the world, allowing it to rot in landfills and create harmful gases. Some food that is wasted is just discarded because of how it looks, though. For example, most people do not want to eat bruised fruit, but it is completely safe. Furthermore, grocery stores might discard of unappetizing produce, or just let it go to waste. One might argue that food thrown away is inedible and no one would want to eat it. However, many things that people think of as waste can be reused and made into different things. For example, from Research In Context, "Leftover bread can be turned into croutons, while vegetable trimmings can be cooked into a soup" ("Food Waste"). There is almost always a way to reuse things instead of wasting them; throwing away things that seem useless away is not the answer to the problem of wasted food. Similar to wasted food, water is something that is taken for granted a lot in this society. Most of the people in this country have never been without water, so they do not ever think about how much they use, or what it would be like without it. For instance, the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Food Insecurity Essay Food Insecurity Nutrition is important for healthy life. Many people are still hungry around the world even though there is mass production of food. This is because of unhealthy food production. In today's world we see many obese people because of high intake of high fat and cholesterol containing food. It is important to have a healthy diet/ nutritional intake for individuals to have good foundation for physical and mental health. Now a day's healthy food is getting more expensive rather than unhealthy food. Poor people are forced to eat unhealthy food, while the rich can afford to eat whatever the please. Food insecurity is caused by individuals not having healthy food for their families due to their low income or political and...show more content... Even in developed country like The United States of America food security is a major problem. In the article "Association of Household and Community Characteristics with Adult and Child Food Insecurity among Mexican–Origin Households in Colonias along the Texas–Mexico Border" author Sharkey et.al supports that over population of Mexicans, living in colonies along the Texas– Mexico border causes food insecurity. Because of the Overpopulation on the texas–mexico border there is low availability of healthy food, causing people to eat junk food which lacks of nutritional value, and has high amount of sugar, fat, cholesterol. Food insecurity causes health issues such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and early mortality among young single mothers. According to author Christine A. Stevens young single mothers are affected by food insecurity in two ways "first, the stress of food insecurity can lead to compounding issues of depression for this mother, second, food choice." Factors that assist these problems are socioeconomic status and the ability to obtain adequate nutrition. These young single mothers do not have enough money to give nutritional food to their families. With limited money they do not have a choice for nutritional food and according to Stevens are forced to buy "inexpensive, high fat, high carbohydrates food" (Stevens 163). • 8. Food for Thought Essay Food for Thought Look at almost any health statistic comparing the United States with the rest of the world, and you'll see that we are disease ridden, overweight, and hyped up on sugar. It doesn't take much time to realize that our unhealthy habits aren't just a problem for adults, but that the childhood obesity rates as well as childhood diabetes rates are on the rise. In my opinion, this has a lot to do with what we are serving in public school cafeterias across the nation. On the website Fed Up you can see examples of what's being served; grease laden pizza, grey mystery meat sandwiches, and a host of other barely distinguishable foods. Schools should be a place of nurturing minds, preparing children for their futures, and teaching...show more content... Looking back to typical family dinners forty to fifty years ago, usually there's a family sitting around a table eating together. A common nudge every evening to "Eat your veggies!" wasn't out of the ordinary. With the invention of preservative packed TV dinners and the family dining table growing smaller and smaller, as a society, we no longer have that nudge. Jamie Oliver, a celebrity chef, created a television series called "Food Revolution". In the course of the show, he goes to a small town in West Virginia and tries to revolutionize what is being served in their schools. Many of the children shown during the series were overweight, had relatives who had passed away from diet related illnesses, and some didn't even know what a fresh tomato was. I firmly believe that if we are going to change how our children are fed, we are going to need to take an interest in how they are eating. I can remember being in my elementary school cafeteria with probably about a hundred other children, and having only one lunch room supervisor. I'm sure that the ratio has probably changed in the last fifteen years, but I've often wondered how different some of the years that I have personally spent struggling with food issues would have been if an adult had sat down at the table, taken an Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay on Organic Foods Organic Foods "You are what you eat", or so they say. In today's supermarkets, organic foods are everywhere. Not only are there organic fruits and vegetables, but there are also organic dairy products, organic meats, organic convenience foods, organic wine, beer, coffee, tea and even clothes made with organic cotton. All of these choices have made organic foods the "fastest–growing segment of the grocery industry." The Organic Trade Association (OTA), in its "Business Facts" fact sheet available at www.ota.com, cites Natural Foods Merchandiser, a trade magazine, as measuring organic industry growth at 20 percent or greater for the past nine years. Approximately two percent of the U.S. food supply is grown using organic methods. In...show more content... Many of the chemicals used to grow and process food today have greatly expedited the entire food production process. However, Researchers and Scientists in the past relied solely on the efficiency aspect of the process with little regard to any long–term health affects potentially resulting from the intake of such foods, especially with the younger population whose immune system is more prone to ailment. One of the main principles of organic farming is the cultivation of products without the use of harmful chemicals and additives. This use of chemicals, both past and present, has led to "Factory Farming," a popular term describing the mass quantities of food produced throughout the twentieth century. The rise of these factory–produced foods caused the decline of small scale and family owned farms. However, the more recent rise in awareness and waves of environmentalism, organic farms, small and large are back on top and often benefit local communities, land and especially the people who farm them (B.Wyland, Personal Communication, 1, March, 2005). The word Organic itself describes a way of growing food. It's a form of agriculture that arose in the last century in response to the increasing use of synthetic and often toxic chemicals to grow food. The National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), a governmental advisory panel to the National Organic Program, wrote this condensed definition of organic farming in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Descriptive Essay About Food One of the biggest struggles in my life tends to be food. I love eating, but at the same time, I rather not eat. I love trying new foods with exotic flavors and unique recipes, but I fear the reaction that by body will force on me. I have recently been diagnosed with a condition known as dyspepsia. This essentially means my stomach does not enjoy food as much as my mouth does. With each meal, I face the possibility of becoming nauseous after eating. As a result, I tend to avoid large portions, greasy, or overly sweet foods. Although, every now and then, I push my fears of food aside and fully indulge myself in spectacular meals. Poe's Tavern has been the restaurant in which I break beyond my fears and gorge on food. Located in Wrightsville beach, Poe's Tavern tends to be one of my favorite places to eat to feel satisfied after a meal, and fascinated as a literary fanatic throughout the entire experience. This restaurant has been created in honor of the author and poet, Edgar Allan Poe. Poe has been credited as the creator of the mystery and horror genera. He tends to be most well known for his poems and short stories, in which Poe's Tavern glorifies through their restaurant environment as well as food selection. Poe's Tavern has been a phenomenal restaurant for any literary enthusiast with an interest in a fascinating environment and adventurous taste pallet. The creators of Poe's Tavern focused as much on their atmosphere as they did the food when creating such an Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. The Quality Of The Food Quality Essay Recommendation Besides the taste of the food, service quality would be a vital factor that customers consider when choosing the restaurant. From our visits to Cora, we found that the food quality is quite outstanding in terms of freshness of the fruit and taste of the food while the service quality still has opportunity to advance. Given the fact that the service level is inconsistent among our visits but the average standard was met, we think that the workforce learning and development should be emphasized to improve their service quality and cultivate a performance focused culture. Through educating the workforce about quality management principles and tools, we believe that the workforce service quality would improve gradually. Assess Training needs Assessing training needs should begin with a thorough study of organizational vision. In Cora's case, the restaurant should evaluate if they have successfully met the mission of offering guests exceptional quality ingredients and service in a warm, family atmosphere. Before Cora starts the workforce training at the store level, the management should be fully prepared. As we mentioned above, the employees had little knowledge of the fruit source, which illustrated that the management failed to realize the importance of food sources to customers and deliver explicit knowledge about the business to the employees. To improve the workplace engagement and empowerment, the owner must effectively communicate the company's vision and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Food Waste Essay Food Waste Position/Proposal By Natalie Parisi An Introduction to the Problem Food waste is something that affects us all. It happens anywhere food has a presence; the grocery store, restaurants, in our homes, at schools, on farms, in production and even in transportation. It affects people everywhere; those living oceans away and those that share our boarders, people living across America and throughout Utah, businesses and households alike. Being Aware is a Personal Responsibility So is the problem food waste itself, or that food is being thrown out when there are alternative options? Or is it that we just don't stop to consider there is a problem? My concern is that it's not a priority for most people. In addition, there are...show more content... (Sklamberg, par.3) Claiming Ownership In our homes waste caused because we don't pay attention; we are inattentive and ignorant. For some of us, it just isn't important. (Jones, Dive!) Wasting food is a bad habit that affects all of society and we continue to implicate ourselves in the problem. Of the total of food loss that is going on about 40 percent is in the household. Overall a typical household of four loses about 600 dollars in food a year. (Jones 11) Like many things, we just don't bother or we don't feel that we have the time. We aren't realizing how much it affects each of us. Have you ever taken the time to stop and think about it? Thinking about it, I realize that every day I throw something away that could be saved and eaten later. When I take the trash out there are a number of food items that don't need to be there. After we finish dinner I am wiping food off of plates and realizing that I've made too much. Every time I clean out the fridge there is food going into the garbage because I waited too long to use it. Whatever the reason, I realize that it does affect me in many ways and it's constantly happening in my home. Looking at the Impacts of Food Waste Food Waste affects our pocket book because we are essentially throwing out money. At the same time it is impacting us financially it's also playing a huge role in the problems we see happening to our environment. • 13. Food Culture Essay Factors Influencing Food Habits and Culture Eating food is essential for all of us, it keep us alive and also gives us enjoyment at the same time. Food can be defined as any substance that can be metabolized by an animal to give energy and build tissue. (ilearn) In ancient time, when people feel hungry, they eat. However, as human history keep developing and evolving, we have a higher standard on choosing food that we like to eat nowadays. In this paper, we are going to evaluate factors that are influencing our food habits and food culture. Those factors can be divided into two main categories, internal factors (individual preference and values) and external factors (geographical, religion, social, economic and political). In the northern part of China, there are more spicy dishes than the southern part of China. This is because eating spicy food will keep people warm. In costal region, there is more seafood than the inland region. The reason is because it is easier to get fresh seafood in costal region than in the inland region. Japan is an island surrounded by sea, and that is why eating seafood is famous in Japan. Some locations are better for growing specific food, for example China have the climate advantage in growing tea, and France have the advantage in growing wine. Religion is another external factors influencing food habits and food culture. Different culture has different religion, different religion has different custom and food is an important part of a religion. Some religion such as Muslims, consider eating pork as a dirty food, and people should not eat them. Buddhism do not recommend members to eat meat, because they think that is cruel to kill an animal and that we should respect them so we should not eat them. Therefore, a lot of Buddhism followers are vegetarians. Hinduism followers do not eat cow because they think that cows are scarce. People who believe in a religion will follow the rules of the religion, so this will influence their food habit. Some religions do not have rules about food, but they have specific food to eat. • 14. My Passion For Food Pleasure, survival, passion, greed, and enjoyment all link to one thing and that is food. There are those who are privileged enough to eat food for pleasure, those who eat for survival, and those who eat because of stress and so much more. Some people have so much passion for food they make a career out of it; while those who don't just enjoy the gift they create. I, on the other hand, have a hate–love relationship with food: I eat it when I'm hungry, when I am stressed, and when I'm sad. At the end, I always end up feeling guilty for eating too much or too little. In fact, there's times when I think about food more than I should and then again there are times when I don't think about it at all. Neither of those options are healthy. I try to make good choices by eating veggies, fruits, and nuts and try to avoid meat. I try to have a plant based diet only, but I still eat meat when I have no other choice since my parents are the ones who cook. They got to pick what my sister and I ate unless we were asked if we wanted something in particular. To begin with, my relationship with food hasn't been great. For one, I am a picky eater, which is one of the reasons why I don't enjoy meat. Secondly, I used to binge eat, then I would feel guilty about it and would throw it up. As disgusting as that sounds, my beginning stages of bulimia are a big reason why I decided to change my diet and try a healthier alternative; however, I still slip once in awhile and make terrible food Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Essay About Cafeteria A cafeteria is a place wherein you can choose the food you want and buy it. In a cafeteria there is a big variety of food to choose from. You can eat the food that you bought from the cafeteria or that you brought from home in the dining area of the cafeteria. I have been studying in FEU Diliman for two semesters now and I have noticed how the cafeteria is for these two semesters. As a college student of FEU Diliman, I must say that there should be a lot of changes in the cafeteria of our school. Our cafeteria should have a larger variety of foods to choose from. The variety of foods that are in our cafeteria every day is not much and people would opt to buy food from outside the school instead. They should make more food to sell everyday since there are a lot of elementary, high school and college students buying food from the cafeteria everyday. The cafeteria should sell foods that have proper protein and that are nutritious. They should also sell food that has vegetables because it is healthy for example they could make vegetable stew. Different types of fruits should also be sold because sometimes the students wants to buy fruits but the cafeteria person says that the fruits are only for the varsity players. If college students want to buy soft drinks they can buy it from outside the school instead. Elementary and high school students would get tempted to buy soft drinks because they see it in the cafeteria but they can't so they would buy it outside the school instead. Soft drinks are not good to drink because they contain a lot of sugar in them and the student might become hyper or have a lot of energy because of that. If the student will buy the soft drink at school he or she might become addicted to drinking it because of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Food and Nutrition Essay Proper nutrition is one of the most essential elements to being healthy and living a long life. People deal with food every day, and food has been a part of life since the beginning of civilization. What we eat becomes our diet, and our diet plays a major role in deciding how healthy we are and how well our body functions. Without proper diet, our body cannot carry out the functions it needs to perform. Most people have some common knowledge on what is good and what is bad for the human body to consume. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains are some common items people think of when they think of healthy foods. However, it is not enough just to know what foods are good for your body, it is also important to understand why certain foods are...show more content... A BMI (Body Mass Index) records weight in relation to height. A BMI of 25 is overweight and a BMI of 30 is obese. Obesity is not a disease in its self but it can lead to different health issues, some fatal. Obesity can be related to eighty percent of type two diabetes, seventy percent of cardiovascular disease, thirty percent to gall bladder surgeries, and forty two percent to breast and colon cancer. Unfortunately, obesity rates in people are rising rapidly. The United States alone had an obesity rate of twenty six percent in 2007. Some cases of obesity are gene related, but most other cases are a result of improper dieting and exercise among the individual ("Why Is Proper Nutrition Important?", Case Western Reserve University). Type II diabetes is another major effect from improper diet and nutrition. When someone is a type II diabetic, their body either produces too little of an amount of insulin, or their body's cells ignore the insulin. Insulin is important in helping your body use sugar for Kavanaugh 3 energy. When a person consumes food with sugar, the sugar is broken down into glucose. Glucose is used as an energy source for the body and is transported throughout your blood into the cells by insulin. Without proper amounts of insulin, your body is unable to use the glucose as Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Essay on Food Sustainability In food service it is important to realize and address hot button issues within the industry to begin to understand what the target market wants, increase revenue and decrease cost centers. In researching the increasingly pressing issue of food sustainability in global food service it was discovered that implementations are initially expensive and require large amounts of dedication but are ultimately huge factors in increasing brand loyalty and recognition and gaining popularity within the "green" market segment. Additionally, on a socio–cultural level, many consumers feel that restaurants partaking in green initiatives and operations are doing their part to not only help sustain the earth but also to conserving natural resources (Hu, Parsa & Self, 2010). "Going green" is not simply a trend in the food service industry but around the world and in all forms of business. Corporate companies consider "going green" as a sensible business strategy in building recognition for corporate social responsibility among consumers concerned with environmental conservation efforts. Lastly, technological initiatives such as Energy Star appliances (dishwashers, refrigerators, ice machines, etc.) and faucets that use less water must also be analyzed in their ecological conservation capability and weighed against their financial costs (University of Notre Dame, 2014). "Reduce, reuse, and recycle" is a motto that pioneered environmental programs in schools, and public announcements. This motto also holds true in the food service industry. Following the trend to "go green" means implementing this motto into restaurant operations. This includes procedural changes that aim to reduce the amount of resources used, attempting to reuse resources, and recycling those that cannot be reused. Restaurants can move toward more sustainable food service through the utilization of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

For those guests that don't drink alcohol, there are cocktail recipes that don't have alcohol in their mix, such as Virgin Frozen Margaritas and Moscow Mules. • 19. Persuasive Essay On Food When we eat food, we consume it with thought of it providing nutritional support. Suddenly it has become easier to obtain by just driving though a drive thru and ordering meal instead of it being home–cooking with no thought of where it came from. People believe that the food they eat is giving them nutritional value but in truth it is only doing more harm than good. While some may argue that it is ultimately the responsibility of the consumer because no one is forced to eat, but the main problem it to stop eating a western diet that America has been accustomed to diet or not. Because of the amount of processed food causing chronic diseases, inflation of the pricing of the health care industry, and the constant fact that food is readily available without properly knowing what they're eating, it is not publics fault for obesity it's the food industry fault. The amount of food we eat has become a dangerously high problem and eventually has caused severe medical conditions. • 20. Essay on Production of Food in the Future The idea of feeding a population of 9 billion by the year 2050 is daunting. Consider the United Nations' estimate that 1 billion people in the world today are hungry. The average number of malnourished people worldwide between 1990and 2006 is 850 million with the high point of 1.023 billion hungry people, reached in the 2008 crises. Before we can determine if we can feed 9 billion people in 2050, is it not a better question to ask: "Have we met the needs of our current population?" Increases in population growth, higher food prices due to increased demand, and rising poverty levels both in the US and internationally are all obstacles that need to be controlled. To begin with, strategies mentioned in "The Future of Food" need to be put to...show more content... People often ask, "What's going on in the world today that is causing this food production problem to happen?" The answer remains, the population growth. A few examples of what has caused food prices to rise so high are: China and India have the largest and quickest growing populations generating demand for food from around the globe, so impact on prices has been raising demand from these countries, the Japanese tsunami and earthquake drove up seafood prices by 6%, and vegetable prices rose 50% month due to crop damage in Australia, Russia, and South America. If these prices keep rising we will not be able to feed the whole world and we will still have hungry people in poor countries. Elizabeth Dickinson states, "Poverty is the main problem. Even when food is abundant, many go hungry because of the lack of income to purchase food" (146). To cut down the global hunger rate, ten respondents voted that the international community should promote broader economic growth. In other words, we should produce a wider and vigorous quantity of growth. Strategies we can use to face all these challenges are genetic engineering, stress–resistant breeding, and the use of ecosystems in farming. The Green Revolution, which did not bypass Africa, is another problem facing food production. Elizabeth Dickinson proclaimed, "It failed because expensive hybrid seeds and fertilizers quickly degraded soils and impoverished Get more content on HelpWriting.net
