first reported in 1926, but was
described first by Magnus in 1837.

3. Operculum Syndrome
Opercular syndrome,
also known as Foix-
Chavany-
Marie syndrome, is a
paralysis of the facial,
pharyngeal, masticatory,
tongue, laryngeal, and
brachial muscles.

4. Symptoms
 Drooling
An inability to elevate and
depress the mandible
Difficulty chewing
Swallowing and loss of
speech

5. Causes
• Cerebrovascular
disease(Strokes)
• Central nervous system
infection(HIV)
• Unusual Causes(tumors)
• Trauma
• Epilepsy

MRI of brain
EEG and blood investigation
